50..50..50..no matter how many times I say it you are old now, you look good for 50…oh wait, your ‘50’th Takedown Tuesday, I should have finished the paragraph, well never nevermind.👍🏼😃Great job on your channel 👏
What, exactly, are you after? Are you saying that God does not exist? Even Richard Dawkins admits that religion helps people not do evil things. Are you old enough to remember Columbine? Two boys walk onto their campus, point-blank execute their classmates, then took their own lives. They hated people and hated life. Now, they are rewarded with eternal 'sleep'? The more you vent your personal vendetta against God, the more of this madness will dominate the earth. Families are grieving because of this so-called 'good news' of yours. I know you are opposed to the Bible (I hope that changes!), but I recently saw a copy of "The Darwin Awards" on a middle school bookshelf. I read the first chapter. It was about a 'stupid' woman walking too many dogs and they pulled her into a tree stump that took her life. The book makes the point that such 'natural selection' makes the human race stronger. The chapter ends with the joke, "I guess she was barking up the wrong tree." What do you think about Darwin taught to our kids? If you are a teacher, you can see the effects; within a decade or so, kids have become really poorly behaved. In fact, they act like animals. Is that your goal with these videos, to see people act like animals? I hope you will go from your fake Christian faith (were you born again, filled with the Holy Spirit, seated in the heavenlies with Christ?) to genuinely knowing and loving God. It's not too late, Brandon. Yet, if you stand before God after your hour-after-hour of mocking God and the Bible, there will be hell to pay. Not just hell, but I think I can show Biblically that those who deliberately lead people away will receive the greater condemnation. Hell is really awful. There is no love, nor kindness, nor mercy. Think of the most amoral population groups! Think of a third world prison. It is better than hell! Christ is real. Through the same pride and bitterness you reveal on your posts, you missed that. Instead, your 'Christian' experience was just the belief in hell with no assurance you won't wind up there. I can understand why you 'fell away.' Yet, I live in the peace and joy of the Lord. He is my best friend. He died on a Cross so that I may know Him; it is a friendship. You will meet Him too one day. I just hope that it is as a friend and not as His enemy: the enemy of everything that is good and right in this world and beyond. I hope you make it to heaven, my friend! Jesus Christ is the light of the world.
@MindShift-Brandon Hey dude. You've been working hard. It's perfectly fine and understandable. Everybody needs time off to rest, spend time with the wife, kids, family, relax, and even for mental health. I understand, and it's all good.
Wow. I was a sign language interpreter at a large church out west. Once the healer called up all the Deaf people to the stage to heal them. Some did not go but some were compelled by desperation up on stage. He prayed over them and one Deaf woman claimed she heard ringing in her ear. The pastor proclaimed them all as healed. Then they came back to the congregation. And they stayed Deaf. And I stayed their interpeter. And no one ever asked after them again.
@@MindShift-Brandon in the minds of 99% of the church, they're healed because the healer said so. They weren't people that night, they were props. It was a defining moment in my fall away from Christianity. I think about the shame the lady with ringing ears must feel. The disconnectedness, and the fact that hundreds of people were misled to believe they watched God give a Deaf woman hearing
@@MindShift-BrandonIt’s a requirement. Wouldn’t work otherwise but it truly tells you that the priority is not the person, at all. It’s the impact the “healing” has on the congregation.
@@gavinyoung-philosophyits crazy how these people gaslight and also use the no true Scotsman fallacy on you, they may even want you to burn in hell; but by God I wouldn’t want heaven if anyone even them are burning in hell forever… I obviously don’t want hell either but I’d sacrifice my life and cease to exist if I could if that means people don’t have to suffer forever; but then if there’s a God He wouldn’t be less understanding or loving or merciful than me, nor less intelligent. I still believe in God but definitely superior to anything religionists claim, especially not one that commands people to kill babies and rip off foreskins and take young women captive, etc. Peace.
Two of my uncles died of cancer (one was only in his 40s with 5 young children); my aunt has cancer, my pastor/dad has cancer. All believers in faith healing, all prayed for - none healed. Yet, last week when I pointed this out as a failure on God’s part for prayers to be answered I was accused of focusing on the negative!! These people do not live in reality. There is no reasoning with them!! 🤦🏼♀️
I definitely noticed that all Christians I know were completely silent regarding the gay night club murders, speaking out would have been a good way for them to demonstrate that they do at least care about the lives of those they claim to "hate the sin, but love the sinner".
If God really wanted to do "everything in his power" to keep humans from Hell, there would be no Hell to begin with. The best way to keep humans from going to Hell, is not to make it in the first place.
Or don't make humans who will be born into a sinful and harmful world and subject them to the possibility Hell. If any of this is true, parents are sadistic.

