As manga reader that part made me tear up more than the shout after. Itadori realize that there is nothing he can do to save him just wait the inevitable, that subtle details also make a great performance.
Not once did he think to drag himself over to Shoko, instead wandering around in that state trying to make sure everyone else was okay. Fantastic character and what a beautiful, heartbreaking send off.

Nanami in prime conditions wins against Mahito and Mahito is the last of the grade As left besides Geto.
My favorite thing is that when Yuji first met Nanami he just considered Yuji a child to be protected by adult sorcerers, in his last moments he said “you take it from here” acknowledging that Yuji is in fact a strong sorcerer and no longer needed protection (able to “carry the mantle”)
In my opinion, the moment Gojo got sealed, Nanami is destined to die in Shibuya. Since Nanami is the most responsible grade 1 sorcerer there, he will not stop fighting until he makes sure everyone else is safe. 😭
It wasn't bad timing. It shows exactly as it is. There is no time to mourn anyone, no noble sacrifices, no fair fights, no fan favorites plot armor, no burials for loved ones. No good timings for deaths and nothing left afterwards. That's what this series is about
At present, manga readers will know its even more crazy. Only Gege knows what he is cooking and what plots are up his sleeves further. Seriously i am just going with the flow and not expecting anymore from the show
Shotouts to Mahito's seiyuu too, I'm used to hear him as a charming shoujo prince (in fruits basket) or scared for his life (in dark gathering) but here he sounded freaking savage
You getting upset at how quickly they pushed past Nanamis death means the writers did their job. Yuji has no time to mourn Nanami because the threat is still active. The goal is to make us as viewers feel somewhat how Yuji feels.
Nanami got the best death in the series imo, so this may not be an enjoyable series for them if they can't handle that type of thing moving forward. lol
Mahito has the perfect mindset, like Sukuna, to get stronger at a very fast pace. He cares about nothing, no plotting, no wasting your time on irrelevant stuff, just destroy everything around you and get stronger.
Personaly, I think Mahito it's worst than Sukuna. Mahito it's childish, he has no respect for anyone, he does whatever he wants and the only one that can control him a bit it's Kenjaku, but not too much either. Sukuna it's evil, but he has respect, we saw that with Jogo. It's not that Sukuna give a fuck for anyone, but the goal it's differrent. Sukuna has he's goals, but Mahito's goal it's just to mess with people's mind and have fun with it. It's so shitty.

Mahito is the best antagonist in this series, the later ones dont really compare in terms of presence, sukuna does but hes so far ahead of everyone that he doesnt have that rival factor that mahito does
@@vincesaligue5963 Isayama lost his balls very early on. A lot more main characters should have died in S2-S4. And most importantly it's just ridiculous that not a single character from the "alliance" died in the grand finale.

I think that now at this point you can better understand what Gege wants to show: there is no glory in being a sorcerer, your death will not be honorable, you will die alone, Gojo says this to Megumi in season 1. And believe me, not even if Nanami had full and overtime he would beat Mahito lol. He would hear "Domain Expansion" and game over. Edit: Gege Akutami (the creator of JJK) once said that Nanami was his favorite character 😭 this mf is completely crazy
I’m pretty sad about Nanami but I just love how evil Mahito’s character is and how creative they always make his attacks . one of my favorite villains for sure just so well done
I think Nanami's death and Gojo's sealing are good writing and great turning points narratively and thematically, because those two represented some relative safety and nurture in the world for the students. Now they have to survive and actually live up to Gojo's words of becoming the next generation of the strongest.

