Great video thank you very much!
I've been training kendo in latin América for more than 10 years and it is the first time I hear a different explanation about fumikomi, it's purpose and execution, also I have noticed that when we advance in kendo we tend to focus a lot on the upper body and give for granted that the lower body is moving automatically correctly and the surprise is that we may not be moving our feet in the right way, in my opinion we are loosing 50% of the effectiveness of our technic by neglecting foot work at later stages in kendo. You got a new subscriber here thanks

It's a puch ball with MEN. It's kind of small but quite useful. May the Force be with you.

While I enjoy many of your videos, I don’t agree with this one.
I don’t agree with “sprinting” the right foot. You should be focusing on using your right foot to thrust hips forward while swinging down. This is like tenouchi of the body.
Extending the knee is part of the movement but it should start from your glutes and launching your hips forward.

Dear Padawan, technically stamping right foot like sprint is for expression of Zanshin because striking sequence of SHINAI is normally finished before stamping. The way I explain in the video was to generate power for expression, since 'Expression' is important part in match. As you correctly mentioned, striking power itself cimes from a left leg but this power is difficult to be used in expression, because it is almost used 100% for striking.
      May Kendo be with you.
