Wow this was an amazing challenge. It combined: * open vowels * sustained engagement over the phrase * intervals * fast pace * zone of mixed voice I feel incredibly warmed up and confident after!
Thank you! I need to get into a rhythm of making them this way (read: better). Sadly, I watch a few videos on how to make thumbnails about every four months. You can track it by the rare good thumbnails I do! ha! Thank you! Jeff
Jeff! I am a life long pro-musician (12 years pianist in the Boston Ritz formal dining room, -- hey I was so good, the dining room is now closed (lol,) arranger, guitarist, choral director) You are so non-judgmental and user friendly. My favorite I've found on the net. As sometimes happens, even tho I sing, I was too often relegated to accompanying singers who couldn't play. Singing is SO personal, and the better the ear, the more self-critical you are. Right now I'm practicing with your videos, simultaneously playing bass and singing and octave apart. Great for tuning up those octaves. I hope the pandemic has not laid too heavy a hand upon you -- your videos are excellent, wonderful, THANKYOU!
Indeed! Thank you so much for watching and thank you for your kind words! I'm always glad to hear that the videos are serving folks well! Love the playing and singing practice you've got going on! Superb! Thanks again! All the best! Jeff
Really like the bonus part at the end, would love to see some more of that in the future. Thank you for your help and practices/warmups. Been a big help
That bonus round lifts my spirit, thank you master Rolka

Since yesterday I've started to systematically sing one of two phrases with a sort of staccato "classical swing" rhythm on all your warm ups (dotted 8th - 16th instead of straight 8ths), it looks like it helps a lot feeling the diaphragm and thus using it correctly. 😀
Hey Jeff! It always makes me happy getting a notification about a new warm-up video from you. I gotta say, I love the variety and new patterns in this one! Keepin’ it fresh! Thanks again ✌🏻
@@robertcaldwell2107 My thing is, its not so much vowel memorization as it is the agility of the scales that i cant keep up with, I personally love learning about music and in cases like this where the scales are somewhat complex i think we could all benefit if Jeff talked and broke down the scales while saying what key he's playing. I think that would be also effective in memorizing pitch. That's just me though
@@JosephElite426 unless he mentions otherwise, it’s variations on a major scale. I’ve played guitar and piano for years so it makes sense to my ears but I can see how it would be strange to a non or novice musician.
Ah!!! This is my new favorite of your Baritone warmups. I absolutely love when we get to go on a surprise hike into the dark forests of minor keys at the end of a warmup. Thanks for everything you do! I discovered your warmups at the beginning of this pandemic, and who knew it would take me on a journey of self-discovery, where I began to work on my breath through singing and practicing methods to improve my breathing. Despite following stay-at-home orders, I still felt vulnerable, and I wanted my lungs to be strong in case I somehow caught the virus. I just started reading a great book called Breath by James Nestor that seems to affirm my inentionally valuable practices, and has taught me so much more. I highly recommend it if you haven't read it. :]
Just want to thank you for these warm-ups. I still can't have a formal singing lesson but these videos greatly improved my "default singing" and my voice quality.
Brilliant! Exactly why I make them. I really hope to help as many people as possible to be able to get the most out of their voices, whatever their circumstances. Enjoy! Thank you for watching! Jeff
Nothing is more contagious than the joy you get from playing low notes for us 😂😂 thanks for the killer warmup 🙏 PS. Congratulations for 100k subscribers! 🥳 🎉
Thank you! Yes, it's amazing to me! I love playing those notes knowing that for some, not only is it really helpful but they can sing there! Just amazing! Enjoy and thank you again! Jeff
I use all your videos, always thankful & recommending to other singers :)... somehow (as a feedback- or maybe a question) with the excercises here - in comparance to all the others - I get tunned easier, faster.... I don`t know why... but, yeah, I am happy :D... thanks again!
Awesome! Thanks for the referrals and kind words! Glad to hear that this video is working well for you! Keep me up to date on your observations regarding your voice, in this video as well as others! Thank you! Jeff
Thanks Jeff, for the exercices for very low voice at the end of your video. What a performance to sustain vocal chords at this level, thinking to place sound and breathing in the foot ! ! Philippe.
I had to come back and comment because this sequence was phenomenal!!! love the new patterns it feels like i can really put to test all ive learned thanks to you! that last exercise was a much needed curve ball
Thank you so much for making these free warm ups! My only suggestion would be that it was helpful in your other warm ups when you would sing along for the first couple. I find it difficult to remember which vowel sounds to make when they switch up a lot in one passage.
hello Jeff here in Buenos Aires, the same history, you know through your friends I continue with the classes at the conservatory, and no public place where to sing I should record some videos like yours, although they would never be that good, Hug joseph
I know you already put a lot of (appreciated) work into these videos. Have you thought of trying to add vowel sounds as text on video? I had the thought while trying to figure out the first exercises sounds, but it's something that occasionally stumps me, hearing which consonants you're using. Thanks regardless!
I'll give it some thought. I don't spend a ton of time in post, but that would certainly add to it and I'm wary of anything that would slow my production schedule. Thank you! Jeff
I can actually feel my face and vocal chords getting warmer, If I start to sweat though it's probably Covid. By the way do you sell warm ups as mp3's on iTunes, Amazon etc? I "hope" to get out and perform in 21 would be great to have on the go. I'm sure people would buy some if you don't.

If the tempo is a bit fast, maybe give these a try: th-cam.com/play/PL2mQP7sE6PHjuVYyVgdo7VMtwSQvvCHC-.html With the slower tempos you can get really comfortable with the patterns and then go back to the faster paced warm ups. Best, Jeff
Hello My name is Ramil My voice Lyric baritone I am watching you from Azerbaijan I have trouble breathing properly when playing my problem, my question is how can I fix this problem? How can I learn to breathe properly?
Appoggio breath management would be my suggested practice for you. Here's an explanation: th-cam.com/video/wBpta5StxHA/w-d-xo.html Here's a beginning practice: th-cam.com/video/5pKM0fMN3UM/w-d-xo.html
So with these warm ups do I use my loud voice like chest voice? Is this vocal training or just to loosen up the voice? Seriously I don't know which way I'm supposed to do these. . . Is it lightly like head voice or proper loud?
The goal would be to be as efficient as possible, which allows for dynamic changes as you sing through various registers of your voice. It isn't that the warm ups are 'loud' or 'soft' though if you were working on something specific you could practice that way. They are meant to be sung in a neutral, dynamic format. I hope that helps! Jeff
Hi Jeff, please to submit to you a new comment about your videos. Always sorry for my basic english, student englih ! ! So, after having watching a lot of your videos for singning warming and entertainement in my vocal range, I never sew that you insist on the buccal (space in the mouth) space or mouth opening. Indeed, with the courses that I have with my teacher we work hard to wine in low and high tones. Now I'm sure that reaching these tones is a combinaison of different criterias, in which there is the mouth opening. I'm sure that in opening low for low tones, and opening large for high tones, the exercice become easier and the good note is reached, and impossible in the contrary. By the way, please tell me if you agree this comment, maybe you already teach your visitors in one or more of your videos ? Which one ? Thanks for your response. Friendly. Philippe.
Hello Philippe! Thank you for your observation and thoughts! Your english is excellent, very easy to understand. You're absolutely right, I don't much mention the buccal space. There is a lot of new information about mouth and aural cavity space recently, particularly as it relates to vowels 'u' and 'o'. For those two in particular, it can be very advantageous to have only a moderate opening at the front of the mouth in order to allow for greater expansion in the rear of the aural cavity. All that being said, you're right, I don't address this frequently enough! I will see about working it in more. Thank you! Jeff
