As a value nerd who likes to whip out all the maths to find the best deals/values, I love this series and I'm glad to have found someone exactly like me
Yes! I do this too! I put the samples in homemade advent calendars..... I particularly always get the ones for men because boys are tougher to find things for!
When we had big Christmas with family (previous to 2020) I would collect all types of samples all year and then use the small Ipsy bags to make stocking stuffers. Now they give far fewer samples, Ulta doesn’t give you any on regular orders anymore.
I actually bought the lys blush trio because I wanted to try the formula and all the shades looked gorgeous and like something I would use! I really like them and they are actually a very decent size to be around $6.50 a piece! I would definitely recommend them if you're looking to try the formula in a few beautiful shades. Since having it, I personally feel like it is a very good value if you are looking for variety and trying the formula rather than a ton of bang for your buck!
Omg i got it too! I even used my $10 500 pts redeemed and it was an even better "deal"🤣🤣 The formula is so nice! I never tried the lys blushes before but this little set really surprised me. For some reason the triangle shape was really bothering me but i finally gave in. Idk man😂😂😂 Youre right though the shades are sooo gorg
LYS has my favourite cream blush formula, so I caved immediately to the set lol. I've wanted to try Empower for a while, plus Self-Love seemed too close to Confident to be the mauve/pink vibe I wanted, so the neutral pink shade is what really sold me on them and I can't wait for them to get here! And with the full-size already being so affordable compared to others in Sephora, paying a few dollar extra for slightly smaller sizes in 3 shades felt like a better investment for how long they may last you
Ladies, greetings from Ireland 👋☘️ I’m so glad I’m not the only one bothered by the triangular shaped packaging 😂 I have Aichmophobia/Sharp Edge Eye Syndrome (SEES) and I hate corners and sharp edges on furniture, buildings, cars etc… however… I had to somewhat overcome my phobia to try these LYS cream blushes and I now have the full sizes in six shades 😍 The formula is amazing and the holiday set has now been added to my cart 😂💵🫣
I feel like these value sets are better for gifts as opposed to buying them for yourself. If you’re shopping for yourself, it makes sense to choose the full size version of the product that you truly want. But when you’re looking to buy gifts, I would be willing to pay more just for the fact that all the products are packaged together in a nice way. Also they will get a bunch of cute mini products to play with which is helpful if you are unsure exactly what they like.
I treated myself to the Rare Beauty blush set and a little really does go a looooong way! I used one singular dot for both of my cheeks and even then I thought I used too much! The value set is definitely worth way more than it’s listed for.
As a perfume lover. I love perfume samples it’s way better than blind buying a full-size or travel especially when your Sephora does not carry many perfumes.
I got the rare beauty set and I really like it. The minis are a decent size and having a full size too is really nice. They also work nicely as a lip color. When it comes to sets anything that’s like a $8+ saving difference is worth it. Getting that much of a discount in my opinion isn’t bad
I’m 19 and I just started getting into makeup. So as a total noob (I’m talking didn’t even wear lip balm noob) I have been looking for smaller sizes of things to test them out and see if I like it, I’m also looking for a good set and deal. So these videos are everything to me. Super helpful and super informative. Also love your dedication to cruelty free brands.
During the pandemic Sephora stopped offering free fragrance samples in store (at least here in Toronto) which they had done for like 20 years, and now they are charging $30 for samples they use to give out for free, hoping we won’t notice it’s a rip off. Along with the changes to their points system where there is no benefit now to being a loyal customer, they seem to think we are pretty stupid and can’t do simple math. I used to buy most of my fragrances from them but considering this money grab now I try to avoid purchasing anything from Sephora if I can find it somewhere else, especially since they made how many billions in profits so they can definitely afford it. I hope Ulta comes to Canada, it would give some needed competition to Sephora’s monopoly.