Frank Turek has an interesting answer as to why people such as myself were specifically created to go to hell. He said that our godly purpose was to help Christians get closer to god by showing them what happens to people who don't accept JC. That's right, we are pawns in gods game to help Christians be better Christians. The fact that FT is okay with this just blows me away.
So what happened to free will? Let me guess: god created you to “freely” choose to go to hell. Am I right? Btw If you want to really get blown away check William Lane Craig latest conversion with Alex O’Connor. He happily doubles down and justifies genocide of both adults AND children.
That's one of the big problems with the doctrine of eternal hell. If you follow it to its ultimate logical consequences, it means that most humans are simply instruments, or objects, to help in the salvation of A FEW christians. Even from a christian point of view, its impossible to really love others as yourself if ultimately others are just steps in a staircase to heaven (and avoidance of hell).
@@matheusmuylart2597 It imbues your family with an indifferent psychopathy towards you and your fate. Some even laughing at you and mocking you while they disown you. The possession is projected.
Having come out of an evangelical background, "We are so persecuted" has always been one of their mantras, and I think that comes from two things. One, many passages of the New Testament make the claim that Christians are supposed to be persecuted for being Christian. Two, claiming persecution is used as a scapegoat by many Christians when they get into some kind of social or legal trouble regardless of whether or not the trouble has anything to do with their being Christian.
I'd add a third one: Often the trouble they get into HAS actually something to do with their being Christian, because many Christians (I won't say all, I'm one myself) tend to become unsufferable when proclaiming their faith (I speak from personal experience 🙂)
More irony in the demonic possession video is that people who believe in Jesus are still capable of being "possessed." Dude even said the demon was "illegal" and wasn't supposed to be there then commanded it to leave instead of Jesus not letting it be there in the first place.
@@chadkndr That's not even sarcasm/snark ("/s"). In the Gospels, there's a scene where Jesus heals a man from some demonic affliction or other, and his disciples ask "Who sinned, this man or his father, to allow this to happen?" And Jesus replies that it was not the man or his father who sinned to cause the problem, but it was allowed to happen so Jesus would be glorified by healing him. Also, if you were to ask the people in that church, they would probably agree that it was all about Jesus getting glory.
I am nauseated by the Victimhood of the Christian Church and Faith. You made a great point about the fact that these were reported as crimes while she was idiotically saying that "these are never crimes"
Satan is kinda based. >Convinced ⅓ of the angels to rebel against God >He is an ancient being. He was there in the creation of earth, his wisdom is beyond comprehension. >Knows God personally and knows his power, yet he rebels against this infinite power. My man has real balls. >Badass visuals, he is the most beautiful of the angels. >Gave humanity the knowledge of good and evil, while God tried to keep us ignorant.
Read up on the Romantic Satanism. It is a fascinating literary movement that redefined how people interpreted various aspects of Abrahamic mythology and folklore
Don't forget how there's not even one instance in that holy text that most believers never read where Satan orders any demons around - heck, he doesn't even order the angels he convinced around. On the other hand, pretty much all of the orders given to angels and demons are from God/Jesus and usually directly so.
@@MindShift-Brandon I am suspecting that the "it's never a crime" in her context, is an effort at conflating actual crimes, with examples of churches being held to legal standards just like everyone else. Like being "persecuted" by having in person services suspended during a pandemic.