The utter despair and anger/rage in Yuji's voice in this episode really hits me hard! Kudos to his VA, Junya Enoki! He did an outstanding job! Also, can't Yuji take a break? I can't even imagine how much pain he's going through right now. 💔
People also forget that Nanami was only *Grade 1* while Mahito is a *Special Grade* which is higher, not to mention a *Special Grade* that has learned Domain Expansion. Even at full health, unfortunately Mahito would've won if it was 1v1 w/o help. *Special Grade* curse spirit Dagon fought 2 *Grade 1* (Nanami and Naobito) and 1 *Semi-Grade 1* for promotion (Maki) and they were still losing if not for Megumi invading his domain and Toji interfering. *Special Grade* sorcerers or curse spirits that have fully understood/mastered their curse techniques which in turn allows them to use Domain Expansion are just on another level and fighting them 1v1 when you're lower grade and not equal seems to be an awful idea. Mahito was also way stronger than when they last fought, it has been months since they've fought and Mahito's ability has grown so much after learning how to use Domain Expansion being able to outsmart and beat Mechamaru who was a *Semi-Grade 1* sorcerer. The level of his skill growth on using Soul Manipulation is way ahead than when Mahito and Yuji 1st fought. It's also funny that people are saying Nobara's curse technique Resonance is useless and she should run. Her technique resonates and targets the opponents soul. Even if only a part of their body is hit with Resonance since they only have 1 soul, Nobara's attacks will resonate back to that target's soul and still deal damage wherever they are. We saw that at the last episode of Season 1.
Comparing their grades isn't great. The Sorcerer and Curse grade levels aren't equivalent. 4th grade sorcerers are supposed to be able to take out 4th grade curses without problem, so they are more equivalent to 3rd grade curses. This also scales as you go up. As a grade 1 Sorcerer, he was supposed to be able to take down grade 1 curses, so equivalent to a special grade curse. It's just that the disaster curses are a scale above other special grade curses. For the record, the criteria for a special grade sorcerer is a person who could solo a country (presumably including suicide techniques).
The grading system sorta gets jumbled up and doesn’t truly matter. Special grade is more about a curse or a sorcerer who could take down a country by themself. Doesn’t mean they’re strong but in most cases they are loll
Truthfully, there wasnt really much else to Nanami's story. At best you can argue that maybe he could continue being some sort of mentor figure for Yuji but other than that, his story was quite clear. His death was more so to showcase the harsh reality of the jujutsu world and his monologue about having done enough was to showcase how had he simply run away, he definitely wouldve survived but instead he continued fighting to the end just so that he could even by a little bit, ease the burden on the younger sorcerers but that act of kindness of course, brought him back into the danger and of course, led to his death. Its a lose lose situation for the sorcerers tbh. Truthfully, they lost the war and will die the moment gojo was captured. The only path left for them would be more like, are you alright with living with yourself knowing you ran to survive or stayed fighting for those you cared about, risking death kind of thing. Nanami in a way wanted the former but ended up with the latter because of who he is. Its tragic but id say he had a very bittersweet ending because no one can say nanamin was not an ideal sorcerer. an ideal hero so to speak.
Completely false, Nanami's story had not even begun yet. His character arc was far from being completed as he had been developed very little. This is Gege's garbage writing, sacrificing characters who have never actually been explored for the sake of shock value. Same thing with the twins, introduced only to be killed off for no reason.

