What The PROS Do in EVERY Architecture Photo - Retouching Techniques

  • I'll share some of my techniques and thoughts behind professional architecture retouching and editing in Photoshop. This is a vital step in making sure your imagery is of the highest quality possible. To ignore it is to continue churning out average images into a sea of mediocrity. But Real Estate photographers beware - you must represent the property with honesty.
    I mention the Lumenzia panel which is a cornerstone in my editing workflow. You can check it out here bit.ly/3dpGeub. It has many uses for editing and has a raft of features to help improve our architecture editing. My main use for it is with exposure blending but here I use it just to precisely lift the shadows from the tree and also show up any dust spots in the image. If you do decide to get it for exposure blending I'd recommend picking it up as a bundle along with Greg's excellent course bit.ly/3dpGeub
    Beyond this editing step, we want to add polish to our photos. I do this as a batch automation either through ColorEfex Pro (bit.ly/nik-collection-dxo) or bit.ly/Luminar-NEO. Both options work very well, but to run it in an automated way you need to "clean" your photos first as shown in this editing tutorial.

    Hi Anthony! Awesome video, all your videos are so well put together. You always explain things in ways that are really easy to understand and implement. I got a quick question for you, hopefully you can help me. Been a little hard to research on line. I'm getting a new pc laptop and I am finally going to get a stand alone monitor to hook up to the laptop as well. Tired of always using the laptop monitor. I use Lightroom, Photoshop and Luminar Neo for editing. I am a Real Estate Agent and do my own photos when I have homes for sale. I do not do photography for a living but love it. Question is: I want to get a 21:9 ratio (Ultrawide) monitor NOT 16:9. Minimum 2K resolution or more. Should I only get a flat ultrawide monitor or curved ultrawide. Trying to figure which is the best for photo editing. Will a curved monitor affect my editing of interior photos and exterior photos. I would prefer a curved monitor but won't get one if it is not good for photo editing. What do you think? Please let me know. Thanks for your time and help!

    I too find generative fill works best when broken down into bits. I didn’t know about the 1024 pixel limit - good to know. Thank you.

    Hi,
    Great information mainly.
    Is it possible to do all the editing in photoshop please?
    Also you say you bracket with 5 exposures … Do you set your camera to that? I have a D610 which only allows BKT 3 exposures .
    Also what and how do you determine as your base exposure ie a dim room with light windows where are you determining the base?
    Many thanks
    Russell

    08:22. Would you consider changing the ugly rims on the hatchback car parked on the right?

      @AnthonyTurnham 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah for sure. You could even get generative fill to create a new car. It's just deciding where to draw the line with the retouching and time invested. At some point you cross over into diminishing returns.

    Handheld?!?! Here I am with a tripod, mirror up, remote trigger and holding my breath like a sniper in between shots.

    You can remove the lamp pole with generative fill and mask black to bring back the drain pipe

    • @archiphoto
      @archiphoto  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that's an option, but the height of the lamp post was still way above the 1024px limit without upscaling so I'd still need to break it down into sections.

      Super simple. I had a small window of opportunity to access and cover the whole space. It's a multi facteded build so not every face was going to be at its best during the shoot. The architect selected this as one of his picks. He's paying per shot, so who am I to argue? Now it's my job to make it look as good as possible and that made it a good candidate for this vid.
