You forgot "I siendo tu, tan mal me tratas, mi matadora." It's a romantic song from the renaiscance meaning, that cheating should not be a thing in a Spanish relationship.
+Jake Williams Von Starcher That actually turned out to be less problematic than I expected. The movement in the upper body is barely restricted at all and as long as I kept the low stance and sticked to big, single steps, the lower dress didn't bother me too much, either. But the dress did cause problems when it came to double side steps or multiple smaller steps.
Interesting, thank you for the response by the way. Dresses aren't your typical everyday HEMA wear but I do see the importance of fencing in historical clothing if we want to understand it better.
+Thunderchrist Ministries International I was actually inspired by a painting of Emilie of Saxony, but you are none the less very close (so close that I am genuinely impressed) - it is a drawing of Cranach and the dress itself is very similar to the dresses in the paintings of Judiths.
So this is exactly how a Fencing match would be conducted in late 1400s-early 1500s Germany (southern Germany to be specific)?? Amazing!! And what a fantastic demonstration. Just superb! You have such swordplay down to a sweet & fancy science. And the period clothing & costumes that you chose to wear really honored & beautifully highlighted the rough time period that such fancy & outstanding swordplay came out of & represented (1450-1550!). Great Job!! That was a real joy to watch! Keep up the excellent work👍👍👍
Best longsword video I have seen online. Clearly you are fencers who understand the flow, distance, timing, and also the "true place" as Gentleman George Silver would say. Greetings from a Meyer student at Salle St. George in Seattle, Washington USA.
I've got to say, while I'm more of a Fiore guy myself, I can really see the art behind, and the effectiveness of, the Meyer system. I really should get around to studying it. Maybe once I wrap up my Fiore studies.
Wow, this video is extremely helpful. I am currently studying this style in attempts to teach myself using guides and books as well as well done videos such as this. Currently I have only practiced movement, stances, and defensive blocks. I was just recently taking a closer look into how to correctly parry and attacks, but my comprehension fell short. This video illustrated many techniques I have read about and attempted to visualize. Some didn't quite make sense to me. However, after seeing this video, I have had certain maneuvers suddenly click and I have had answers to some of my questions about positioning answered. I plan to refer back to this video when I begin my offensive training. Great job!

+Arxen Zaonox Thank you very much! We will start to produce new Vids like this in Summer. Also many new technique Videos will follow. Stay tuned and thx again for your Kind words :)
I notice something I find interesting in this video, as opposed to others I've seen on historical fencing. The combatants don't seem to change the position of their hands on the hilt of the sword; if the left hand grips the pommel, it stays on the pommel. Other videos, likely inspired by different fetbutche, show maneuvres where the combatant changes their grip quite often. I find this interesting because for the man in armor, with a hand protected solid lames of steel, the unmoving position of the hands would probably easier. Very fascinating video!
I don´t think they got the form, they deserve, but they are very loose and could be quite comfortable, depending on the fabric. That´s something to think about in summer...
WTF. I'm Spanish and I almost didn't realise the song is in Spanish. It says something I would translate as "Say, moor bitch, say, killer(?), why you kill me. Being yours, you treat me so badly". I'm speechless.
In the future is there any chance for some videos with German renissance music in the background? Maybe something at least semi-local to Meyer's region. Anyhow, beautiful work and good job.

We will work on a second video like this in the future. I keep that in mind :)!
Best part 2 minutes in continuous fight without either side wins with retreat and stance changes and duel kept going before a decisive conclusion. Like a tennis match where both sides play for a long time is finer game
I need to see this in like super slow motion, I can't register the moves because im unfamiliar with the technique. Even if I saw the steps in slow motion, how do you know what moves to use and remember everything in the fast paced heat of battle? This stuff absolutely take skill!
in the german tradition we call it Fuhlen. Translates to Feeling. Basically it's sensitivity training, and your muscles develop a sense for varying pressure and you can just respond based on that.
Awesome, but read somewhere that in those times, in a sword to sword fight, you must avoid almost all blade to blade contact, because first you should aim for the flesh and vital points of your oponent, and second to prevent over damage to your weapon, which were very expensive back then 🤔

Hi Oskar! That must be an awful source. That is just nonsense :) Blades in Europe are made for bind and parry. Also your first intent is your self-protection.
@ Björn Rüther Hi. And yes, you're right, i didn't meant to say all the blade to blade contact, but the "Hollywood" clinking metal to metal contact, for the reasons i mention and they explained. Even if we know there are mayor differences beetween asían and euro sword combat, that source extended the explanation to samurais, and their swords, saying that those weapons, been sharped lethal and all, were not made to bind and parri, but to cut, and even thrust with the apropiated tech, but never in the way movies despict them, because the metal was more fragile than the europeans, thats why samurais trained to be fast and to end a fight quickly. So, the people who wrote all that, tried to apply the same principles, in some extend, to euro "duellists" on their explanation.
@@Hellion73 When it comes to japanese sword styles, part of the reason they focuses so heavily on cuts and not bind work was because the swords themselves, while beautiful, were of fairly low quality. If you hard block something with a katana it'd just warp or even break. Whereas a longsword is designed to take much more impact. katanas were a personal protection weapon designed to show status and defend a samurai in civilian settings/times of peace. Longswords were battlefield weapons that dealt with people in full plate armour and needed to be sturdy.
@@danielsmith5664Yeah, thank you for the rep, and answear to my doubts about the matter. Ohhh i been infatuated with all about sword fighting since my chilhood, wish i could be near peple like you to train, practice and have access to first hand knoledge, but i have to conform just with books and videos like yours to figure things up 👍
@@Hellion73 Try to find a friend who wants to practice with you. Sometimes just having people with a willingness to learn and a bit of time with manuscripts/books can go a long way. You could also try to find a LARP group near you (totally not the best way I know), but it might give you a safe place to try techniques.

Nicht sehr lange. Nur ein paar Jahre wöchentliches training hatten wir damals bisher gehabt. Wir wollen irgendwann mal ein remake dazu machen denn vieles gefällt uns heutzutage nicht mehr :)
One thing that has helped me, is just understanding that there is only a set number of movements that can be done in response to your action. If they do something that is not one of those set moves they die, or double with you.

The song choice is hilarious. They are literally saying "Why do you kill me? Why are you treating me so poorly?"
Why is this funny?
HA
@@thepunishersequence291 Cuz its a really "solemm" song about a guy saying literally "Hey, why are you so mean to me?"

I would be interested in hearing the female fencer's thoughts on fighting in a dress and what difficulties it presented.

I know plenty and when the dress is designed for it there is an advantage to be had in obfuscating the exact location of the legs and feet.