They really did a good job with Nanami’s final scene. The anime added that entire cutaway to the beaches of Malaysia. In the manga it was just in Nanami’s imagination. Props to the animators and to Gege, if people didn’t hate Mahito before, they do now! 😂 😭
It's a sad day for all JJK fans but I'm sorry, but Gege reminding everyone its JJK never fails to make me laugh. Edit: Honestly, one of the reasons why I like how Gege wrote HIS STORY because unlike super heroes, demon slayers, etc., not every sorcerer will have fair fights, reach their full potential, or have their own moment to mourn their deaths. And if I remember correctly, even Gojo warned us about this kind of moments in the first part of S1.
i'll be honest after shows like naruto/bleach where only like 2-3 people on the good side die while the rest are cuddled by infinite amounts of plot armor this type of writing is a breath of fresh air When 2 groups of people fight each other in a show with extremely destructive powers it only makes sense for a lot of them to die on both sides
The salt is justified! That being said, I disagree about one point which is that Nanami's death feels out of place because it feels like he had untapped potential in the story, or that there was more left for him to do. On the contrary, I think Nanami is one of the few characters in JJK that felt 'complete' before the start of the series. His entire character arc starts with quitting Jujutsu Sorcery due to fear of dying prematurely after the Haibara situation. He thinks it's a pointless death, and wonders what's even the point of risking one's life when you can just send Gojo on the mission. He doesn't want to die a meaningless death, because he's sure he'll regret it. After that, he slowly comes to the realization that a life where he doesn't amount to anything, wasting away his time just being a cog in a pointless machine that only really benefits wealthy people and himself, is where REAL regret lies. So he comes back to being a jujutsu sorcerer. All of this development wraps up PERFECTLY in his fight against Mahito (in season 1, not this one), when Mahito casts domain expansion. A recurring theme in S1 was that all Sorcerers die with regrets, but Nanami, the character who initially quit specifically because of fear of death and probably encapsulates that regret theme most, says it very clearly in that scene: He has no regrets. Nanami had an absolutely beautiful character arc, and all of it was told through fairly limited screentime. He was the one character who, imo, did not really have much more development left for him because he was complete. Both in terms of character and abilities. ...Sad as it is to say, I think this is one of the only "good" deaths in Jujutsu Kaisen. I won't be spoiling anything, but just know that a lot of characters do get killed off for seemingly no reason and with so much untapped potential it's frustrating.
25:19 I think Shibuya is in Tokyo. Todo and his team are from Kyoto in Japan. From Kyoto to Tokyo is about 6 hours car drive so I don't actually think they are in Tokyo(at least not yet). I haven't read the manga yet, this is just map information but it would be great if they could arrive and help..😥
It wasnt bad timing or anything. The story has made it clear being a sorcerer is not something that will end well unless you’re like Gojo. Nanami died because nobody is safe. He wasnt on the level of anyone here so naturally, he died. Just because he is beloved doesn’t mean anything. Gege isn’t an author who cares if the character is popular. Hell, Nanami IS his favorite character. However he cares more of the story. He has established this world as cruel and unfair when it comes to curses. Again, its established even earlier in this arc that Nanami is not at all strong enough to fight these people. Remember Dagon? It took a group of people to fight Dagon and even then they would have died if Toji didn’t show up. You let your favoritism for Nanami cloud your judgement on the story as its been established he was not meant for these battles since season 1 when he almost got one shot by Mahito and was only saved by ACCIDENT. Also, the Nobara stuff is happening at the same time as the Yuji fight. So no nobody saved Nobara. This is CURRENTLY happening

This was a wild and sad episode, I really relate to Carlie coz I also got spoiled about Nanami's death like 2 years ago by my own cousin but it was still very sad and shocking to see how he went out
Cool that in last scenes, Nanami was saying "so, you are here?" and Mahito thought that it was adressed to him and started answering but Nanami was speaking to Yuji
I feel like the fact there still was things for Nanami make his death much more impactful, he never truly was able to kick his feet up and enjoy himself, he really was exhausted and just hadn't caught a break even up until the very end

As a non-manga reader and a Nanami fan, my heart just shattered! I just can't take this anymore! Farewell, Nanami! You've done enough. 🥺 This SHIBUYA ARC is literally PAIN.
So here's my take: I think it's good that they respected Nanami as a character enough to not baby him with plot armor, and show that given his condition and the power scale right now, he is susceptible to that kind of death. But, I do wish we got to see more of him in action. I think it also goes to show just how stupid fucking strong Mahito is, as much as I hate to admit it. Like, Nanami tanked a point-blank attack from Jogo who's already stupid strong, AND was able to fight after all that. Then Mahito just strolls up and one-taps him. I do think Nanami could have countered Mahito with his reaction time, but I think Nanami was just so exhausted at that point he just accepted he wasn't going to win and he wanted to be at peace finally. Ultimately, I think Nanami's death was more of his own decision than Mahito's. Still, it doesn't make it any easier. He was a phenomenal character and I think he still had even more potential to unlock. I completely understand Ange's frustration. Also, I do think the first time Nanami and Mahito fought, Nanami definitely would have won. He basically already did, but he fell back before finishing it off (which I find is a borderline plot hole because idk why Nanami wouldn't finish him off in that moment, unless he just figured Mahito was so weak it wouldn't matter whether he lived or died). However, with Mahito at this stage, idk if even a full-power Nanami would win. It would be a hard fought battle on both sides for sure, but I just don't know. I think another frustrating thing is, we really never got to see Nanami at his absolute full power (at least, I don't think), so it's hard for me to tell. But Mahito is so stupid strong right now that I truly believe the only good character capable of ending him is Gojo.

