It's a tip really. Spent a fortnight there earlier this year. Every second shop is a barber, the rest are mostly cheap general stores. Terraced houses with front areas littered with rubbish and broken stuff they put outside for people to take if they want but clearly don't so they just leave it there piled up instead of dumping it. No pride at all.

Nice town walk. St. Marks churchs structure is very good. Thank you for the visit. And yes 47 views within an hour means people wait for your walking tours. Cheers.

@@emmanuelbabatunde7765 I visited Chatham, walked over the great lines then down to the Strand. Along the seawall to Rainham then turned back. Had a pint of water and cider in the Three Mariners pub. Then walked back along the sea wall back to the Strand. Up church Street and visit St Mary's then along to Gillingham station. I'm glad I caught a earlier train since I was already exhausted. Got home before 8pm.

I was here 5:51 In 2016 when I was 12, it looked magical 😂😂 Alot of time went by yet things are most likely the same especially that vegetable store.
It was more of an adventure for me, good memories.
At 15:21 I used to get my hair cut at TBW at that time, nice lady.

MY good friend , Brian Day was from Gillingham . He died in 1996 , few months before princes Diana , and I remember him telling me at the time , that he would be not surprised if she would end up in some kind of a nasty accident... He was right, but none of us knew that he would succumb to a nasty form of cancer before her....He was a musician, we played together and spent a lot of time reminiscing of Europe and the life in it. He was a quiet man, ununassuming , and since he didn't have any family here in Australia, he was almost daily visitor in our house. I am so glad to see where he came from and sorry that he never saw my town, since this kind of technology did not exist at the time.... He is still greatly missed in my family and is often remembered in conversations with those who knew him. Seing streets of Gillingham where Brian grew up, triggered lots of memories of our time spent together. Gillingham, I salute you from, and both both of us !!!❤❤

It just looks so dismal now, compared to the way I remember it from the 1970s, when it was full of really good shops, and thriving. Now just a sad mess of a virtually dead town centre.

My cousin was mugged & Beaton up after getting off the Gillingham train after work from London walking home. He’s had several eye surgery procedures since. He has since moved away & purchased a house in Nottinghamshire 🐨🐨🦘

It isn’t looking great, but comparing it to a lot of towns I’ve seen tours of on youtube, it could be worse.
