      I NEED TO talk to Pete about his live for comic books on my show "Hip-Hop & Comics" Ive had his brother Grap Luva, Jeru The Damaja, and Pharoahe Monch on the show but never a producer or iconic legend like Pete Rock!
      I know he loves comic books and is a big collector since a little kid.
      Plz tell him to get at me and talk about two things he loves on "Hip-Hop & Comics" (channel is my name) 💯✌

Rick Rubin and Larry Smith also got to be mentioned. So many other great producers like Daz, Q-Tip, Mannie Fresh, Battlecat, Cold 187, Timbaland, Scott Storch, Ant Banks, Mantronix and so many more.

    Pete Rock is in my top 3 favorite hip hop producers of all time. "The World Is Yours" is probably my favorite track of all time. First time I heard it was after midnight on 106.1 KMEL back in the summer of '94. Life changing for me. The piano hook sucked me in. My husband was partially responsible for me discovering that certain jazz artist that Pete sampled on this track.

    • @craigbrown6718
      @craigbrown6718 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@ghostshipone I didn’t know the true story between T.R.O.Y. I just know the dancer had died but didn’t know how he died. + I met Cl Smooth here in Jamaica, in ‘98 days he was visiting family. PR and Heavy D are cousins who are of Jamaican descent, so they are brothers from a different mother. Plus the sample he used in T.R.O.Y. I stumbled upon it when going through samples on YT. And it was spiritual just hearing outside the song. God is the greatest. PR music is not just jazz influence but soul and reggae as well. And I am a fan of Nas.
      Plus the ‘The World is yours’ is one of my favorite songs of all time. With or without the vocals. Just the piano makes you think of Sunday dinner at big mamas house. Just family with your cousins, aunts and uncles. The Mac and cheese, collards greens, soul food. Right sample right track. It fits.
      Jamaica is still the birthplace of hip hop starting with Kool Herc. He is the reason we have the PR, Heavy D, Large Professor , Black Moon, Dougie Fresh , KRS 1 etc. Even Vesrus is Jamaican ideology also known Sound Clashing.
      Therefore I cry.

    You know that Tracklib is the G.O.A.T. when they use that performance of P.E. from the British TV show "The Word". I was a teenager watching that on a Friday night. There was a problem with the Mic's or something and Chuck couldn't hear himself rap. Flavor did an adlib that was killer, then the Mic issue got resolved and the performance was killer. The crowd was rockin' well done Tracklib for mining that clip. I always picture that night whenever I hear that remix.

      @@frondantrieb No bad blood between Pete and InI, but he probably feels guilty after Elektra fucked over InI by not releasing their album even though the Fakn' Jax single was a hit. Then he tried making amends with the group by releasing the album through BBE and get them some money but the label pulled some funky buisness with Pete and everyone got screwed out of what they were owed. That's most of it i think. Plus the 'official' version of Center Of Attention that was put out was botched and fucked up, all the tracks are in the wrong order and a bunch of Pete's instrumentals are missing plus it's missing a song too. Such a tragic situaction i don't blame Pete if he wants to distance himself from those experiences. So if you want to experience the album they intended you'll have to do some sluething for some bootleg test pressing floating out in cyberspace...
