The “audiobooks don’t count as books read” thing just really rubs me the wrong way. I’m a busy mom and don’t always have time to sit down and read a physical book, but I can listen to a book while I clean or do dishes or fold laundry or drive around running errands. Not to mention people who are visually impaired, dyslexic, etc. who have trouble reading a physical book. You’re gonna tell them their audiobooks don’t count? It’s just such an insensitive thing to say. We’re all just trying to enjoy storytelling in whatever form works for us.
It doesn’t count because you did NOT read it, you listened to it. However you can absolutely have an opinion about it. Its just the act of reading itself it not there.
Don't think you're effort doesn't go unnoticed Destiny. The skit you made at the beginning of the video and your intro were so creative. And we see how much work and effort you put into your content for us and I want you to know that we truly appreciate it! By the way it's so funny how you pulled up "The Whisper Man" as the hypothetical book you strongly disliked because it was actually one of the books that disappointed me this year. But I totally agree that people do tend to go overboard when they feel strong negative feelings about a book. I just give my rating and reasoning and keep it pushing.

I used to feel bad ab DNFing books because of the same reason, but my town has a bookstore that will take your books and give you “credits” to buy new ones!! So I actually end up saving a lot of money on new books!
I have dyslexia, and sometimes it’s hard to understand books when reading them, I’ve listed to almost 50 audio books this year and it feels just the same as reading!

They're still consuming the story, the vocabulary, the grammatical structures, the dialogue and they're still imagining a story the same way they would if they were the one's reading it. Audiobook vs reading a book is such a weird argument when everyone’s brain works differently. My best friend is an auditory learner & im a visual learner & if I tried listening to an audiobook there’s a 0% chance that I will be paying attention or remembering any part of the book but my best friend gets all the information because she can just listen and store it without getting distracted..But beyond that, I know people in my family who have dyslexia, why should they have to miss out on reading just because reading words on a page gets confusing and jumbled?

I’ve always been like that. I’ve always organized by color and I tried to organize my bookshelf by color, but then you just end up having more colors than other colors and it just doesn’t work so now I just separate it from genre right now.

You have to read the betrothed and betrayed duology by Kiera cass. It’s literally my favorite romance novel ever! The first book betrothed, is like friends to lovers and forbidden love and the second book is betrayed which is a real enemies to lovers It’s sooooooo good

My unpopular opinion is that i prefer longer books and longer series. The longer the series, the more likely itll have detailed, complex, plots with great foreshadowing and character development (when done right). The most satisfying feeling is getting to the end of a long series and reflecting back on where the characters started, and how theyve changed over time to where they are now. Same with the plot.
I completely agree that listening to an audiobook counts as reading it. Sometimes I don't have the attention span to go all the way through the physical book or get tired so that is when I switch to an audiobook so I am still reading. Like you said, regardless of the format you used to read the book you can still participate in conversations about the book and know the plot points. Thanks for another great video!
When you were talking about skimming books I thought you meant the whole book for a second! Of course you skim parts there’s no issue with that I have bad anxiety too and it helps to relieve some of that and I can go back and read it with less anxiety aha. And yeah if theres a part where I’m uncomfortable of course I’m going to skim! But when I was younger both my cousin and I were massive reader girlies (like little kids) and she would read so many books as well as go to school and the fifty billion different hobbies she and I both had when we were a little older and she’d lost her interest in books (she’s getting back into them now though!!) I asked her how she did it. She said she skimmed entire books and sometimes only read the dialogue. She said it took her five reads of Harry Potter to get the full story ! Like how?? 😂
i love annotating books and seeing my first thoughts bc i rarely reread them. some people actually analyze while i just write little thoughts and notes
no seriously! when borrowing someone else’s book, you got to keep it as pristine as possible!!! I was borrowing my friends book and my water spilled on it a little bit, so there was some water damage to her book. I literally bought her a new copy when I returned it, because you would never catch me dead, giving someone back a damaged book
