  • We are very excited to be the first in orange county California/Southern California to offer radio frequency ablation (RFA) of the thyroid, a FDA approved procedure for patients with benign thyroid nodule instead of surgery and also toxic Nodule instead of radioactive iodine ablation of the thyroid.
    This procedure has revolutionized the treatment protocol for large compressive thyroid nodule and toxic nodule outcomes. This is the way of the future!

    Dr Nikraven performed an RFA on my thyroid in Aug, 2020. After 4 weeks, the nodule that was affecting my swallowing and voice was reduced over 33% with maximum results seen in about 3 months. My voice is now normal as I don't feel the "lump" in swallowing. It kept me from having surgery!! Miraculous!!

      Hello again. I just had a sonogram done and my nodule is on the left side and is 8 cm; that seems bigger than what it is, but that's what I was told. Would you recommended pursuing RFA or surgery?

    Hello doctor, can this size of thyroid gland Candidate for RFA ..this is us finding ..(enlarged both the thyroid gland lobes and isthmus.with multiple well defined nodules variable in size showing variable echogenecity but predominantly hypo.isoechoic to the gland appear hypovascular to the thyroid gland on doppler exam
    Largest nodule in RTlobe 37×26mm.
    Largest nodule in left lobe 44×40mm some of these nodules showing multiple cystic areas but no flecks of macro calcification ...associated with LTsided retro sternal extention .picture suggest multinodular goiter...

      Thyroid RFA can be very beneficial and helpful if you have solid confined nodules even if they are cystic with some solid component. Is best that we review your images to make a better determination.
      Feel free to reach out to my office to set up a consultation so I can review your images and give you a precise answer.

      Yes, it takes time for these procedures to become FD approved even though we have received FD approval in late 2018 now in 2024 still doctors are referring patients for surgery while this great procedure exist

      Were you able to ablate the whole nodule or will the patient need another session? What is the expected result with a nodule so big?

    • @Pezhman101
      @Pezhman101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carpe Omnia The majority of the nodule was ablated. Since it was very larger and very close the major nerves and vessels along the the Trachea, A 5 mm margin was left alone To prevent any injury and preserve the thyroid capsule. This technique is very safe and significantly lessens the risk of any complications.
      This technique allows the retraction of the thyroid nodule off the important surrounding structures if compressing against them. I would be happy to take a look at your case if you can forward me your images. Please communicate with me via email at sean@seannikravanmd.com or you may call the office for a virtual consultation.

      @@mamamia8259 Hello, I feel great!! My nodule has shrunken down half the size, but it’s still hard to the touch. Not sure what’s up with that. I have to schedule a follow up visit. I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m thinking maybe the doctor over did it, I’m not sure, but when I asked him about it, he told me it was normal. But everyone that I asked, that has gotten the procedure, said they didn’t experience hardness. So I don’t know, but I would still recommend RFA over getting your thyroid removed and being on a pill for the rest of your LIFE!!! I am not on any medication!!