Shoppers has A LOT of high end makeup now- and best of all you can use your PC points to buy them! Sephora has the worst points systems and they just take away points for no reason 😡
I agree that the perfume sampler sets for specific brands arent a great value per ounce, but I personally do still love them for brands I'm interested in trying out but not sure which scents I want to buy. While I can go into sephora and smell them individually, it's hard to test them all out and see how they wear/react with your body chemistry. To test out all of them on your body at sephora you'd have to visit the store at least 5 or 6 times for most of the discovery sets, which is just not feasible for most. I think it's better to buy the small sample sets (that actually tend to last for a while in my experience!) and test them before buying instead of buying a full size and then hating it and having to return. Better for the environment as well as sephora tosses all perfume returns. Love this series though! Your breakdowns are always interesting to watch.
Totally agree, I bought a replica sampler a couple years ago that had samplers of their entire product offering. Saved me the $$ of blind buying, plus I got to wear them and see how they worked with my body chemistry vs just smelling them in store. I’m not buying them for the reduced price value, I’m buying them for the cost savings of buying stuff I don’t like and convenience of trying many things.
Thank you for thie video! I rarely ever buy any "sets" but want to start exploring more options. Also, I'm excited that you're learning Korean😄. I'm a native Korean speaker, from Korea. So I'm always happy to hear when other people want to learn the language!
The Rare Beauty blush is sooo pigmented that even if I used it several times a day, every day, it would probably take me a long time to finish a full size one.
I have the rare beauty minis from a value set last year. It’s like i haven’t touched them and I’ve used them sooooooooo much. I bought a full size highlighter thinking it would be the size of their concealer. It’s not. It’s huge!!!! Girl. I’m never going to go through that. I won’t even go through a quarter of that!
I love that you do these videos. I think on a lot of these sets, a lot of times I am buying them for gifts and I break them up....I do homemade advent calendars and sometimes, this stuff is really useful. However, sometimes it's not. I am very interested in some perfume sets because I am totally on the hunt for a new one, so while I do want a set with variety, I also want there to be value there. And I agree on the Tarte value sets! Their amazonian clay blush sets are something I always buy and I just give the shades I don't want away and they do mascaras super well also and I always buy the trio set they offer. I don't think they do a bad mascara so that is something that is ALWAYS worth it to me.
Yes more videos of this series! There are so many lipstick 💄 sets coming out. I’m mostly interested in the sets that include 4 or so lip minis like Givenchy, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and Fenty gloss bomb trio ❤
I bought the tarte lip set and I love it! I have been using it for a few weeks so far and nothing has broken on me. I like 3/4 and will use 4/4 (I don't love the lipstick because I thought it was a bit drying). I did have one tarte maracuja juicy lips in the shade rose break on me. I have an amazing friend and husband who broke out the pliers and were able to replace the broken packaging with a functional one that I had just finished. I lost a little product in the process but I'm so glad they could save it for me!
Great job girl👏👏Thank you so much for this series!! A lot of us wouldn’t break down the prices like this, I know I wouldn’t…You doing this has saved me a lot of money this year for sure!! Some of these prices are just absurd and I wouldn’t have even realized it before I bought it😂 Keep them coming Kelly, I love this❤
I bought the rare beauty holiday blush set last year (it was 3 minis in 2021) and they still look brand new. Literally will probably have to use them for the rest of my life to use them up 😂
I'm so bad with math so I needed this series from you!! lol. And I have several minis of the Rare Beauty blush...i haven't finished those lol...I def think you never need the full size
Hi! thanks for your informative sets breakdown content. I am excited to try the tarte lip set. I bought it tarte's website and had a bunch of points there from previous purchases so i was able to get $20 off. I have never tried any of the maracuja lip products before. Sephora is a good go-to but sometimes the best deals from the brand sites themselves.
Kelly I am sorry you had a bad experience with the Tarte maracuja juicy lips! I own 9 of them in different formulas and none of mine have ever broken. I used up one completely and it worked perfectly the entire time. I don't like the click up packaging but it still works just fine.
I agree about the Rare Beauty blushes.I have some domed foil samples in the blush, highlight and lip products.I swear they refill at night like eye cream and eyeshadow primer do.
I got the rare beauty set recently. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I could not find all the colors out of season last year. So this year when I saw it again I snatched it up. I have a 2 regular size ones already, and even if you use 2 dots daily you won’t run out this year or the next or even the next. 1 dot goes a loooong way.
I love these videos!! It makes so much sense when you break it down. I’m such a sucker for cute packaging and deals but at the end of the day we don’t use half this crap!