There was no need to make this episode and fight so funny when Nanamin has just fucking died. Straight away I laughed out loud when Mahito yelled "you don't have to shout I can hear you". Then the bladed kiss, then the elevator door fucking dinging when Mahitovator arrives. I was laughing when I should be angry and sad instead.

But after Shibuya, the writing just steadily degrades since Gege refuses to engage in his worldbuilding and established characters and just wants to design new characters and powers. The plot's just gone off the rails and not in a cool crazy way. Just in a -- what a sad derailment of potential way.
Also because those three started publishing the same year (2018). There's a lot of other Shonen with violence and tragedy but were released much earlier.
With the way Hell's paradise was set up, it makes sense for it to run that way, but Jujutsu Kaisen had a massive jump and stakes running from Season 1 to Season 2, that's where all the chaos really started imo
As someone who read the manga a long time ago, this was one of the hardest moments to accept so I completely get you Ange. I think this was the first point where I realised, oh, its gonna be that type of manga. I had to pause reading for a while. But when you read on in future arcs and you consider the theme of the series, the recurring question Yuji asks himself is 'what is a proper death?'. Then you realise that thats the point. Theres no such thing as a proper death. On a side note, it really doesnt get any better from here on out to the current arc.
I came to terms with this in the manga a long time ago: I love Mahito, he's one of my favorite villains ever. The emotion he can illicit from people is amazing, even when it's not Nanami.
For the purpose: It's all about Mahito breaking down Yuji's mind and Yuji's thing of wanting people to have a proper death. Nanami very much did not get that, which just serves Mahito's goal in this instance.
idk but no one can make me hate mahito. he's such an entertaining villain. i didn't really have that attachment to nanami/nobara so i couldn't feel their resentment towards him. in my case, i couldn't hate villains who's literally born a villain rather than villains who just "acts" like one. ppl forget mahito is a curse. he's born from hate and fear. why would they expected him to feel sympathy or anything. i actually find the ponytail blonde guy more annoying than mahito and sukuna
@@BS-jg7dy I'm not a manga reader so honestly I'm worried about even reading replies to this but I haven't felt like Shibuya is contrived. I've been surprised by how poorly it feels like most reactors I've watched are following what's going on. I've felt like it's all been very clear in the episodes. It's jumping around in time a lot because a lot of things are happening simultaneously, but it's all been shown at least. As a result, I feel this is actually the opposite. All of the characters are just doing what they'd naturally be doing in this chaotic situation and they happen to be conflicting with each other as a result. That's why all these difference factions with different goals end up temporarily having the same goals like when Sukuna showed up to the Panda situation. What feels contrived to you? I'm probably missing something.
The JJK tells us that in life, everything has an end, let's appreciate that everyone exist and being a part of our life. It's not typical story that everythings got happy ending that the way we want.

For every good bit of animation/cuts (the storyboarding & intercutting of the beach scene, the elevator scene, etc.), there's a lot of rough animation, slideshow-type moments, and obvious "ran out of time" scenes. Poor animators, the upcoming episodes could/should be pretty epic, but it's looking unlikely that there'll be time for another ep. 16/17. Not in terms of scale, but polish.
i mean JJK is a shonen on the verge of seinen. It has the classic shonen elements but also touches on more serious, darker and realistic elements. It's not your regular happy go lucky anime hence the name of the arc Shibuya Incident. This whole thing was a big incident that helped set up for alot of characters' greatness in the future.

