Hey, Thanks for this guide. I am experiencing and issue that as soon as i start the truck after the new alternator has been installed the alternator is locking down completely and the belt is slipping on the pulley. Have you ever experienced anything like this? Could it be oil locking up the vacuum pump? Any thoughts. Thanks,
...and that's on a NEW alternator? The alternator come complete with vacuum pump installed already , and the belts have been tenssioned , I assume. I've never came across this in any vehicle I had. Any noises from the alternator, before it locks up and belts start slipping? If it was a used old used alternator I'd suspect the front bearing, on a new alternator, when tensioning the belts , if not done in the right spot/way , it's possible to brake the housing due to the many cooling slots , weakening the housing. That's the things I'd be looking at first, there is also the possibility that the particular alternator you were sold is faulty. Hope that helps.
@@vidtech2630 Yes it has happened on two new (remanufactured) alternators. Its almost like the vacuum pump is hydro locking or something. I am going to tear into the pump this afternoon and see if i can make any sense of what might be going on. On the second alternator we even let the oil line Prime before installing the belt. Strange.
@@MatthewCollins-n7d now that you say it's the second alternator, that is very strange indeed. If alternator turns feely by hand when not connected by belts , that is a bit of a conundrum. Please share your findings
One more thing I can think of, is perhaps double check the belts path in the multi groove crankshaft pulley , making sure they are running square and in the correct grooves on the crankshaft pulley. Best view is from under the vehicle.
Hey mate, got a 2004 NPR-77 with the 4jh1x in the UK 🇬🇧 and looking for the right replacement alternator unit. Can you advise, I’d be very appreciative of your input 👍🏻
Hi , I'm guessing genuine , is way over priced ! The only thing that I can suggest is finding one on line , somewhere at a price you are happy with , and get it posted to you. Another alternative is finding a working used alternator at the wreckers. That's all I can suggest. As I have said in the video , I couldn't find anyone who stocks spares for them , like the brushes or the internal regulator . Hope that helps.

@RyanSpinks-mz4tt Hi , the alternators I purchased could have been re-manufacured , to like new , or they could have been knock off , I'm not sure .Unfortunately, it would take hours to find the related paperwork now . I bought them from COMET BATTERY, in Melbourne, Australia, at very reasonable prices ! If you want to give them a call, ask for Ziggy , for first class service and advice.
I have a 2001 (4he1 4.8L) and a 2006 (4hk1 5.2L) Isuzu NPR. My 01 has a 2 year old Isuzu genuine alternator and the 06 has an aftermarket one. Do you know if a 2001 alternator will fit the 2006? I look at pictures and they are VERY similar but I’m not 100% sure. I want to put the Isuzu branded on the 2006. Thanks!

Hi , don't know if the two, would be interchangeable. Even in it looks like it might, they may have different electrical plugs/conectors.

It's a vacuum pump.
