I love how in the newer version McNamara's uncomfort is showing more. She looks more afraid and instead of dancing along she's outcasted and helps Veronica instead
@@FD_OwenW I mean Sophie did an amazing job at Mcnamara, she showed how full of fear the character is exactly by being so obedient and betraying her friends just so she can be relevant and stay on Heather's good side. It's just that I like how the writers have decided to direct to Mcnamara in this song as a victim too. Starting with the whole beginning before the song where instead of Veronica, Heather Mcnamara gets yelled at.
@@TheMaskedNate again 100% agreed, Sophie is my favourite of all McNamara's, she showed her characteristics in that character, every different cast has different characteristics for their character, but Sophie's McNamara was extremely confident and enjoyed being a heather as it seemed up until 'lifeboat' but with the McNamara in this video, she's overall shy and in shock of Dukes change of behaviour since Chnadler's death, so this McNamara tries to help Veronica through what's happening in this number, showing that her character was more humble and selfless than Sophies view of the character
@@FD_OwenW Tbh, it might’ve been more choreography based cause I see a lot of things were changed. Like, on the crack boom instead of them taking off heathers jacket at that part they take it off at “Move bitch” instead. Also, Veronica now has her diary in this scene, whilst in the OG cast she didn’t. Which results in them tearing out her diary and McNamara trying to help Veronica get the papers back.
Omg I totally love that they put McNamara to "Shut Heather up", unlike the Old version where Veronica does, It just add More Character for McNamara, and This McNamara isn't just dancing, she's actually doubtful of heather duke, I see the Little waves in her hand towards Veronica, and she's actually helped her up, that's just prove that Heather M. Might not be a full Cinnamon Roll, but she sure is just controlled of who's above her. Like it just adds more character to her, and not just background girl or fill in with the Heather Clique.
Very true. A part of it I love is that McNamara's "shut up heather" can be interpreted as her telling herself to shut up OR as McNamara trying to stop Duke by telling her to shut up.
Tbh veronica saying shut up gives a reason for duke to attack her and bring the big fun reprise into the song. Without veronica instigating it it kinda comes out of nowhere
I don’t know her name but the girl playing Heather duke is incredible, I think she might be my favourite from all of the Heather dukes from the west end version!
i love that in this version Heather M is no longer cheerfully dancing along with Heather D‘s power trip. at 4:02 it seems like she‘s genuinely surprised by Heather D‘s ruthlessness, and realizes that her own life is taking a turn for the worse under D. It makes Lifeboat less of a surprise (and shows that M unlike D actually has a conscience, just no self esteem)
I like of when they are all dancing (Minus Heather Mac/Yellow) Veronica's body is like doing two things at once. Her legs are moving with the students but she's looking around and at the note in confusion.
This might be my fave characterization of Heather Mac. She looks so scared and joins mostly out of fear of ostracization. The little wave she gives Veronica, the hesitation joining into the choreography, the look of fear when Heather D grabs Veronica’s diary. Love to see the choices
I like the original west end quick change from 2018, but it just felt out of place on “crack boom” and I think when heathers came back in 2021 with this cast and they changed the quick change to “move bitch this is my song” was so much better of a choice
Something I think is interesting about this Heather Mac is not only does she help Veronica, and act uncomfortable. When Heather Duke says “too bad I just did” to Veronica Heather Mac says it with Duke and then covers her mouth like she regrets saying it. Which further proves the theory that Heather Mac just follows whoever takes leadership near her. (Like a puppy dog) which also further proves the theory of Heather chandler and Heather Mac, where the reason where Heather chandler never told Heather Mac to shut up is *not* because Heather Mac was a “cinnamon role” it’s because Chandler had the most leader ship at the time. Which FURTHER PROVES where the reason Heather chandler always told Heather Duke to shut up was because Duke was always trying to be in that leadership role but she couldn’t while Heather Chandler was alive (which is why we have this song) . Sorry that was a lot but I thought that was interesting. Edit: Another thing, this connects to lifeboat, where Heather Mac would *literally* rather una live herself than think or depend on her own. She needs someone to boss her around.
I like how Heather Mc is like I’m scared but I don’t wanna be an outcast so I have to follow Heather Duke’s rules this version is better for me because it shows heather Mc as like she’s scared but has to follow Heather Duke in order to make it through high school.
They're specially made to be able to tear away like that- cut up into a couple pieces, then hemmed and attached back together with hidden clasps- or visible ones, seeing as how the buttons on her green blazer serve as some of those points of attachment. The white undershirt with the green ribbon on it is just two separate pieces sewed onto the inside of the two halves of the blazer, so it can tear away as well so she's wearing the one with the red ribbon on it after the change.
Am I the only one who still preferred and misses the quick change to be at the "Crack! Boom!" part? I felt like it flowed better tbh I just feel like when they put the quick change to be at the "Move bitch this my song" part, it feels kinda off
agreed!! i also prefer the dialogue that was there before, with veronica screaming “shut up heather” to ghost chandler, makes more sense too when duke goes into the “don’t judge me” section
I feel like it makes more sense the new way. The verse leading up to it has Heather D talking about how she spent so much time having to kowtow to Heather C’s authority, so having the red unveiled just after the declaration that follows about C being dead along with the words “This MY song!” punctuates the fact that she’s taking control now.
in the original version it was Veronica, but in this version, they changed it to make it look like Mac was trying to rebel against Duke because she's too loyal and knows what Duke is capable of
So annoyed there as barely any cheering for this Duke. When she first puts the scrunchie on, there’s usually loads more cheering (I’m going off seeing it live, the proshot, and multiple bootlegs), but literally no one makes a sound. There’s a bit of cheering at the change, but not nearly enough.

Body shape shouldn’t matter. Wether it’s close to the original production of the musical or the movie back from 1989. Costume quality may not be the best, but they want it to be comfortable, breathable, and easy to movie in. Plus I’m not sure on how well anyone else is paying attention to that. @@bubbleswasnthere8889 i 100% agree, they may not be as good at the OG west end cast, as some people will think, but each person tat plays each character in each production will have their own little twist on the character, some in which some people will like and others will dislike, opinions are free and i like that people can give their own opinion, but honestly, i think they're all amazing
