Hi! Thank you for the video, great help! I’m a graduate searching for a path into construction management. You mentioned recruitment agencies but didn’t name any. Do you know of the best ones in the west/south west/London area (or any others)? There’s so many out there it’s hard to find the top few. Cheers! Sam ✌🏼
Great video indeed kindly guide us on how best we can get jobs in construction field as an engineer if im in Namibia. If u have any links kindly forward to me on rosefadzi@gmail.com Thank u
Hey I am currently pursuing a bachelors of science in Surveying Management. I am SO GLAD that you just said I do not need no experience in the construction industry because the only experience I have is working the construction department at The Home Depot and the four whole months I was there, I learned something new every single day about construction. So I am doing the next best thing and my passion is growing growing rapidly. Thank you so much for the video!

Hi Chi Yung. Pleased to see your story. I'm also from HK and have site engineer background. I'm interested that did you get a job that you like in UK, and how? Thank you :)

I'm 21 I currently work as a glazier apprentices. I work for a small company so I have a lot of different tasks every day. So far I've learned to fabricate and install screens, insulated units and storm windows, cut table glass and mirrors, install showers, mirrors, and table tops as well as replace windshields for cars. I've been in the job for about 9 months. I also started my first semester for a degree in Construction Technology. I hope to continue progressing at my current job while I earn my degree (about 2 years). Once I graduate, I am considering learning to fix and flip houses. My dad is a real estate agent and my brother is a HVAC technician. It'd be nice to think we could all work together in investing in real estate as a family. How do i make the jump from glazing to becoming a general contractor?
Well I currently am in the family business hanging drywall on commercial sites and have considered going up to a superintendent and project manager. I plan on going a community college and then university

I've just recently discovered your channel and I'm so happy that I did because it is very helpful! I am a recent Civil Engineering graduate and I'm really torn between starting my career as a Structural Engineer or a Site Engineer. I do like them both and I can't choose between them. Any advice is greatly appreciated! :)
Finally! More females in the construction industry😊...do u recommend getting btech and going for apprenticeship or continuing to go get a bachelors at uni (btw I’m an American)
Ralph Raphael hey both degree and apprenticeship are good routes in. One comes with debit and the other one is longer but you do gain more onsite experience. I loved being at uni but then it was cheaper for me back then.
Hii Mam, your video is incredible. I'am from India, currently completed my Btech in civil engineering and got the offer letter from one of the universities from Scotland for my Pg programe. I really want to get into a job in uk. Your points actually encouraged me.
I wanted to be a construction worker, man of his words and honest. I wanna know do I have to go find a school and which school is best for construction?
It’s a pleasure to see you videos. I am civil engineering currently pursuing Msc in construction engineering management. I’m looking for a placements as a part of my master degree would you help to secure an internship.

I’m a software engineer and I just can’t take sitting at a desk everyday and want to be outside. What jobs in construction 🔨 that would be good for guy who has a background in tech?

Thank you for your great videos, Michelle! I have rather an unusual question. I freelance as either an Assistant Site Manager or Internals Site Manager for main contractors in South East. Fed up of CMLs, lazy trades and now decided to make a transition into Engineering and considering either taking a course and/or a few lessons with my mate who does it for living. Since you have experience working in both roles, please advise on what it the likelihood of blagging a job as Setting-Out Engineer come summer, without going through a lower-paid transition like Chain Person? What are the most important skills to stay afloat? Would NVQ6 in SM be of any help lending a job as an Engineer? Thank you. Andy
Andy Web hey Andy. I do know quite a few site managers who have made the transition! The good thing is you have site experience and you know what requires setting out so that’s good. I would probably shadow someone for a week or so then maybe do an intensive 2 week course on the kit. That’s what I did. Then I found a job with other engineers on so I could learn from them. Big projects are the best for that rather than anything like housing. Unless your comfortable with using the kit. With hard work and willingness you can defo make the transition.
Hi my name is Stefan (tecuta_stefan@yahoo.com 07490168112 ) , I'm originally from Romania I did graduate back home Construction Civil Engineering University , I have a Comparability Statement from NARIC , a CSCS card I wish to get into the construction , no success , I've got this idea from a friend to do the Site Engineer 2 weeks course , my question is ..witch school I shall use (I'm based in Slough SL1 ) , is not a problem for me to travel . I heard a name ENKA ! Thank you in advance ! Cheers!
So I've always worked health care all my career, wanted a change, paid for a course on a 360 Excavator above 10tonne and LOVED IT! got the red operatives card now. will I need to set sights lower work as a labouror first? Or is it possible to get work straight in to a machine?
Hi there! I'm a new subscriber and so glad I've found your channel. I'm a second-year Construction Management student, with four years of work experience in manufacturing electrical panels and switchboards. The decision to change careers was exciting and I'm currently loving my studies in construction. You mentioned the certification, in relation to being a construction project manager, do most UK companies require PMP certificates? Also, what are some tips you can give in changing my resume to reflect a future career in construction? Thank you for reading!
Which way is faster to become a construction manager? Go to University for four years or start out as construction labor then move on to the next position?
The Pyaung it’s a good question but also a hard one. They could both take the same time but I think realistically university might be the quicker route. It’s obviously more expensive and you will lack on site experience plus have more debt. So you have to weight up the pay off as well as time in my opinion. I’ve also seen apprentice and labourers get there quicker with hard work. All depends on your and your work ethic as well as the company you work for.
Hi! One of your new subscribers here! Thank you for the informative videos!!! I've question too. I'm a BSc qualified civil engineer in Sri Lanka with site engineering experience of four years. But I've no exposure in the UK and wish to start my career here. I've been here for over 10 months now and I've managed to gain the CSCS card (white). I've applied to numerous jobs, only to be rejected due to the lack of UK based experience. Do you have any suggestions? Perhaps contacts for me to atleast volunteer at a site?
Hey, that’s a shame to hear! Sometimes it’s a case of just trying different routes. What part of the country are you staying in? And have you spoken to agencies
@@SheWhoDaresWins Hey! Thanks a lot for the quick response!!!! Currently, I'm in Cardiff, Wales. And yes, I have spoken to a few agencies but they were reluctant to give me a chance for the reason mentioned above i.e lack of UK experience. What other paths must I try?
@@SheWhoDaresWins Now I'm working in a food factory as a production operative. Thats why I'm looking for volunteering job or woking as a genaral labourer to gain a UK based experience. What do you think about it?

