Thank you! I knew that the beater bar had two sides but never knew which one to use. Your instructions were very clear. I want to hang on to this vacuum forever so I appreciate you helping me to do that.

We have had our oreck for 5 yrs. Needed to replace beater bar, your video was perfect and to the point. Unfortunately the belt they sent me
was too tight( I tried and
    tried) thank goodness our old
    belt was in good shape.
Thank you for a well made video. 🙌

Any ideas on why the self propel feature quit working after I opened the bottom just to clean it? Didn’t mess with motor at all and it’s very clean. Thanks.
And yes it worked fine prior.

Great video! What I find interesting, the regular Oreck xl, or now (command) with the shorter thicker brush roller doesn’t collect hair. It’s crazy! I have multiple Oreck for my cleaning Business. The pilots, or XL21 build up hair super fast. Regardless they are wonderful vacuums

Thanks Aaron. I would love a version that doesn't get caked with hair. On the good side, I know it's picking up all the hair I otherwise wouldn't know what there on my floors.

How did you bypass the beater bar sensor? (you said you worked around this with the wrong bar)

So I had to drill out a hole in the beater bar at the exact same distance from the end as the original beater bar. I removed the metal ball bearing from the old beater bar to gauge the width of the drill bit. Once I drilled the hole, I inserted the ball bearing into the hole and glued it in with super glue. Has worked perfectly since.

I can’t find a beater bar that already has the ball bearing installed anywhere online. I’ve tried to buy two different ones now that have it in the picture, but when I get them.. it’s not there. Sure enough you’re right, they don’t work. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to install it myself. Guess I’m out of luck.

Oreck is not out of business. I don't know where you got that idea from.

Yeah, but there aren't repair shops and store fronts like the good ol' days. Where are you finding yours? I know Hoover bought them years ago.