The New Testament is clear if you are not being perscuted (as Jesus and Paul both stated) then you are not being a true witness of the life of Jesus living in you. Thanks Brandon. My cousin is (near) deaf. When she found out I was an atheist we, and her sister, who is fluent in ASL (unfortunately I am not) in order to translate have had a lot of fun chats on the whole 'speaking in tongues' thing that seems popular in some evangelical circles. She jokes that anyone 'speaking in tongues' would seem to her to be 'demonically possessed' as she is especially adept at reading lips and is familiar with speech patterns. She reminds me that her and the deaf community are especially proficient at recognizing when someone is spouting gibberish versus attempting to communicate.
She can not understand because it is a language given to the believer in Christ who is baptized in the Holy Spirit. It is a heavenly language not known in the languages of the world. What's hilarious about the "Demon will not say Jesus is god" is there's an episode in Mark where Jesus tells a demon to shut up when it says "I know who you are". So apparently demons can say that or Jesus wouldn't have to tell one not to. These guys can't or won't read thier own damn book.
I agree that most Christians don’t read their holy book… but to be fair, the book contradicts so much, it’s almost not their fault for having this view. If you attempt to hold one stance in the book, you’re violating another somewhere else in it. Yes, what you said is true, but this verse also exists: ”Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says “Let Jesus be cursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit.“ 1 Corinthians 12:3 So it really does shoot itself in the foot by claiming all scripture is god breathed. Has you twisting yourselves in pretzels trying to make it all work, and when you can’t make it work, you just have to pick and choose the doctrine you believe in since it literally contradicts itself. I know all too well from my personal years of attempting to establish firm doctrinal beliefs before departing from it completely a few months ago
I’ve been laughing throughout this video. These exorcisms are really funny. One time in church a pastor placed his hand on my forehead and stomach. He started spinning me around, wanting me dizzy down but I held my ground. He whispered to me, “let loose so Jesus can take control”. I said I’m not falling, this is my favorite shirt.😂

