Hi Mr. McGuinness, thank you very much for your videos! I have something to add. There is no need to go through PAST v2 to assign colours and symbols to numbered groups. You can put that information in columns of your Excel sheet and paste that information directly to the PAST v3 columns with row and column attributes activated. Just make sure the columns in the Excel sheet are in the same order as in the PAST v3 sheet and that the colour and symbol names are the same as the ones displayed in the PAST v3 options. Please let me know if this works for you too. Thank you again!

I am trying to put 14 variables for two groups with thier 3 replications but PAST is showing only 5 variable in Summary. However, in loading and biplott all variables are showing..... i can not understand why it is so? or how to adjust this?

I was having trouble with the change from PAST 2 to 3, where the way you have some things working has changed. So -- and I will put this in caps -- IT WAS MY PROBLEM; PAST 3 is fine. Did you input data that are not standardized? If so, moving on to the next question, when conducting PCA, will the data be automatically standardized. Thank you for your answers.
I am retired with no access to data or software. Very sorry. But I (if I am remembering correctly) do have a video on "preliminary" treatment of the data which discusses this.

In PAST we can do a PCA with a specific option namely "between-group" where the eigenanalysis is carried out on the group means (i.e. the items analysed are the groups, not the rows) (Hammer, 2012). Thereby, ¿you have a scrip (for PAST or other software) to contruct this kind of PCA? ¿you have any bibliographic reference for this "between-group" PCA? Best regards

I am struggling with the Convex Hulls, I have a very similar data set to yours, site with variables. even after grouping each site, the convex hulls remains only one large group around all data. Any ideas on how PAST knows to recognise the different sites, such as in your example?
PAST works on the data selected, so the selection must include the site grouping variable; it should be the first variable/column in the selection. Also, it must be designated as a 'Group' variable. To do this, turn on column attributes and change 'Type' to 'Group'. You also need to set colours and symbols for the rows to see these in the graph.

Its nice video. Can you post video how to load a biological replicate values and perform significant analysis using PAST. It will be helpful for many biologist.