I've worked in the meat industry for 20 years but my store now gets precut meat . I started working part-time with my friend in carpentry and cabinet making and I love it. Now he wants me to come on full time or not at all . He offered me 20% less than what I'm making at my job . I would take it if the work wasn't so unstable. Could I use this as a stepping stone to find another job construction or or is the construction industry very inconsistent feast or famine?

I do however enjoy my current role as well so I was wondering whether you know of any roles / experience opportunities for part time work? TIA
Hey ! I don’t know of any opportunities in particular at the moment but the industry is great to be in. Agencies can help you make the transition into the industry. :)
I am a carpenter and want to understand how agency work, works? Do you clock in and out on site, is it a price per job, is it PAYE or invoice, frequency of payment and so on?

Hi, thank you for making this video. I am looking into starting a business in construction industry but I don't know where to begin. Do you have any tips for me?
Hi thanks for the vids very useful, am 27 years old currently working as a gateman just on a site which I find quite boring, I also have plastering experience which I want to continue but I know I can’t do this long term as it’s hard on your body after a while. I always wanted to get into site management what’s the best routes to take. Can I achieve this without going to uni ?
Yes you can become a manager without a degree. Most don’t have them. Most work their way up from labourer, to machine workerer or ganger to manager. You just have to show willing
I'm 19, I'm junior surveyor, and I'm graduate in geomatics engineering. I'm looking for job outside Indonesia. On here is very hard to get a job, bcs in Indonesia is too much surveyor's. And, on here, we get paid cheap. I have an construction surveyor experience. I was try find a job in UK for several times, but it's really hard, cause i didn't have work experience in UK, and maybe I was too young for them.
Hi. Great video thank you. Can I just ask your opinion on this please? I've been working in an office for 20 years on 30k a year but I've had enough and my brother in law has told me I can work with him cladding on a site but it means working away all week away from my family. I don't think that will bother me too much and I'm happy to work outdoors. I'm nearly 40 and have never done anything like this but I'm desperate for a change. So do you think there is good money and a career and worth the risk? Or do you think I'm crazy to be leaving a stable job ?
Wes T hey 👋. Well I would ask yourself if your happy where you are? If not take the risk! You have nothing to loose. There is good money in construction but you need to make sure you love what you do because being away from the family is hard. I’m all for risks but also make sure you find what makes you happy.

I remember when I were looking for job in Poland back in 2008 straight after graduating school, I walking around a different companies in my hometown and I had one experience were I was approaching boss one of the small companies and giving him CV and saying that I'm technician constructor - You won't believe - he laughed and said "A woman? A constructor?". This is haunting me till today but there is a hope because of the all those campaigns recruiting and encouraging women to construction industry. Who's laughing now, motherf... :P I've managed to claim Statement of Comparability for Construction Skills, I'm back on track. What worries me, NARIC let me to apply for blue CSCS Card but back in those times, my boss were laughing at me when I asked to take me on site. Even when I had explained that to NARIC - that I have office experience - they still written down blue CSCS Card...... England confuses meeeee :O Sorry for long comment :(
Kyouko Uzumaki ah so sorry to hear about your bad experience at the start. People can be so short sighted! Glad you are back on track those. The CScs card in the Uk is a terrible system.
Thanks , We are working our selves into the construction industry. Any tips for drone pilots ? Thanks for sharing. Bell has been 🎉

Well I currently am in the family business hanging drywall on commercial sites and have considered going up to a superintendent and project manager. I plan on going a community college and then university

Your points actually encouraged me.
it is unlikely you will get a job in the UK without a lot of experience

Thank you for reading!
hey! I’m not sure what PMP certs are? sorry

What if you forgot to do the Math that you suppose to know ?
Hi! One of your new subscribers here! Thank you for the informative videos!!! I've question too. I'm a BSc qualified civil engineer in Sri Lanka with site engineering experience of four years. Hey ! I don’t know of any opportunities in particular at the moment but the industry is great to be in. Agencies can help you make the transition into the industry. :)

Yes you can become a manager without a degree. Most don’t have them. Most work their way up from labourer, to machine workerer or ganger to manager. You just have to show willing