It got about 50 responses mentioning two or three different churches and I was floored no one condemned this person for thinking their children are full of the devil. so I said well I felt needed to be said and pissed off a lot of people lol needless to say she blocked me but I feel horrible for what the kids must be going through with a demented parent you know they're gonna have psychological issues because of the parent and basket case preachers and naïve attendees that think people are possessed by demons just think those children are growing up thinking they're full of demons because they're told that so they're probably gonna act bad because they think they're supposed to that's the epitome of child abuse and mental torture the parents shouldn't be near any children neither should pastors or other people who think their children are full of demons
@@CommonSense_Skeptic You have missed some important foundational truths. Firstly, "the gift of the discerning of spirits" has to be in operation through the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:10) There are unwise Christians who fail to embrace this truth first. And in the ministry of Jesus we see this story of a child being delivered from demonic oppression..."Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.” Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth. So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. "Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him." (Mark 9:17-18, 20-26)
I'm still waiting for the YEC that actually believes there's a solid dome over the earth like in Genesis 1:7. Even Ken Ham, who claims to read the Bible literally, never talks about that part.
I think I threw line in all of these videos is that on some level it preys on the audiences' fear. Fear of being persecuted, fear of demons, and fear of possession.
I am a former Christian minister/assistant pastor. I really enjoy your channel and videos. You approach things in a logical and common sense way. I really appreciate what you do. I also love your sedular bible studies. You dont interject anything... you let the bible speak for itself. Your approach is unique, but it resonates with me as a thinker. Keep going man. I'm so glad you brought up the problem of Satan knowing he is supposed to lose in the end yet, for some reason, decides to go full steam ahead with this plan that is supposed to lead to his demise, Brandon. This is one of the biggest logical issues I had with the idea of the end times. Pastors always say something like "Satan knows his time is short, so he rages against humanity." And I would be sitting there thinking "If I wanted to pick a fight with someone I know can and would kill me no problem, that would be really stupid of me. So, why would this being that is supposedly so much more intelligent than me do something this stupid?" Watching your videos helped me realize that my criticisms of the logic found in the Bible were valid and that I wasn't just a horrible, faithless being that couldn't see the glory of God. I officially realized I am an atheist on Nov. 4th of last year; the same day I found your channel. Thanks for all of your work! You are definitely helping people who feel confused.
Enjoy the eclipse! I'm going to Ohio this weekend to watch it. Some days it would certainly be nice to have a God that I could pray to and ensure a cloudless afternoon.
My mother who grew up in radically Islamic Iran, thought that Christianity was a much more reasonable and senseable religion than Islam based on how the US is so great and many people are Christians in the US. After I showed her clips like these faith healings, she realized it wasn't christanity that made the US progress this far. 😂
My pet theory about the giant sons of the Nephilim (strictly for my own entertainment) were the Bible's explanation as to why demigods like Gilgamesh, Heracles, Dionysus, and Perseus came into existence. Obviously, I can't square the circle as to why Gilgamesh and company weren't described as giants, but as I said, it's no sweat off my posterior. Enjoy your trip to see the eclipse and don't forget to blast Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" when the moon "covers" the sun! 😄
Persecuted. Not prosecuted. But yeah. I would say that it is kind of odd for a majority religion to feel so threatened, but then I know that this is exactly how nationalists and racists work as well. "Look, our culture/genes/faith is under threat, soon we will be a minority and then be hunted, killed and whatnot!" Far right panic of becoming the victim of the horrors they imposed on others.
Common things in the rhetoric. Persecution, arguments from popularity, incredulity, ignorance. Magical thinking. The list goes on... Great video Brandon ❤
My mom was (maybe still is... idk she doesn't talk to me anymore) really big into demonology, casting out demons, etc. Even before I deconverted, I found it puzzling when she would say something like "Oh, the demons are at work today! Every single traffic light turned red just as I was approaching it. Every. Single. One." So, demons are supposed to be evil beings that fight God, and they are supposedly far more clever than we are because they've been at work since the beginning, and the best they can do is mess with traffic lights to make you a couple minutes late getting home from the grocery store??
Oof, that "God did every single thing at his disposal, to stop people from going to hell." So much nonsense we could unpack. So, the only thing at his disposal, was to allow a single loophole, via requiring a brutal torture and killing, to allow himself to forgive us. Conditionally of course. That he needs the sacrifice, Implies that there are external rules dictating what behaviors God can have. Even though Christians won't hold their God to the same standards that their God holds them to. I would love to learn what standards that God is actually required to hold to. If that were all that were at God's disposal, that would make for a remarkably impotent God. And God not sending anyone to hell, is akin to saying that a mugger holding a gun to our heads, saying your wallet or your life, wouldn't be the one potentially killing us, since we had a choice. While it may be true that choosing to keep the wallet would be profoundly foolish, and show some volition influencing the results, let's not lie about who is managing the scenario. The theology that God's justice requires hell, doesn't work without God being the judge. It amazes me when Christians spout that line about God not sending anyone to hell, with a straight face. Of course in this case it wasn't a straight face, but a joyful one, that he the opportunity to smugly throw that line out.
Kingdom theology teaches that in Genesis 1, God gave humans dominion over the earth, not himself or any other spirit. Therefore, in order for spirits to operate on earth, they must have license to do so through a human. I listened to that for a while bc it explains these restraints that God seemed to have, only able to save humanity one way through Christ. Myles Munroe taught this. It’s like pseudo intelligence. Basically God created the world to operate on laws and principles that he himself won’t violate because he’s the epitome of integrity in this particular Christian view. Now that I’m deconverted it’s just like what sort of idiot would give dominion solely to humans he knows are gonna fail and he’s gonna have to wipe most of them out physically and spiritually? If this God were real, he’d literally just be some sadist playing a sick game against his creation
@@JDrocks4ever interesting, though that line of explanation seems to have a problem or two. Nobody is ultimately saved until they die, and I'm not sure how many Christians would place the afterlife on Earth. It does provide some insight as to how God's actions on Earth are constrained. But here, the relevant action is God's forgiveness, and the constraints on that. And again, saying God was just on Earth, is a problem. Also, now that I think about it, it is quite the extension, to say that dominion over the Earth, includes dominion over man. And finally, it flies in the face of the bible. The God in the old testament, took a very hands on approach with his people. Walking among them, smiting sinners, providing numerous commandments. Heck, how hands off was Noah's flood?
Instead of hiring a person to do sign language, surely it is far cheaper to get the preacher to heal all the deaf folks by means of his god-given powers over invisible demons and such. It would be such a wonderful demonstration of the amazing power of faith-healing. What's to not like?
@CharlesPayet That boy seems "methed up." Or maybe he has a better kind of "boo." Reminds me of an old Cheech and Chong marijuana "ad" 'No stems, no seeds that you don't need...Acapulco Gold is badass weed.'
People send themselves to hell in the same way criminals send themselves to prisons. -They even give the keys politely to the warden!- Edit: I've been told that they in fact, do not give the keys to the warden. He wants to let them out so much, but they just won't give him the key to open the door.
And the all-powerful, all-loving, omnipresent warden can't do anything but sadly watch them sit in their cell all day. He can't tear down the jail, he can't open up the cell and just carry them out, he can't even put out the eternal fire that's going on in everyone's cell.
There's a really small, storefront church I pass regularly that has in HUGE letters, "Miracles, Signs and Wonders" and I need to ask anyone attending which of these happens on a regular basis because that church should be Mega with claims like that!
"Jesus said (to him), “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” And yet it is so evident for so many...."for not all have faith." (2 Thessalonians 3:2b)
My take on the common thread is … they’re all shamelessly and knowingly lying knowing that NOBODY in the moment will call them out cause they have the power in their scenario.

