Barron, My SE5A is due to arrive tomorrow can't wait to start. Might have to do my own build videos from the other side of the pond. LOL! Hope to get some tips from your videos. Thanks!

I wish you good luck. Top tip is to read the instructions carefully and don’t skip forward out of inpatients. Hope you gain something from the video.

Thank you so much for highlighting this problem with part id, I'm 60 and am thinking, How the Hell can I build this?!🤔, I've experienced building plastic car kits before but never really touched aircraft so have little knowledge in being able to place a part, without clear written/part no. I'd instructions, starting with no.1, then carrying on in following numerical order, it's not Rocket Science!, I feel sure Your video has stopped the initial 'head scratching'!, and I will be able to start slow progress, Cheers 👍

Stewart, thank you for your most generous comment. Welcome to the joys and frustration of aero modelling.

@@thebarronflights Hi, No, Thank you, could You imagine My Farther flew in the Infamous Swordfish during the second World War, He would have been, should I say, highly dismayed at My ineptitude to assemble a replica Bi-plane!😕👍

Love it Nick. The double ailerons are beautiful. I see part 2 is already online. I'll be watching that too!

Thanks Tim, part 3 will go on line tonight as well. The funny thing is, while editing part 3, I suddenly realised that I have left out the servo pins for the horns!!!! (Dough) ! But, I did make a custom servo hatch, so as soon as I find those pins she is ready for a maiden flight.

@@thebarronflights Yes I find the videos help me too. A bit like an elite athlete using videos to improve their technique! 😀

I can't help noticing that most of the problems highlighted by the builder in this series of videos will have been self-inflicted by NOT following the building instructions, as he demonstrated during the construction of the top wings. For instance the builder manages to stick some plywood parts in the WRONG place on the ribs despite the instructions and the plan clearly showing where they need to be stuck, only to have to remove them later to stick them onto the correct ribs! Then he complains of having to remove the top part of the main spar, which had he read the instructions would have been unnecessary as he would have known to assemble the ribs R3L and R3R into place BEFORE inserting the top of the main spar, before moving onto to complete the wing construction by building the centre section.
The fuselage, which when built as instructed, results in a square and true fuselage without any former deformation the builder managed to achieve as the servo tray acts as a 'jig' to ensure that it builds square. This is why the instructions advise that the front part of the fuselage is assembled 'dry' (i.e. without glue) and only when the parts have been fitted together that glue is applied to the joints, before moving onto the construction of the rear part of the fuselage.
It's not a fault of the kit if the builder refuses to read and follow the instructions supplied - as a lot of time would have been spent on writing them to help avoid building mistakes!
The instructions also 'advise' when parts need to be removed from their carrier sheets, therefore removing the need to mark the part numbers/letters onto the parts, as a quick look at the guide sheets will quickly help the builder to locate the required parts. It also keeps the parts from being lost or damaged until required.
In Stuart Marsden's review of this kit in the November 2019 AeroModeller magazine, one of his observations was:
"Probably the best kit and building
experience I have ever had, attention to detail second to none."
I thought it only fair to provide some 'balance' to the comments in these videos and yes I have built and flown this model.

Thank you for your inputs, I hope others will gain something from your advice which is part of my intention. However, at no point do l rubbish the kit. Also, these are my shared observations in comparison to past experiences. Indeed I do point out good things about the kit. Further, I do say from the start that I am making the kit to suit ailerons which it is not intended to be. Therefore I would like others to learn from mistakes. If I did not value your thoughts, which I do, then I would not have enabled the comments section. This is indeed a good kit, but no kit is 100% perfect and so far no one on TH-cam has gone so in-depth as myself, and so there is no comparison to judge by. Some will find this an easy kit and some will not. But at least there is some guidance for those who wish to try the kit. If you are offended, then you have my apologies, but I do not make any claims to be a professional builder. However, should you wish to make a video yourself that is better, then please by all means do so. I wish you a sincere Happy New Year and good health.