Since both of the blush sets are formulas that are notorious for going a long way (and especially since LYS' cost for the size is already so good) those seem like a good value, and maybe cute stocking stuffer kinds of gifts. I know at least one of the LYS shades is a new, limited release shade so that ups the value too.
Lindsey I have six shades of the lys blushes in the full size… I love them. You get serious bang for your buck considering the amount of product you get for $16
@@evakearns2992 good to know they're loved! I don't use blush very often so I've been going back and forth about them for myself, but they look so good, they're so tempting!
How did I miss this video ? Lol. I’ve been busy with school. I’m catching up today. I totally appreciate Kaja including deeper shades for deeper skin tones unlike CT. I can’t ever buy sets unless they can work on my skin tone as I am a woman of color. (Native American ) live this series Kelly. Love your look today too.
I bought the mini Rare Beauty blush set last year, and I haven’t gone through any of them. I also have a micro-mini that I got in an order earlier this year. I haven’t even gone through the micro! Granted the color is a more Fall/Winter color so I’ve only recently started using it more. But still, it’s micro!
I've loved this series!! I calculate value also when I see the sets. Most of them are not worth it to me, unless it's a mini of something that I really want and know that I won't use all the way if I get a full size. I did get the Lys Beauty blushes, it's the only set I liked and cream blushes take forever for me to use. Also had a coupon and after tax I got the set for $11.
OMGosh! I bought two of those maracuja juicy lips and SEPARATE times from two separate Sephora stores, and they both broke on me after about 3-4 uses. They need to just switch to twist up packaging.
I have to think the Too Faced price is a typo - maybe they meant $93 or $109? Granted, given their track record on holiday sets, you're still overpaying for glorified Claire's eyeshadow. I have to speak for the Tarte Surfer Curl Mascara - actually a full size in the SEA gift set. It's really underrated! My only complaint is that the name implies that it's waterproof. (It's not, but it does last well.)
Love this Video so much.💜 It always amazes me how expensive Too Faced items are for their not so amazing quality. But here in Austria you even have to spen around 65€ to buy 1! TF palette. Like no thanks. Too much money and there are so many indie brands out there which create outstanding makeup and even sell their products for a lower pricepoint.
I’ve been buying the Kaja sets for the last two years. However, this year they put in the same blush as last year. I actually love this blush formula especially with a brush. I just dip my brush into the cushion.
Thank you for putting all this together! It’s a huge help for creating my Christmas list! I received the rare beauty blush set last Christmas and it is very pigmented! The set came in 3 minis and I’m still trying to work through the first one but I also do not wear makeup on a daily basis.
In the GISON set, i think its really worth it because they are actually full size products and the price individually for each one estimate about $40-45 dollars each, so it worth it and if you like to style your hair and take care of it, it is definitely worth it! also the rare, beauty set is worth it!
I picked up the LYS blushes and they’re amazing. The “mini” size at 4 grams is actually deceiving as they’re nearly the same size as the full size in other brands (Rose Inc blushes are 4.5 grams, Salt New York blushes are 4.2 grams, for example). I have a bit too much love for cream blush so huge blushes aren’t needed. Even so, they’re a generous size for anyone. I also picked up the Rare Beauty kit and it’s enough blush for me and 10 others for life so I love the mini size. Of the two, surprisingly I prefer the LYS. I so enjoy this series-the geek in me is in her happy place. 💜🙂💜🙂
I'm close to using up one of the soft pinch blushes. But it's in a really sheer shade "bliss". Mine has always been kinda watery (idk how else to explain it) but you really need to layer it for it to show up (I like my blush to be pigmented). I've had it for around 1 year or so and it's the only one of the 3 that I bought at the same time that actually looks used up. So yeah in my experience the more sheer the shade is the fastest you use it up, at least with the matte formula.
Thanks so much for these! I do miss your shop my stash videos, but with holiday time, I know it’s probably hard to fit them in. I would love an SMS for Thanksgiving meal/gathering and then another one for Christmas or other December gathering. If that would be something you’re interested in doing.
ive been talking about the mini lash stash for months!!! i usually buy minis (bc I never keep them long enough to go through a full size) and all 5 minis alone are more than double the cost plus you get a redeemable full size! the ilia I already knew I liked, the caliray I found hard to remove, the item and saie really surprised me, and I had tried the milk kush one in the past but this one was way better I wonder if it was reformulated.