That part is my favorite panel in any manga ever. I had never been made to feel every feeling all at once by a drawing with words. I stopped reading the chapter and was losing it. His death was foreshadowed in several ways. His character is the old cop with one day till retirement but he actually came outta retirement. He’s the mentor that passes his knowledge right before his time is up. He found and followed like bread crumbs the observer deaths this arc. This death is a statement for the future anyone can die. It was also nanami passing the baton which started/foreshadowed with the black flash record in season one.
Thats the point, Sorcerors die with regret and get no time to mourn each other, especially in Shibuya. A big theme is that death is quick, swift, and sudden, and plenty died unfulfilled
“Nanami would have whooped your ass if he was in prime condition” No…no he wouldnt have. Nanami was not that strong lol. They only won against Mahito the first time because of Sukuna intervening. Remember Mahito was actually going to kill Nanami in their first fight but was stopped because Yuji entered the Domain and Mahito accidentally touched Sukuna. Nanami was strong but even he stated that he is the MINIMUM level in terms of fighting these kind of curses. Even at full strength, he would have died. Yuji only hasnt died is because Mahito can’t one hit kill him as Sukuna is inside Yuji which makes it so that Mahito’s technique is ineffective as touching Yuji’s soul would ALSO touch Sukuna and Sukuna doesn’t like being touched
I love your reaction. The saltiness and sulking was the most appropriate reaction. I was already pissed at how Nanami was disrespectfully burnt and dealt with as a number, then they got his upper half exploded, but then the anime makers were audacious enough to go one with the episode as if it was nothing.. Just outrageous! I didn't even love Nanami as much as you guys and this episode made my blood boil.
I thought you would already know this but, the death of Amanai Riko or Nanami should engrave this in your brain forever, Jujutsu Kaisen is a dark, raw series, in which the tragedies will not be over-romanticized and the victories are usually a bitter taste Just as an INCIDENT happens out of nowhere in real life, everything happens quickly and there is no time to mourn.
Props to the animator and props to our beloved character, the bakery woman and the crew will miss him i would be glad that Gojo become rly pissed and angry when he hear about it But Mahito get me every time with the counterscream

My favorite thing is that when Yuji first met Nanami he just considered Yuji a child to be protected by adult sorcerers, in his last moments he said “you take it from here” acknowledging that Yuji is in fact a strong sorcerer and no longer needed protection (able to “carry the mantle”)

Mahito has the perfect mindset, like Sukuna, to get stronger at a very fast pace. He cares about nothing, no plotting, no wasting your time on irrelevant stuff, just destroy everything around you and get stronger.
Personaly, I think Mahito it's worst than Sukuna. Mahito it's childish, he has no respect for anyone, he does whatever he wants and the only one that can control him a bit it's Kenjaku, but not too much either. I think Nanami's death and Gojo's sealing are good writing and great turning points narratively and thematically, because those two represented some relative safety and nurture in the world for the students. Now they have to survive and actually live up to Gojo's words of becoming the next generation of the strongest.

People also forget that Nanami was only *Grade 1* while Mahito is a *Special Grade* which is higher, not to mention a *Special Grade* that has learned Domain Expansion. Even at full health, unfortunately Mahito would've won if it was 1v1 w/o help. *Special Grade* curse spirit Dagon fought 2 *Grade 1* (Nanami and Naobito) and 1 *Semi-Grade 1* for promotion (Maki) and they were still losing if not for Megumi invading his domain and Toji interfering. *Special Grade* sorcerers or curse spirits that have fully understood/mastered their curse techniques which in turn allows them to use Domain Expansion are just on another level and fighting them 1v1 when you're lower grade and not equal seems to be an awful idea.
Mahito was also way stronger than when they last fought, it has been months since they've fought and Mahito's ability has grown so much after learning how to use Domain Expansion being able to outsmart and beat Mechamaru who was a *Semi-Grade 1* sorcerer. The level of his skill growth on using Soul Manipulation is way ahead than when Mahito and Yuji 1st fought.
It's also funny that people are saying Nobara's curse technique Resonance is useless and she should run. Her technique resonates and targets the opponents soul. Even if only a part of their body is hit with Resonance since they only have 1 soul, Nobara's attacks will resonate back to that target's soul and still deal damage wherever they are. We saw that at the last episode of Season 1.
Comparing their grades isn't great. The Sorcerer and Curse grade levels aren't equivalent. 4th grade sorcerers are supposed to be able to take out 4th grade curses without problem, so they are more equivalent to 3rd grade curses. This also scales as you go up. As a grade 1 Sorcerer, he was supposed to be able to take down grade 1 curses, so equivalent to a special grade curse. It's just that the disaster curses are a scale above other special grade curses. For the record, the criteria for a special grade sorcerer is a person who could solo a country (presumably including suicide techniques).