Even worse than the notion that Yahweh gave angels/demons male genitalia and sexual desires is the fact that the Bible never once mentions the existence of a female angel. Jesus is portrayed telling his followers that "in the Kingdom of God we will be like the angels, neither marrying nor giving in marriage." So, according to the Christian story, Yahweh created an entire species of beings as males with sexual, romantic and social needs (the "sons of god" in Genesis 6 don't just violate the women and scoot off back to Heaven, they defect to Earth, marry, and settle down), but without any females of their own kind. So these poor creatures have to live with blue balls for eternity, constantly resisting sexual temptation from the mere existence of human females (who must cover their heads "because of the angels," i.e., in order to not tempt them so much). What a fantastic, perfect plan, surely a product of omniscient foresight, unlimited power, and perfect morality! /s
21:26 This is just me speculating, but it seems as though this is the second take, where the first one had to be scrapped because you laughed out loud 🤣. On a more serious note, I expected you to first discuss the blindingly obvious affectation of the woman's acting; however, you first explored an avenue I had never considered and is a more compelling argument against the scam of faith healing. That possession stuff is ridiculous. I have a very hard time not thinking that it's all scripted. It all just seems very silly, up to the moment they actually start hurting people.
I'm not aware of those demonic possession churches here in Europe. The stuff is really sad, i wish those people find a good therapist and get support through their trauma.
I’d love to see you do a run down on the evolution of the devil character. In the bit I’ve looked at it, he keeps acquiring more power, until he is viewed now as basically as strong as the Bible god. normally this litany of fake victimhood from this religious group annoys me, but today it actually lifted my mood, maybe because the grouping of examples starkly shows how deluded and disturbed these people are, how victimhood is linked to identity, how this all adds up to nonsense created for people who live with a very small, isolated world view. Still serious consequences to those affected, absolutely, but helps me put my focus on what can be done to counter the negative impacts of this religion rather than wasting my time being annoyed and frustrated by the ignorance and narcissism. Thanks, Brandon.

