I think by far the most adorable part of this entire story is how in the epilogue it's explained that Sylvain became completely devoted to Byleth as a husband, leaving behind his "womanizer" days to the degree that people thought she had cast a spell on him. He really was completely in love with her.

People say they don't like his S support, but it clearly mirrors his B support where he told Byleth that he doesn't want to change how he lives his life and then in S support and tells her that "With you by my side, I'm excited about this new way of life is all about." It's so subtle and I love it.

I don't want to sound like a smart-ass but, yeah... Byleth is supposed to be relatable because s/he's you. The player.
Their personality is pretty much a blank slate with whatever choices you make.

Initially, like everyone else, I also had little patience for Sylvain and his philandering. Even some of Byleth's comments to him were snarkier than others at first. But as time went on and after doing his paralogue, I really gained a soft spot for him. I'm playing the Black Eagles, and it touched my heart that if he joined the Black Eagles, he chose to follow Byleth and abandon/betray Dimitri (one of his childhood friends) and the kingdom of Faerghus because he has more faith in her than in his home country. I mean, joining the opposing side for the woman he loves takes a lot of guts. Underneath all the shameless flirting is a guy that actually does well in my classes and battle and is kind and caring, even to his brother Miklan.
