  • The iFootage K5S is an excellent fluid head tripod head that is compact yet precise and smooth. All the knobs and levers are top notch and I love the way the quick release plate system works.

Has anyone used the K5/K5S or the Manfrotto MVH500 for large telephoto lenses? Please share, cheers!

I'm wondering the same thing. My rig, Fuji X-T5 with XF150-600, is only 5 pounds, so it's probably perfect, but I'm not sure. I wish it was an arca plate so I wouldn't have to adapt my lens foot, but it seems like most fluid heads are Manfrotto style

I already own a Manfrotto 502AH, so I was interested in ifootage’s Seastar quick release system, to rotate between my tripod and monopod. But the Seastars are priced so high to get 2 sets (why would we buy just one?) that simply buying a K5s is a better buy.

Yeah they are expensive. I just picked a few of those up on eBay and they make swapping my slider off and on the tripod a lot easier

Hi Adam, would you still recommend it, Ive just bought the Cobra 3. My current fluid head has a little sticky point when planning every now and then. I looked at the Amazon customer reviews on the K5s, and they are mixed, most positive but a few negative. Im not sure if having the Cobra 3 will make it a better choice.

Yes, Its very smooth for the size. I really just wish it had an extra 1/4 20 or 3/8 thread on it to mount accessories.

@@adamtalkstech the only thing that worries me is it has no drag adjustment, does the drag stay consistent, as I do a lot of product pans, I'm guessing it does or you would have said so

You can kind of tighten at the bottom. It’s not as adjustable as say a Manfrotto nitrotech we have at work but for panning up and sideways it’s fine. I mostly use my Shark nano if I need a precise pan or movement.

I dont get it. The plate is not standard size. If you attach your camera to the plate provided, how can you shoot vertical shots ? Is there a frame you can buy that will allow you to attach not only to the bottom of the camera but to the side to switch to vertical?

You just twist it 90 degrees.

Did you maybe compare it with a Manfrotto MVH500AH? I know that the Manfrotto had a lot better panning smoothness (at least when starting the movment) compared to the old iFootage K5. I was wondering if it's improved in the K5s

    • @adamtalkstech
      @adamtalkstech  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Yeah I have a MVH500AH at work. I like the K5S better. I also have a K5 now and the K5s is wayyy better as far as all the knobs and overall smoothness.

@@adamtalkstech thanks a lot for the reply! I really wanted the iFootage for the smaller size, but some reviews of the old K5 showed the initial panning movment producing unusable footage compared to the mvh500ah. If the new K5s is a lot better, it seems a good buy now with black friday discount :) I'll order it now

Yes I have mine right behind me getting ready to film some more videos, I don't notice a jerky starting movement. I did have that issue with some of the manfrotto fluid heads i've used in the past. What camera are you rocking?@@simoz78

Nice. Yep similar to me. I'm rocking the FX30/A7iv on the cobra 3 with the 15mm 1.4, 24mm 1.4 and a few other medium lenses. k5S fits in the case with the cobra as well.@@simoz78

Can you drop in the plate or is it only slide in from the back?

      Slide in only.

Yes as long as you use the plate to put it in balanced position
