Your videos really screams quality and genuine passion for what you do. Looking at you making those images is a pure pleasure and is somewhat meditative. You give really good tips and share invaluable knowledge. Just found out about your channel and it's blissful.
Thanks for sharing your process of mounting prints! The photo corners are totally game changer you can literally switch to another board faster and in a non-destructive way at that. Keep up the great work!
This is great - so much detail - must have taken you ages to edit and cut the video. Great work. I tried to makie mounts a few months ago - bought a LION cutter but couldnt afford the better kit and I kept messing everything up. I wonder, what is your massive guide system called? I suspect they are too expensive for me but something to aim for.
Bloody hell DP, that looks like a phaff! I never had access to a matte cutter so I taught myself to do it all freehand. Interesting video though. I really like that portrait.
Do the pens work on RC gloss? Been having a major struggle signing mine in anything but ultra fine Sharpie. Been thinking of just getting my handwritten initial digram made into a stamp for the verso.
FYI - Most mat board companies, like Crescent, add between 1/16" to 1/8" length to a 32x40 sheet. That's why when you try cutting 4 16x20 sheets they're a little bit off.
Thank you for that clarification! I have been thinking about this for the longest time but never really looked into it... even thought maybe my guides were off on my matcutter... But now it 's confirmed, I'm not going crazy 🤪
I don't know how do you dry your fiber prints, but I saw in your darkroom a set of shelves with mosquito net with some prints face up. If you dry them face down (like Ansel Adams explained in his book), they dry flatter.
I have had issues with drying them face down. Every time I try it I get screen marks on the emulsion. I have heard other people have this problem too and others do not. I try every so often but always ruin the print. Wish I could as flatter prints from the start would be optimal! Thanks!
@@unpocodeluz_atill I will have to look. I think they are plastic but not sure . I am going to look when I get home tonight. I know I built them out of window kits from the Home Depot.
Material is very expensive. This guy is very good and apart of the expensive material you need room for it. And thats always hard, this guy haves it all...lucky one! But the videos are very good and the guy looks a passionate guy with know how, always nice watching
Thanks, These mat boards were relatively inexpensive. ( I believe around $15 each ) However I lost my supplier as of Covid so cherishing the last of this stock. The other 100% cotton rag mats seem to be higher in price but will hopefully find a source soon! My mat cutter can be had very cheap (this one is 15 - 20 years old) and the table I built in my small (very low ceiling) basement. Nothing to out of reach for most I would think. The biggest obstacle I see is time, patients and a willingness to learn (and make mistakes...). Cheers!

Yes!!! Trying to find time myself.

I believe they would work well. Better than a sharpie. Best thing I have found!

That’s a great video! What model is the matte cutter your using? It’s much nicer than mine.
Ok, so it is a pretty old one.. I have had it for close to 20 years. it is a Logan Simplex plus #750. Seems to still work pretty well!

Is your net a metal or plastic one? Mine is plastic, and I get no marks on the prints.

Impossible to find cotton mat board in Brazil :(
That’s a bummer. I suppose you would have to find good Acid free mats as an alternative? Not sure of other options 🤷🏻♂️
@@Distphoto maybe I could use hahnemuhle photo rag 308g as a mat... gotta try
