The fact the entire Mantis village bow to you out of respect when you beat the 3 Lords made them my favourite boss. That kind of acknowledgement is such a cool detail. And I usually hate bosses that have several characters hitting you at the same time.

also tc was wrong in my case but look at me now i've got each and every one of the achievements and i'll do the same when silksong is out
tbh mantis lords is just a pretty easy boss even if you fight them as early as possible. many people beat them 2nd or 3rd try with no nail upgrades
I like how each of them had a different personality- the darkest blue was the most aggressive in her lyrics, while the lightest seemed to be the most philosophical.

I love the “mantises stand against the light” as a reference to the fact that they are imune to the infection.

No one's actually immune to infection (except gods I guess it wasn't confirmed). But if you have a strong will you can resist it, and in case Traitor Lord's tribe in some sense control it (they still have their own desires and infection not fully have taken over)
@@robloxplayer0003 The traitor lord willingly took in the infection in order to become stronger, so the mantises do have the ability to resist the infection and appear "immune"
Maybe but i always thought the mantises were just skilled enough to destroy the infected individuals
@@1971taks I mean, yeah, they're. But being infected by the liqiud is not the only way to be brainwashed by the light. Radiance's infection does not work like a common infection does, there're strong evidences for that in the game. Most likely it's source actually appears in the dreams (maybe it's Radiance herself maybe just her light and voice idk), then it envelops you in some kind of fugue, literally (this smoke we see around Sly and Bretta when we encounter them for the first time) and from here you start to give in to her light. And then in the final phase it fully takes over and these plague blobs manifest. In this phase a bug's lost their mind completely (except mantises because they're this much strong-willed apparently). That's why some bugs tell you not to dream, if you don't have a strong will you will be deceived by Radiance and infected.
I accidently walked into this village and ended up unprepared for the boss. For some reason it filled me with excitement.

It is my headcanon in this song that the different shades of blue also show the ages of each mantis lord, the darkest blue being the oldest singing, and cyan being the youngest singing.

It's absolutely aweing how you designed the lyrics to have all three Mantis Lords sing different parts that weave in and out of each other, making the song just as intricate as the battle.
Last week when the hornet song was released, i was playing hollow knight and was trying to beat the bosses from moti’s songs this to the songs. Hornet sentinel, and Lost kin were no trouble. Nkg and Grey prince Zote were difficult. But beating the sisters of battle in just over a minute was near impossible. Now i can probably do it. Thank you Moti.

Well seems my theory of "Shell within the void" being in every song was wrong. Or it's just because the mantis lord doesn"t really have much of a connection to the Pale King.
Either way nice song, nice lyrics, nice voices, nice harmonies. Was especially impressed with both artworks for this one!
I do like that theory but it does make sense to not know that since the closest interaction with the Pale King was
"We don't like you or your culture, here's the deal we keep deep nest back you leave us alone"

This song was playing when I beat NMK Grimm so 100/10
I love this fight in particular, because everything about the fight sets it apart from other fights. Everything just proves that for once, this is not a fight to kill, but to prove. The Lords fighting one at a time, the fact you must challenge them, when most things attack on sight. This is a battle to prove that you are strong enough to survive Deepnest, not to kill. It really proves that the Mantis tribe really is a true civilization, one that has stood the tests of time and infection.
I imagine that it is canon that they didn't rehearse this, and that they are just so in tune with each other's thoughts that they can do this whilst fighting.
"Claim your pale throne" as someone who is trying to currently over 100% completion is a banger lineee, gave me chills

Finally beat the mantis lords today so I’m gonna listen to this for awhile
The mantis lords will always maintain my opinion of them being the best boss. An early game training challenge or a late game mark to show how you've progressed. On top of that, a parabolic difficulty with a clear set of patterns. Truly the best way to learn hollow knight's movement early on.
...the next best way is obvioudly lost kin.

These three killes me more times than I can care to count. The rush of serotonin and adrenaline I got from finally defeating them was enough to send me to the top of Crystal Peak.
I like how most of the songs in the hollow series are encouraging the knight to move forward and/or beat them as if they are training him for whats to come

The Mantis Lords and their theme are one of my favorite bosses and themes in Hollow Knight. These lyrics really illustrate the three lords honor and ruthlessness. I just love this so much.

@@pinkponypuppy9586 It's a Musical Bytes, a smaller package of songs from the same game (or sometimes different games with a shared theme, like the Halloween Bytes) taking up the entire month. Iirc part of the reason they make them is to see how many people would be interested in a full musical of the game.

I'm not usually the biggest fan of these game songs with lyrics videos. But this one sent chills through my entire body, well done.
I really liked the original cover, but this really is a step above. I thought at the start of my first listen that 3 voices might get jumbled a bit, but it's really well done! It's kinda like a jigsaw puzzle, everything fits into place perfectly.
I've already replayed a few times, and I can tell I'm going to be coming back. Great job everyone involved!

To me the Mantis tribe is one of the most interesting. They're keen fighters but also very smart and honored. They didn't give in to the infection even after all the time, not only that but also defended their territory and once you proved yourself they bow without attacking. But then there is traitor lord and his followers... Oof.