Truthfully, there wasnt really much else to Nanami's story. At best you can argue that maybe he could continue being some sort of mentor figure for Yuji but other than that, his story was quite clear. His death was more so to showcase the harsh reality of the jujutsu world and his monologue about having done enough was to showcase how had he simply run away, he definitely wouldve survived but instead he continued fighting to the end just so that he could even by a little bit, ease the burden on the younger sorcerers but that act of kindness of course, brought him back into the danger and of course, led to his death.
Its a lose lose situation for the sorcerers tbh. Truthfully, they lost the war and will die the moment gojo was captured. The only path left for them would be more like, are you alright with living with yourself knowing you ran to survive or stayed fighting for those you cared about, risking death kind of thing. Nanami in a way wanted the former but ended up with the latter because of who he is. Its tragic but id say he had a very bittersweet ending because no one can say nanamin was not an ideal sorcerer. an ideal hero so to speak.

They really did a good job with Nanami’s final scene. The anime added that entire cutaway to the beaches of Malaysia. In the manga it was just in Nanami’s imagination. Props to the animators and to Gege, if people didn’t hate Mahito before, they do now! 😂 😭

Edit: Honestly, one of the reasons why I like how Gege wrote HIS STORY because unlike super heroes, demon slayers, etc., not every sorcerer will have fair fights, reach their full potential, or have their own moment to mourn their deaths. And if I remember correctly, even Gojo warned us about this kind of moments in the first part of S1.

The salt is justified! That being said, I disagree about one point which is that Nanami's death feels out of place because it feels like he had untapped potential in the story, or that there was more left for him to do.
On the contrary, I think Nanami is one of the few characters in JJK that felt 'complete' before the start of the series. His entire character arc starts with quitting Jujutsu Sorcery due to fear of dying prematurely after the Haibara situation. He thinks it's a pointless death, and wonders what's even the point of risking one's life when you can just send Gojo on the mission. He doesn't want to die a meaningless death, because he's sure he'll regret it.
After that, he slowly comes to the realization that a life where he doesn't amount to anything, wasting away his time just being a cog in a pointless machine that only really benefits wealthy people and himself, is where REAL regret lies. So he comes back to being a jujutsu sorcerer. All of this development wraps up PERFECTLY in his fight against Mahito (in season 1, not this one), when Mahito casts domain expansion. A recurring theme in S1 was that all Sorcerers die with regrets, but Nanami, the character who initially quit specifically because of fear of death and probably encapsulates that regret theme most, says it very clearly in that scene: He has no regrets.
Nanami had an absolutely beautiful character arc, and all of it was told through fairly limited screentime. He was the one character who, imo, did not really have much more development left for him because he was complete. Both in terms of character and abilities.
...Sad as it is to say, I think this is one of the only "good" deaths in Jujutsu Kaisen. I won't be spoiling anything, but just know that a lot of characters do get killed off for seemingly no reason and with so much untapped potential it's frustrating.

Nanami died because nobody is safe. He wasnt on the level of anyone here so naturally, he died. Just because he is beloved doesn’t mean anything. Gege isn’t an author who cares if the character is popular. Hell, Nanami IS his favorite character. However he cares more of the story. He has established this world as cruel and unfair when it comes to curses. Again, its established even earlier in this arc that Nanami is not at all strong enough to fight these people. Remember Dagon? It took a group of people to fight Dagon and even then they would have died if Toji didn’t show up.
You let your favoritism for Nanami cloud your judgement on the story as its been established he was not meant for these battles since season 1 when he almost got one shot by Mahito and was only saved by ACCIDENT.
Also, the Nobara stuff is happening at the same time as the Yuji fight. So no nobody saved Nobara. This is CURRENTLY happening

