Mason Gillis entered the portal for his 5th year. Phenomenal player! Rebounds like a giant! Well over 40% 3pt shooter from a 4 is pretty badass! 🎯 He's also fresh off of appearing in the🏆 and erning the B1G 6th man of the year 💪👏👏👏 The man will level up whatever team he ends up with!
Duke gonna be elite. Proctor, Foster & newly acquired transfer Malik Brown from Syracuse plus the #1 recruiting class bringing in 6 excellence players who all have been playing against the best of the best throughout their entire high-school career and in the national spotlight, this group of freshman won't be nervous or afraid, they've been playing in front of huge crowds and on national tv for years now. They're not your normal freshman class. This roster also compliments each other very much, the pieces fit together very well and they should really click as a team. They will be elite on offense and even better on defense. This roster is already a powerhouse but will get even stronger as Duke gets the rest of the pieces to the puzzle in the portal. Duke is fine, actually Duke is fantastic & national championship goal hasn't changed & can definitely be reached. So to all you Haters out there I'm sorry but you're just gonna have to live with the fact that Duke is #1 for a reason, its not just by luck or chance that Duke is the standard everyone is and has been chasing for decades now. Better worry about your own teams 🤔😲 Let's Go Duke 🏀
So many ignorant statements on Duke’s “demise” for next year. It’s April lol. People seem to forget the transfer portal. Duke can bring in talented and veteran players to bolster its recruiting class. Get back with us after the portal closes. The Stewart decision to portal is a head scratcher though. He would’ve likely gotten heavy minutes in the frontcourt next year. Still Duke will be fine. Wish him and all the players who left the best.
as usual the field of 68 making dumb comments, and shane you sir are a genius, your comment here came true.duke has added 2 5th year seniors and a junior from the portal.maybe more to come since they still have 2 scholarships left to give out.
The transfer portal era is really gonna kill what has made CBB so special for so long…mark it now…NIL + insta play…gonna be G league for kiddos but the player have all the power given no contracts
Look what the NIL has done to mid-major schools like Indiana State. Lost their coach and their starting five is in the portal now.. We could have been something special next year.
ISUs' Board of Directors need to grow a badass collective for the players (10myr) and a fund that can pay 5m for the HC and 3m for his/her staff. So, $8m for staff salaries from the Athletics Dept and the rest comes from donations for the NIL. NIL has given the power to ISU to compete in the top 30 on a yearly basis, but ISU has to work the alumni 💪
I’m a Kansas fan, and I think it’s terrible what is happening to mid-major programs. Something has to be done to reign in the out of control portal and nil situations. The fun and charm of the ncaa tournament is also going to be ruined because there will probably be fewer upsets too. It’s all ruining college basketball…and especially with mid-majors. It’s just wrong.
@@stevenkidd6761 It’s all just out of control. College sports was never meant to be like professional sports. Sorry but I’m not concerned about whether some 18-22 year old college kid gets to be a millionaire overnight. Just because you’re invited to play in your school team doesn’t mean you should be paid a salary for it. NIL was intended for players to be able to negotiate their own deals with businesses such as in doing commercials or the use of their name on a t shirt. It wasn’t intended to mean they got a salary for being on the school team.
I'm glad people are "worried about" Duke and underrating Duke. I mean last year at this point everybody had Duke penciled in for the Final Four and the season started off poorly with losses to AZ at home and Ga Tech in the ACC opener. For the first time in like 30 years, Duke lost twice to both UNC and NC State. Sure we got to the Elite 8 but that final loss to NC State was a complete flameout. So I'm hoping people sleep on Duke, but I'm betting they won't.
18:32 Man I hope the recruiting is right on Flagg. I'm old enough to remember when the recruit rank on someone like Treyvon Duval was higher than Trae Young which was dead wrong. They get many of these wrong.
Definitely agree with the Treyvon Duval point but the problem with a lot of the Duke guards is they leave earlier than they should. I think Frank Jackson duval dj steward Cassius Stanley keels would have all had better careers if they would have just stayed an extra year. Flagg definitely is a different breed I’m hoping Scheyer really utilizes his assets this season and starts retaining
Duval wasn't that long ago, 2017-2018. Anyways yeah you're right, the "EXPERTS" do the rankings and if you go back and look at say espn's mens basketball recruiting rankings over the last few years you will find plenty of highly ranked players who was 1 and done in college and was quickly out of the nba if they even got into the nba at all. On the other hand you will also see players who was ranked way lower (and when I say lower the chart goes #1 is the top ranked player and #2,#3,#4 are lower ranked players) like in the 50s,60s,70s,etc. For instance Donovan Clingan for Uconn was ranked as a 4star and was in the 50s & is a projected top 10 pick in the nba draft while most players that play his position that was ranked ahead of him are still in college with many actually sitting in the transfer portal as I type. If you've never looked back over the recruiting player rankings you should check them out some time, I find it very interesting & educational actually. Duke has had way to many players that thought they was 1 and done guys but should have stayed for a 2nd year or more. I believe they would have been successful in the nba instead of "busts" and even a lot of the players that was 1 and done and did get drafted and managed to stay in the nba it took them several years in the league before they started getting real minutes because they had to finish developing 1st, sure they managed to hold on but had they stayed in school another year or 2 the risk of losing their nba dream would have been much smaller. I personally don't care for the 1 and done Era, it's not the game I fell in love with as a young kid back in the mid 80s but I love college hoops more than any other sport and even though I don't like the changes I'll always love the game and Duke. Trevon Duval is playing overseas these days, he's only 25 & still has hopes to make it in the nba
I'm actually hoping KJ Adams will be a bench player now. He and Dickinson on the court at the same time doesn't work well. I prefer a 1 in, 4 out look to be on the court most of the time, depending on matchups.
Podcast or some type of website should show the kids that hit transfer portal and didn’t find an another school..lost scholarship and have nowhere to go..
NIL caps are next. If a player wants to tranfer to the next highest bider, then the kid sits out a year collecting zero NIL. Once that occurs, things will return to normal.
@@KLUJICS Then KU will not be elite. Self knows. KJ knows. I don't understand why KU fans don't understand if you want a good bench, you can't start players who should be bench players.
Kansas having to overpay for projected Bama bench players, crazy era we’re living in. Football completely flipped who the power basketball schools will be.
College sports is just totally messed up with NIL and the portal. College sports is going to be on the decline, and it’s all being brought about by unrestrained greed. Something is going to have to be done to ensure COMPETITIVE BALANCE or else the schools with the most billionaire alumni will just buy up all the talent and essentially purchase their national championships. There will have to be some sort of salary cap like the nfl has. Regardless, college sports is going to be on a major decline in popularity. Watch.
Lol who said they're overpaying for him? He hasn't even committed to Kansas yet. I think he'll end up at UT and stay in the SEC. Also, Bama making their first final four doesn't make them a basketball School, champ LMAO

TJ Power left too.
