Greetings from Brazil! the 2017 mega drive is not a mini, it's a full-sized vintage console and even runs cartridges. Also has an SD slot and will run ROMs as well.
In fact, as all Mega Drives are licensed by SEGA, TecToy is obliged to share the profits with SEGA, even on Mega Drive 4. At the launch of the 2017 Mega Drive that follows the style of the original Mega Drive, the president of SEGA of Japan was even present at a conference in Brazil, because of that, there are people who think that what motivated the launch of the Mega Drive Mini.
Things that only happen in Brazil: me and my brothers got a Japanese model 1 Mega Drive in 1992. They were being smuggled thru Paraguay and got here without taxes. So they were cheaper than buying an official Tec Toy one. And it still works perfectly to this day.
During the late 2000s and early 2010, the PS2 was increasingly more popular around here. The stories are much more convoluted and the pirate market never, to this day, subsided. Consoles with emulators that run thousands of games, from several consoles, are quite popular nowadays.

Mr Top Hat, the last information you gave is not accurate. TecToy did not release a Mega Drive mini in 2017. That is a re-release of the original Mega Drive, hence the lack of an HDMI port. The SD cart is not meant for playing roms. The hardware inside is the original, no FPGAs. Back then, TecToy announced their plans to release cartridges again, starting with 10 games. Well, a fix I would suggest is that the 2017 Mega Drive by Tectoy you mention at the end of the video is NOT actually a MINI. It is a full size console.
they both are just java mobile games, and runs very poor. I'm brazilian and i have this mega drive 4, actually it uses a motorola mobile processor, so all mega drive games are emulated hahaha and very BAD emulated
i'm brazilian, and it's a shit console, it uses a motorola mobile processor instead of the original chip Tectoy still selling those consoles, but no one cares about, look for zeebo, the first brazilian console, it was from tectoy and was a big shit
I knew tectoy had a long history of publishing SEGA hardware and games over there! I was blown away the megadrive got a port of NFS prostreet! looking it up elsewhere on youtube it didn't seem like a terrible conversion. but looking up what guitar idol looks like, interesting how good the sound quality is on it! definitely doesn't sound like a native genesis, especially in the case of the audio. but an interesting curiosity.

Brasil is like a poor version of the usa they are everywhere
@@belstar1128 Economically poorer but intelectually, just as challenged.
That's the Sega I used to have when I was a kid, I always called it Sega Genesis but I was unaware there were other Sega consoles.
Another good obscure console video - appreciated.
Its interesting to see how far the graphics can be pushed on a 16bit system from the late 80's. Like Guitar Idol looks like something we could have seen on the 32x or even maybe an early Saturn release.
Now I really want to play the Genesis version of Need For Speed: Prostreet...
Well, a fix I would suggest is that the 2017 Mega Drive by Tectoy you mention at the end of the video is NOT actually a MINI. It is a full size console.
I've seen a few videos on Tec Toy but never knew they ported mobile EA games to it.
Durring the SUPER MEGA DRIVE3 Part you're playing a Sonic Carnival track but I forget the name of the track..... Any Help
Please remind me the name of game at 07:50
How did you come across this cool info?
Wow, I have never been this early before! Awesome video as usual.
If you ever do get ahold of one of those newer TechToy consoles, I'd love to see your thoughts on the MD ports of SimCity and The Sims. :-)
Jason Blalock my thoughts exactly.
they both are just java mobile games, and runs very poor.
I'm brazilian and i have this mega drive 4, actually it uses a motorola mobile processor, so all mega drive games are emulated hahaha and very BAD emulated
I almost feel sorry for Brazil when we have those games and the newest games in the media playable on Xbox one or ps4 but they are stuck in 1988
tectoy release a couple years ago a megadrive classic with build in everdrive, you only need to put a sd card.
TecToy in the past did an excellent job of manufacturing, distributing and publicizing SEGA products officially in Brazil, nowadays it doesn't.
Thank you for showing something fresh. You’re right these people be trippin with these MD Mini videos. Like god damn we get it
the Chemical Plant zone theme distracted me a bit, soooo good i had to rewind the video!
Brazil was big on the Odyssey2 as well
boa man gostei do video ganhou um inscrito ^^ e um salve do Brasil kkkkk
Game Title at 0:41?
Nice vidéo! Canyou tell us more about the super méga drive controller ? 6 buttons but With the first model shape ?!
Guess what? It's emulated using the Motorola Processor thingy!
Interesting! How was/is the quality of the MD4 compared to other models?? That would be great information
i'm brazilian, and it's a shit console, it uses a motorola mobile processor instead of the original chip
Tectoy still selling those consoles, but no one cares about, look for zeebo, the first brazilian console, it was from tectoy and was a big shit
Mega Drive lives, in Brazil ♥
I knew tectoy had a long history of publishing SEGA hardware and games over there! I was blown away the megadrive got a port of NFS prostreet! looking it up elsewhere on youtube it didn't seem like a terrible conversion. but looking up what guitar idol looks like, interesting how good the sound quality is on it! definitely doesn't sound like a native genesis, especially in the case of the audio. but an interesting curiosity.
What about the history of the Atgames versions?
The Brazilian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionare?" is just called "The Million Show?"
That's fucking wonderful.
Yes, Show DO Milhão, he left the "do" out. I like the Bangla version more: Ke Hotey Chay Kotipoti... Yeeeeeaah
lol as a mexican i never expected to watch a "chavelo" scene in an english video.
08:31
What is chavelo? Is it that TV show with a kid that lives inside a barrel? If it is, herr in Brazil it is called "Chaves"
Hmm no.
Chavelo was a kids show, kids went to the show participated in some competitions and win prizes, it aired every sunday morning for like... 50 years or something like that.
There is a lot of memes about how old the guy (chavelo) is but it's not the same as "El chavo".
So thanks to Brazil the SMS and MD are world record holders for longest supported console platform in the world?
