Nice process. FYI - When we un-step our masts at South Shore Yacht Club in Milwaukee, nobody puts their hands under deck stepped masts unless a finger-saver is in place under the mast (aka a block of wood ). Also, we use a paint stir stick with a notch in it to push wires either away from or into the base of the mast. Haven't lost a finger yet!

That is a big stick. Nice solution to the shorter stubby mast

We’ve had a lot of fun with this mast. 😊

That was cool. Nice overview of the process. So it looks like the marina stores all the boats on trailers, is that typical? Assume you had to pay for that, and is it capable of taking the boat "somewhere else" ? aka over road? My Catalina is stored in her original cradle that came with when she was shipped from Chicago. And most boats here in the Mid-Atlantic are on jack stands if they don't have their cradles. Also did the boat come with a cover or did you have one made, or perhaps you did it yourselves? I have mixed feelings on the stern "flap". I like the idea as my stern takes a beating in the winter from the sun, but feel it may impede ability to get on / off. I almost fell over when you said "for the next 6-7 months". On the Chesapeake we can still comfortably come out in late November, even early December, and can re-launch as early as late March. It's all really temperature dependent, no one wants to commission with all the water works when it's still cold. So 5 months isn't atypical. Having spend part of my youth in Wisconsin (5 years in Madison for my undergraduate) I get it, but not sure I wouldn't lose my mind waiting that long to sail again. I am thinking of doing my chain plate re-bedding this coming season. 2004 so it's probably due. Anyway, wish you the best with your wintering. Wow! Good stuff. We are a working club, which means we don’t have a boat lift. We hire a crane to come in twice a year to put the boats in and take them out, We pay per minute. It’s required to have a yard trailer so the boat can easily be moved to her assigned spot. Our boat didn’t come with a trailer so we had one built. If interested in more info on our trailer check out episode 66. We do love the boat cover. We bought it last year. And the is a zipper provides complete access in and out of the boat. We purchased it from shipshape and only had to give the the make, modeled and year. Fits perfect!