You are so pretty I love your hoop earrings and your hair tucked behind your ears with a Sleek middle part I do that all the time when my hair is down looks really good with those earrings
I paid $75 for a mother's day perfume sampler set. It came with 8 designer perfumes that have actually lasted me from April all the way till now and I still am currently using a few samples now! The perk of the box was you get a full size perfume coupon. So I chose the YSL black opium that was $83. Definitely feel like I won🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I got the set of three mini Rare Beauty blushes last year and they are plenty big enough. I don’t understand why that’s not the full size, those are so big. And the massive highlighters!! Why? I love the minis, so last years set of three made good sense to me.
I bought a mini set from Rare beauty for holiday 2020 and one of the blushes has sadly changed texture on me and it’s very watery instead of pigmented like it used to be :( but it was very good while it lasted
I’m loving these videos! I can’t wait to hear you say “when I did the math” 💪🏻 I’m always “doing the math” to determine savings lol love your content. Keep on shining! 💗💕💫🌟
It wasn't mentioned but, with the Saie duo highlight set - one of the shades is limited edition and you can't buy it separately. Personally, i prefer this new shade the most! The difference is subtle though 🙃
Hey Kelly! I don't think anyone would be surprised if you decided to try a powder from RareBeauty as your 1st product from them 😂 Not saying that's what I think you got, but it would NOT shock me if ya did! LOVE these videos! However, I wouldn't necessarily be so charitable with Tarte and some of their set's "real value" pricing. Any chance you happened to check out the suggested "value" of that Tarte eyeshadow set with the 2 larger palettes? (Spoiler: They got REAL creative with this one 😂) For that set, Tarte gave a suggested price for around $252 (they're selling it for $54) and all you're getting is two 18-pan eyeshadow palettes!! Since when is Tarte selling eyeshadow palettes for $126?!? Tarte really out here choosing violence for this year's holiday season!! 🤣🤣 I was actually interested in this set, too. I was gonna keep the cool one and give away the warm one, but after seeing that suggested price it totally turned me off of buying from them.
You mentioned you were learning Korean. I have been looking into learning it as well, I hope to visit South Korea one day:). What are you using as learning tools?
I'd slightly disagree with perfume sample sets because different perfume can wear differently on different people throughout a day. A set is just easier than going to Sephora multiple times to test perfumes. Im lucky most perfumes work well with me but ive had a few that wear off weird later in the day.
1. Too faced is absolutely off their rocker with that price evaluation. Who decided putting that was a gold idea? 2. Rare beauty blush is def insanely pigmented. It would probably take YEARS of regular use to finish one of them. I have one of her cream shadow things and it's the same way. One tiny dot for both eyes. Reminds me of how far you can go with benetint lip and cheek stain. I've used that stuff almost daily for 3 years and I'm just now at the bottom of my bottle.
As a value nerd who likes to whip out all the maths to find the best deals/values, I love this series and I'm glad to have found someone exactly like me
Have you watched TooMuchTash when she does her breakdowns of usage and values? I love it!!!
I can't get enough of these videos! I am a nerd for shopping math.
Hahaha me too!
That perfume SAMPLE set! 🤣 I made step-daughter a perfume sample advent calendar for free with all the samples I collected over the last 6 months!
Yes! I do this too! I put the samples in homemade advent calendars..... I particularly always get the ones for men because boys are tougher to find things for!

They need to just switch to twist up packaging.
just found your channel today and i subscribed you seem so chill but also so entertaining!!
I've never thought you'd be into korean language. Surprised! I've learned a bit it's fun. Good luck❤️
Ooh that’s a great tip!
Never tried the Rare Beauty eyeliner or mascara but I ordered this set to try them out lol
Thank you for putting all this together! It’s a huge help for creating my Christmas list!
I received the rare beauty blush set last Christmas and it is very pigmented! The set came in 3 minis and I’m still trying to work through the first one but I also do not wear makeup on a daily basis.