As a non-manga reader and a Nanami fan, my heart just shattered! I just can't take this anymore! Farewell, Nanami! You've done enough. 🥺 This SHIBUYA ARC is literally PAIN.
I knew this day will come the day I heard you guys talk about nanami being your favourite yet it still hurts
So here's my take:
I think it's good that they respected Nanami as a character enough to not baby him with plot armor, and show that given his condition and the power scale right now, he is susceptible to that kind of death. But, I do wish we got to see more of him in action. I think it also goes to show just how stupid fucking strong Mahito is, as much as I hate to admit it. Like, Nanami tanked a point-blank attack from Jogo who's already stupid strong, AND was able to fight after all that. Then Mahito just strolls up and one-taps him. I do think Nanami could have countered Mahito with his reaction time, but I think Nanami was just so exhausted at that point he just accepted he wasn't going to win and he wanted to be at peace finally. Ultimately, I think Nanami's death was more of his own decision than Mahito's. Still, it doesn't make it any easier. He was a phenomenal character and I think he still had even more potential to unlock. I completely understand Ange's frustration.
Also, I do think the first time Nanami and Mahito fought, Nanami definitely would have won. He basically already did, but he fell back before finishing it off (which I find is a borderline plot hole because idk why Nanami wouldn't finish him off in that moment, unless he just figured Mahito was so weak it wouldn't matter whether he lived or died). However, with Mahito at this stage, idk if even a full-power Nanami would win. It would be a hard fought battle on both sides for sure, but I just don't know. I think another frustrating thing is, we really never got to see Nanami at his absolute full power (at least, I don't think), so it's hard for me to tell. But Mahito is so stupid strong right now that I truly believe the only good character capable of ending him is Gojo.

I read the manga weekly after season 1 and when i got to this nanami's moment i couldn´t stop sobbing. Now i'm watching s2 because of you, and to relive this moment made me so sad but your reaction make me feel so accompanied in my pain.

There was no need to make this episode and fight so funny when Nanamin has just fucking died. Straight away I laughed out loud when Mahito yelled "you don't have to shout I can hear you". Then the bladed kiss, then the elevator door fucking dinging when Mahitovator arrives. I was laughing when I should be angry and sad instead.

@@rygornspectre7142 Only for a short while in Shibuya since that lets the other characters take the stage. But after Shibuya, the writing just steadily degrades since Gege refuses to engage in his worldbuilding and established characters and just wants to design new characters and powers. The plot's just gone off the rails and not in a cool crazy way. Just in a -- what a sad derailment of potential way.

There's a reason why this, Chainsaw Man, and Hell's Paradise are known as the Dark Trio of shonen. They don't let up on the violence and tragedy.
Also because those three started publishing the same year (2018). There's a lot of other Shonen with violence and tragedy but were released much earlier.
With the way Hell's paradise was set up, it makes sense for it to run that way, but Jujutsu Kaisen had a massive jump and stakes running from Season 1 to Season 2, that's where all the chaos really started imo
Mahito splitted himself in 2 when he was after Yuji ( Around 11:26 ) , the fight with Nobara is happening simultaneously

As someone who read the manga a long time ago, this was one of the hardest moments to accept so I completely get you Ange. I think this was the first point where I realised, oh, its gonna be that type of manga. I had to pause reading for a while. But when you read on in future arcs and you consider the theme of the series, the recurring question Yuji asks himself is 'what is a proper death?'. Then you realise that thats the point. Theres no such thing as a proper death. On a side note, it really doesnt get any better from here on out to the current arc.
Mahito currently has two bodies so both situations with nobara and yuji are happening at the same time.
I came to terms with this in the manga a long time ago: I love Mahito, he's one of my favorite villains ever. The emotion he can illicit from people is amazing, even when it's not Nanami.
For the purpose: It's all about Mahito breaking down Yuji's mind and Yuji's thing of wanting people to have a proper death. Nanami very much did not get that, which just serves Mahito's goal in this instance.
idk but no one can make me hate mahito. he's such an entertaining villain. i didn't really have that attachment to nanami/nobara so i couldn't feel their resentment towards him. in my case, i couldn't hate villains who's literally born a villain rather than villains who just "acts" like one. ppl forget mahito is a curse. he's born from hate and fear. why would they expected him to feel sympathy or anything. i actually find the ponytail blonde guy more annoying than mahito and sukuna