I do just want to point out that many people who are Deaf/HoH do not consider it a personal lack or as something they would change, even if it were possible. I think your point stands, though; in most evangelical spaces I've been in, all sorts of disability are seen as manifestations of human fallenness and the evils of this world, so I'm sure they would consider deafness something to be cured and saved from. The irony of having a sign language interpreter in such a setting, where the performance of demon possession so often caricatures visible disability, is truly sinister.
The story of the Nephilim/giants is perplexing. God punishes the angels that created Nephilim, which He failed to exterminated through the flood. But then God comes up with a plan to redeem the world by using the same sinful strategy of having offspring with a mortal woman (Mary) to deliver the world from His wrath. So God and the Nephilim both procreated with mortal women. Am I correct? Or am I missing something?
Surely, if God did 'everything in His power' to stop people going to Hell, and people still go to Hell, then God isn't all-powerful. Or am I missing something?
When I was around 11-13 I watched a ton of these demon videos (mostly from SCOAN in Africa) and I totally thought they were real. I always used the demon possession videos as evidence for the truth of the supernatural and the biblical narrative. Now that I’m deconverted and grown, I just facepalm at the fact that I used to buy this stuff and refused to consider that these are actors. Some of them are very dedicated tho. *graphic alert* The craziest one I seen was a deliverance service in Africa where the actor that was acting possessed brought in a chicken. When the preacher was throwing fire at him in Jesus name, the actor bit the head off the chicken and poured its blood over his head. It was crazy! And just made me believe even more. These people are deranged and will go to great lengths to deceive people into their faith
I'm still a Christian but do not believe in the Dogma of Hell and the Dogma of Inerrancy. I am quite active on Christian sites mainly debunking these two general categories. It digusts me that educated and PHD Christians are ignorant of Church history. The best Christian writers and apologists are in the late 18th century. They are honest and have a broad education in science, literature, history and languages. I listen to you because you are honest, intelligent and expose crap from fairytale Christianity. In this we have a lot in common. I haven't lost my faith because I have a good grounding from intelligent people. Cheers
I'm curious, generally how do you decide which verses are true or factual, and which ones are wrong or corrupted? Are there certain verses you see as most foundational or of the highest priority?
@@sparrowthesissy2186 Generally speaking I compare any verses meaning with how it matches up to the spirit of Christ and the way the new testament protrays Him. If He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, He is the same in the Old Testament and so I do not believe that He commanded the Isralites to wipe out man, woman, and child in Jericho. This episode was preceded by the phrase "Thus Sayeth the Lord". All the prophets said that before they made a pronouncement. However, most fundamental Christians believe in inerrancy which I believe is a false doctrine with the consequence of feeling guilty if they use their common sense or question a verse or story. They leave out the exercise of their reason which is eventual death to faith in the long run. I feel free to question anything in the old testament. In the new I question Revelations because it barely made it into the canon, has been rejected by the Eastern Orthodox Church, and was thought little of by Martin Luther. So there is good reason in history that I will not allow its content to affect my own doctrinal stance. And a lot of the doctrine of hell comes from this book. I stick with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and the epistles of Paul mainly. Even though none of these have come to us without error, the main issue of how to obtain eternal life I believe remains intact. So to take better aim to answer your question, any verse or story that is not Christo-Centric I feel free to question or reject outright. I hope I was clear enough to satisfy your curiosity.
@hopeful135 Yes, thank you for answering. I think I was in a similar place for a while. With an ideal form of Jesus or God in mind, there's some stuff that seems too contrary to that to accept. It's hard to know what exactly the historical Yeshua said, but questioning "Is this what a perfect person would do or say?" is useful in a philosophical way. That's a little different from the historical question, in my mind, but it can be related. For example (and it might be hard to explain briefly) if you compare Mark to Matthew, Matthew seems built on Mark, but a major difference is that in Mark, the Kingdom of God is a new Jewish monarchy (like the Old Testament talks about, especially with the Davidic messiah), and Jesus predicted that kingdom would come within a generation. By the time Matthew was made, though, I think that generation had come and gone, and no Jewish kingdom was reestablished. Matthew, therefore, changes this expectation to the "Kingdom of Heaven" or "of the sky," and then has Jesus give a bunch of excuses as to why the Jews messed up the coming kingdom, and therefore it must be the Romans who are the real chosen people. To Matthew, that's why Rome kept winning, kept occupying, and kept squashing Jewish (and Christian) attempts to rebel and establish another monarchy. To me, both a historical Yeshua and an idealized Jesus wouldn't have been happy to see Rome in control, or to see Rome cast out all the Jews of Jerusalem (circa 140s CE) as if they were "wicked tenants." Matthew's "weeping and gnashing of teeth" verses seem outrageously contrary to any Jesus I understand. Anyways, that's my idea at the moment. Thanks again for being open and discerning. Peace.
@@sparrowthesissy2186I appreciate your opinions. I will have to look into what you said further. For right now I understand Matthew to be the gospel to the Jews as there is the geneology to begin this book. Mark I have always understood to be the preachings of Peter. Luke was a mixture to both the Jews and the Gentiles and John of course was altogether different than the synoptics. I have been under the assumption that all 4 of these were in circulation in the churches before the end of the century which gave them the best shot at being included in the Canon. If I am able to gather more information that I feel you would consider worthy of your time I will get back to you with what I found. These are my first attempts on having conversations with Atheists which have been enjoyable and interesting. I'll finish up with this final thought, since I don't believe in Hell who gets to go to heaven? If you are truly interested I have some info I can share other wise I won't waste your time. Cheers

15:00 I feel it is worth mentioning that when they say “manuscripts” what they often mean is a tiny fragment of maybe one or two verses. A lot of people hear “manuscripts” and think it means entire copies of the various books and letters dating right back to when they were written, but that is not the case. The early documents are fragments, with the bulk of the more complete works coming from hundreds of years later.