Thank you for this thoroughly researched video! Went to buy the Tarte eye set and the link leads to Howl, not the product. Same with another link.
In the GISON set, i think its really worth it because they are actually full size products and the price individually for each one estimate about $40-45 dollars each, so it worth it and if you like to style your hair and take care of it, it is definitely worth it! also the rare, beauty set is worth it!
kelly you will love the item mascara i have 2 of them their eye makeup is awesome
Kelly girl your makeup is just so pretty and grunge I love it ☺️ this will be my next eyeshadow look
Thanks for another fun video, Kelly! I enjoyed GRW-Kelly this morning and hearing your thoughts on these products!
Hi Risa, I have six of the full size LYS blushes now 😂 They are amazing!! I’ve now added the holiday set to my cart 🫣🤣
Looove the eye look. Looks great with the shirt ❤️
I LOVE LYS blushes!!! You should def try it.
For the liquid and cream products though you are racing against the clock because they always expire faster
Thanks so much for these! I do miss your shop my stash videos, but with holiday time, I know it’s probably hard to fit them in. I would love an SMS for Thanksgiving meal/gathering and then another one for Christmas or other December gathering. If that would be something you’re interested in doing.
I love this! It's so useful to get gifts for Christmas parties!
Your makeup looks amazing for Fall. 😍
ive been talking about the mini lash stash for months!!! i usually buy minis (bc I never keep them long enough to go through a full size) and all 5 minis alone are more than double the cost plus you get a redeemable full size! the ilia I already knew I liked, the caliray I found hard to remove, the item and saie really surprised me, and I had tried the milk kush one in the past but this one was way better I wonder if it was reformulated.
I really appreciate these videos! Will you do an Ulta specific video too?
i just ordered the mascara set! love you for breaking down the deals for us ❤❤❤
I got the set of three mini Rare Beauty blushes last year and they are plenty big enough. I don’t understand why that’s not the full size, those are so big. And the massive highlighters!! Why? I love the minis, so last years set of three made good sense to me.
I might actually get that mascara set you talked about last. I'm always on the hunt for a good mascara.
I am addicted to this series ur awesome girl
I bought a mini set from Rare beauty for holiday 2020 and one of the blushes has sadly changed texture on me and it’s very watery instead of pigmented like it used to be :( but it was very good while it lasted
I love these videos - would love to see one on Ulta’s sets too😊
Subscribed to this series well done gal...coming from uk
Thanks for watching!
Love this series. Please keep doing this! I've even click the bell button to watch more haha
im sooooo getting the rare beauty bundles!!!!
I’m loving these videos! I can’t wait to hear you say “when I did the math” 💪🏻 I’m always “doing the math” to determine savings lol love your content. Keep on shining! 💗💕💫🌟
What do you think about the olaplex sets ?
I love these videos Kelly! I’m looking for gifts and these videos are so helpful
It wasn't mentioned but, with the Saie duo highlight set - one of the shades is limited edition and you can't buy it separately. Personally, i prefer this new shade the most! The difference is subtle though 🙃
I love these videos! We need more 😊 thank you for all your hard work.
Hi Tilly! Thank you for doing this series- it's so interesting.
I love your shirt! Where did you get it?
Thank you! It’s from Target :)
Keep it going!! I love the series
Especially for cream/liquid products I prefer to spend a little more per ounce for a mini because I don’t finish them before they go off.
Thank you for doing this series!
I LOVE this series ❤️
You mentioned you were learning Korean. I have been looking into learning it as well, I hope to visit South Korea one day:). What are you using as learning tools?
Hmmmm I wanna say that you got the cream bronzer from rare beauty!
I'd slightly disagree with perfume sample sets because different perfume can wear differently on different people throughout a day. A set is just easier than going to Sephora multiple times to test perfumes.
Im lucky most perfumes work well with me but ive had a few that wear off weird later in the day.
I have had my rare beauty blush for over a year, it’s full size and I have barely used any product.
The Clean Reserve sample set wasn’t just released! It’s been around for awhile
What's your opinion on the 150$ advent calendar?
Great video. Thanks Kelly!
I bought the mascara set to use as stocking stuffers and I threw away the voucher!! Didn’t even look at it! 😢
Oh no!! 😭😭😭
