    This warm up is meant to be pretty comprehensive in what it covers. Starts off easily enough with a five note scale. Proceeds on to one of my favorite tone balancing exercises and eventually covers the upper register in a number of exercises including tonal onsets that are over the secondo passaggio (the break.)
    Finishes up with a lovely melismatic minor chord cool down to settle your voice down for your songs!
    Enjoy!

    Hello Jeff, have recently discovered and devoured most of your baritone exercises and this one is the true challenge. Thanks for the high quality of your work. Had been using the same warm up exercises for years and now is the time to rise to new sounds. Merci encore from Paris, FR.

    Thanks for the videos, especially for the longer (> 20 minutes) ones. Getting ready for choir reentry and these are extremely helpful. Your exercises are straight from my private lessons many years ago!

    I find that doing this warm up in trills in my speaking range as a bass baritone has helped increase my range ironically to sing any male range

    You are my daily date at 11am for 30 minutes or so. I have recently bought some of your lessons from your website, so when I go outback to the central Australian deserts I can keep up my practice (with howling dingos and clicking kangaroos, just to fill in the romance of the scene for you). However, I noted a limited range of lessons for sale. I wonder if you could make a few more, specifically bass lessons, for sale, notable this one, which is fantastic.

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's amazing! I love the thought of you vocalizing in the outback. So cool! Thank yo for sharing that story!
      There are only a limited number because I only figured out how to incorporate them into the website after I'd already done a couple hundred videos. It's a long story...
      I thought I had put this one up there though...and I did, here it is:

    but all the other exercises are easier to follow so im not sure whats going on with me

      wwemj213, focus on the range of notes, not precisely landing on each note except the beginning and high notes. It won't sound pretty, but this is a warm-up. At some point, some in-person lessons would be helpful. Also, working scales VERY slowly will help. Working from slow to fast.

  • @joseignacio111

    What is the science behind lip trills?

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's a semi-occluded vocalization. In short, the lips take some of the weight of the air column off of the vocal folds allowing them to change shape more easily. The movement of the lips also helps us track airflow.
      Best!

    My entire vocal range is D#2 or E2 to G4 or G#4, also I can go up to E5 or F5 with falsseto, I have to say I have no vocal technique, what is my most probably vocal type?

    • @michalcupa3715
      @michalcupa3715 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello, how old are you? I am 17 and have nearly same range. (D2-D4, falsseto same) My teacher said im bass-baritone but I have potential to sing high as baritone... It matters, how colorful voice you have.. (power or voice, bright, deep, pure or "damaged" or basic tone (which are you talking normally - mine A2-Bb2)... So many possibilities. I sing in choir bass and I am feeling comfortable :) You must just feel it, which type of voice ,when are you singing, feel comfortable. But I think you are probably some kind of bass-baritone. I hope that, I have helped you. Good luck at singing.

      @@michalcupa3715 Hello, thanks for your answer, thats helpful, im 19 right now,

    • @chizo1205
      @chizo1205 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the morning i can reach D2 and some days C#2, i know It doesnt counts un vocal range, but maybe its an indicative of how low i can go if i work correctly in technique and espesially in relaxation

    • @michalcupa3715
      @michalcupa3715 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chizo1205 hmm nice :) Mine super comfortable notes are F2-G3 and easy to sing Eb2-C4...But male voice developes itself for 25-27 years, so there are a lack of expectable changes in it. (Super-Low notes can dissapear and high notes can appear :D ) But ye you are right... Good technique is basic but super hard think, which you must have. And it depends what do you want to sing...Like Opera, POP or musical... Principally enjoy singing, than deal with other things. :)