It is a far right tactic. Same shit that nazis, fascists and the likes pulled (and still pull) to get attention. I cannot believe in a god that is less psychologically and mentally sane and stable than I am, a mere human. I could never send anyone to an eternal hell. I would do everything in my power to help them, not damn them. And if they are irredeemable (will not or cannot change) then I would just find a place for them to live without harming others. What does eternal torment do? If there is a system that includes damnation, then god created it, and that god has lost his mind.
You mean the eclipse comes right between the finishing up of your old testament and the starting up of the new testament? It's a SIGN, or a MIRACLE, or a sign of a miracle, or a miraculous sign lol. Have fun man. Wish I could see it from there. I'll see a bit of it from San Diego. Can't wait for new testament content on SBS, whichever order you decide to do it. Rock on Brandon! 🤘😎🤘
I wonder how many of the churches that were attacked have minority congregations. It's worth considering that many of those attacks may have been politically motivated, given recent history.
As a non-binary afab person, when I was christian I was terrified of waking up one morning that some supernatural power would make me pregnant, whether it was Jesus or otherwise. I already hated that I didn't feel like a woman and having that on top was just every day tourture,, yet these preachers would speak of that as if it happened all the time.
i'm nonbinary and afab too! i'm also aroace and every time my parents would talk about things regarding the queer community, they'd say it was an unclean, sexual spirit. that made me very fearful growing up and had me feeling like i was possessed. i'm 23 now and didn't come out to myself until i was 21. i hated the feelings of not "being a good enough woman," which i now know to be gender dysphoria, and purity culture had me feeling weird, which i now know is because i don't experience allo-ro attraction. healing from religious trauma as a queer person is a trip dawg💀
If an all-powerful god did "everything in his power" to keep people from going to hell, wouldn't that mean nobody would go there? The other option is that he's not so all-powerful after all... 🤔

Its amazing the lack of followup!
@@MindShift-Brandon in the minds of 99% of the church, they're healed because the healer said so. They weren't people that night, they were props.
It's a fundamentally narcissistic cult.
Having come out of an evangelical background, "We are so persecuted" has always been one of their mantras, and I think that comes from two things. One, many passages of the New Testament make the claim that Christians are supposed to be persecuted for being Christian. Two, claiming persecution is used as a scapegoat by many Christians when they get into some kind of social or legal trouble regardless of whether or not the trouble has anything to do with their being Christian.
agreed
Imagined "persecution" and an incessant "victim complex" seems to be a feature not a bug of the Christian religion.
I'd add a third one: Often the trouble they get into HAS actually something to do with their being Christian, because many Christians (I won't say all, I'm one myself) tend to become unsufferable when proclaiming their faith (I speak from personal experience 🙂)
If you disagree with a christian they call that persecution 🙄

Indeed. I almost get the impression sometimes that some of these folks know more from old B horror movies than from the bible.
I agree that most Christians don’t read their holy book… but to be fair, the book contradicts so much, it’s almost not their fault for having this view. If you attempt to hold one stance in the book, you’re violating another somewhere else in it. Yes, what you said is true, but this verse also exists:
”Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says “Let Jesus be cursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit.“

so I said well I felt needed to be said and pissed off a lot of people lol needless to say she blocked me but I feel horrible for what the kids must be going through with a demented parent you know they're gonna have psychological issues because of the parent and basket case preachers and naïve attendees that think people are possessed by demons
just think those children are growing up thinking they're full of demons because they're told that so they're probably gonna act bad because they think they're supposed to that's the epitome of child abuse and mental torture the parents shouldn't be near any children neither should pastors or other people who think their children are full of demons
Hope to see you this Wednesday night Heeling $ervice👡💰😃
So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.”
Then they brought him to Him.
"People act like this stuff doesn't exist!" Totally got me there!
The Mark Discroll clip sounds like a Geocentrist making fun of a Flat Earther lol😂
Would be amusing to hear a debate between a Young Earth Creationist and someone who believes the Earth is hollow or is a proponent of Ancient Aliens.
lol, thats perfect
I'm still waiting for the YEC that actually believes there's a solid dome over the earth like in Genesis 1:7. Even Ken Ham, who claims to read the Bible literally, never talks about that part.
This is great lmao
Great episode Brandon. My favorite part was when you went through the laundry list of things God could have done better to help keep us from hell.
Many thanks, my friend!
I think I threw line in all of these videos is that on some level it preys on the audiences' fear. Fear of being persecuted, fear of demons, and fear of possession.
All except the manuscript one.
@@MindShift-Brandon Fair, I forgot about that one.
And safe travels
Such kind feedback. Thank you!
So, why would this being that is supposedly so much more intelligent than me do something this stupid?"
Watching your videos helped me realize that my criticisms of the logic found in the Bible were valid and that I wasn't just a horrible, faithless being that couldn't see the glory of God. I officially realized I am an atheist on Nov. 4th of last year; the same day I found your channel. Thanks for all of your work! You are definitely helping people who feel confused.
Enjoy the eclipse!
I'm going to Ohio this weekend to watch it. Some days it would certainly be nice to have a God that I could pray to and ensure a cloudless afternoon.
lol, indeed. We are excited!
My mother who grew up in radically Islamic Iran, thought that Christianity was a much more reasonable and senseable religion than Islam based on how the US is so great and many people are Christians in the US. After I showed her clips like these faith healings, she realized it wasn't christanity that made the US progress this far. 😂
I just wish the christian right could realise the same thing... 😕
Its ALWAYS "we're prosecuted." I heard that the entire 50 years I was in the church😅

