The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Australia, Izzat Abdulhadi, has thanked the federal government for backing a draft UN resolution recognising Palestinian sovereignty over natural resources in the occupied territories.
The resolution also demands that Israel stop destroying infrastructure and confiscating Palestinian homes and farms in areas including East Jerusalem.
But the move has angered many Jewish groups and the Federal Opposition.