@@BS-jg7dy I'm not a manga reader so honestly I'm worried about even reading replies to this but I haven't felt like Shibuya is contrived. I've been surprised by how poorly it feels like most reactors I've watched are following what's going on. I've felt like it's all been very clear in the episodes. It's jumping around in time a lot because a lot of things are happening simultaneously, but it's all been shown at least. As a result, I feel this is actually the opposite. All of the characters are just doing what they'd naturally be doing in this chaotic situation and they happen to be conflicting with each other as a result. That's why all these difference factions with different goals end up temporarily having the same goals like when Sukuna showed up to the Panda situation. What feels contrived to you? I'm probably missing something.

In my opinion, this is where the production issues are _really_ starting to show. For every good bit of animation/cuts (the storyboarding & intercutting of the beach scene, the elevator scene, etc.), there's a lot of rough animation, slideshow-type moments, and obvious "ran out of time" scenes. Poor animators, the upcoming episodes could/should be pretty epic, but it's looking unlikely that there'll be time for another ep. 16/17. Not in terms of scale, but polish.
i mean JJK is a shonen on the verge of seinen. It has the classic shonen elements but also touches on more serious, darker and realistic elements. It's not your regular happy go lucky anime hence the name of the arc Shibuya Incident. This whole thing was a big incident that helped set up for alot of characters' greatness in the future.

I watched this episode this morning and omg 😭😭they DID NOT have to make this even sadder than the manga (it was sad as well in the manga but this just hit different 😭) and can yuji just have a break from all this!!!?? (and I’m pretty sure when mahito did that kiss thing in wasn’t in the manga (I completely forgot) it was quite funny I got to say 🤣 ) cannot wait for next episode!..
That part is my favorite panel in any manga ever. I had never been made to feel every feeling all at once by a drawing with words. I stopped reading the chapter and was losing it. His death was foreshadowed in several ways. His character is the old cop with one day till retirement but he actually came outta retirement. He’s the mentor that passes his knowledge right before his time is up. He found and followed like bread crumbs the observer deaths this arc. This death is a statement for the future anyone can die. It was also nanami passing the baton which started/foreshadowed with the black flash record in season one.
Thats the point, Sorcerors die with regret and get no time to mourn each other, especially in Shibuya. A big theme is that death is quick, swift, and sudden, and plenty died unfulfilled

Nanami had me tear up, but yuji’s screams at m’agitai are what made me cry, it was the intensity I felt, like I wanted to scream that loud.

No…no he wouldnt have. Nanami was not that strong lol. They only won against Mahito the first time because of Sukuna intervening. Remember Mahito was actually going to kill Nanami in their first fight but was stopped because Yuji entered the Domain and Mahito accidentally touched Sukuna.
Nanami was strong but even he stated that he is the MINIMUM level in terms of fighting these kind of curses. Even at full strength, he would have died. Yuji only hasnt died is because Mahito can’t one hit kill him as Sukuna is inside Yuji which makes it so that Mahito’s technique is ineffective as touching Yuji’s soul would ALSO touch Sukuna and Sukuna doesn’t like being touched

I love your reaction. The saltiness and sulking was the most appropriate reaction. I was already pissed at how Nanami was disrespectfully burnt and dealt with as a number, then they got his upper half exploded, but then the anime makers were audacious enough to go one with the episode as if it was nothing.. Just outrageous! I didn't even love Nanami as much as you guys and this episode made my blood boil.
I thought you would already know this but, the death of Amanai Riko or Nanami should engrave this in your brain forever, Jujutsu Kaisen is a dark, raw series, in which the tragedies will not be over-romanticized and the victories are usually a bitter taste
Just as an INCIDENT happens out of nowhere in real life, everything happens quickly and there is no time to mourn.
Nobody is safe in this show. That's what I love about it.