Wow I'm so impressed by thousands of manuscripts for fictional stories!
Right up there with how many times Harry Potter has been published. Must mean wizards are real!
Donna Douglas calls it all "Hollywood fan-fiction". Ya'll come back now...ya'hear?
Considering all the Star Wars off-shoots, that would mean Star Wars is even more true than the bible now? O:)
@@ertymexx funny, connecting to something real...like star wars was easier then connecting to the bible....
My mom was (maybe still is... idk she doesn't talk to me anymore) really big into demonology, casting out demons, etc. Even before I deconverted, I found it puzzling when she would say something like "Oh, the demons are at work today! Every single traffic light turned red just as I was approaching it. Every. Single. One."
So, demons are supposed to be evil beings that fight God, and they are supposedly far more clever than we are because they've been at work since the beginning, and the best they can do is mess with traffic lights to make you a couple minutes late getting home from the grocery store??

People send themselves to hell in the same way criminals send themselves to prisons. -They even give the keys politely to the warden!-
Edit: I've been told that they in fact, do not give the keys to the warden.

Well done.
That possession stuff is ridiculous. I have a very hard time not thinking that it's all scripted. Like I'm supposed to believe that a demon would even allow the to go up to the front or even go to the church in the first place.
You can’t make a hero movie without a really dangerous nemesis… Imagine Superman vs the kid with a water pistol…😅
The suspense is killing me for the new Secular Bible Study, but I suppose I took off work to watch the eclipse with my kids, so _I guess_ I'll allow it. Can't wait to see what order you've decided on!
normally this litany of fake victimhood from this religious group annoys me, but today it actually lifted my mood, maybe because the grouping of examples starkly shows how deluded and disturbed these people are, how victimhood is linked to identity, how this all adds up to nonsense created for people who live with a very small, isolated world view. Still serious consequences to those affected, absolutely, but helps me put my focus on what can be done to counter the negative impacts of this religion rather than wasting my time being annoyed and frustrated by the ignorance and narcissism. Thanks, Brandon.
Well put, Maggie!
It is insanity. You summed it up perfectly. Some cognitive dissonance to say the least. Also vulnerable people getting played.
Everybody wants a good time which is why we invite succubi and incubi into our lives.
"Imagine, a ghost who fucks you. No dinner and drinks or a movie, just sex with a demon. It sounds pretty good. They should advertise certain apartments that way: 'Two bedroom, spa bath, fireplace. Succubus included.' Where do I sign up? Hey, who wouldn’t want to have sex with a ghost? I mean at least once. Just to see what it’s like."

100% but from their outlook is what i meant. After-all Jesus “heals” the dead in Mark 7
Thank you for all the work you do to put together these amazing videos, they are so helpful! Hope you are feeling better soon!!

Or am I missing something?
lol nope, nailed it! strange indeed!
Awesome rebuttals and video, telling it like it is.

I can't help but wonder how many ancient or medieval cases of "demon possession" were actually autism or panic attacks, epilepsy, narcolepsy, etc.
For sure so many

Surely, if God did 'everything in His power' to stop people going to Hell, and people still go to Hell, then God isn't all-powerful. Or am I missing something?

When I was around 11-13 I watched a ton of these demon videos (mostly from SCOAN in Africa) and I totally thought they were real. I always used the demon possession videos as evidence for the truth of the supernatural and the biblical narrative. Now that I’m deconverted and grown, I just facepalm at the fact that I used to buy this stuff and refused to consider that these are actors. Some of them are very dedicated tho.
*graphic alert*
The craziest one I seen was a deliverance service in Africa where the actor that was acting possessed brought in a chicken. When the preacher was throwing fire at him in Jesus name, the actor bit the head off the chicken and poured its blood over his head. It was crazy! And just made me believe even more. These people are deranged and will go to great lengths to deceive people into their faith
Love this type of videos Brandon.

So glad to hear it, thank you!

Cheers
Thanks for the great video, Brandon. 👍
