Im not condoning what the police did. They should have 1) called a parent, 2) handcuffed her in the front not behind her back, 3)consulted with the police involved in the stolen car incident to obtain a better description, 4) Approached this as if this child was their own and treated her as they would have wanted their child treated.... Too many officers forget they are public service members not just "law enforcement". We need to put the compassion back in policing.
Why did another CHILD have to help those dimwits do their job. Smh. This infuriates me. No stolen car in sight but they insist on cuffing her. The way the female officer spoke to them was disgusting😡 I want to say they need more training but they don't seem that bright so no amount of training could help. If they did everything " by the book" those children would NOT have had to point out the differences in their appearances. Seems if you are going soley off a picture you should atleast look at it thoroughly. Seems lime they went off black female and colors only, damned if it's a child, damned if they scare, humiliate& scar her for life. After all it's a stolen car🤨
*Black children are not considered children by law enforcement but as adults, that way they can treat them the same way they treat black adults as the usual suspects for every crime, this is the unwritten code of conduct that most police departments practice across this country*
The truth of the matter is that there are 11 and 12 year old boys and girls stealing Hyundais and KIAs everywhere since those TikTok videos came out showing kids how they can easily start those cars. For the mother to say that she doesn't understand why they would do that to any child just sounds like she doesn't understand what's happening in the real world today. Would she feel the same way if she was the one carjacked by that kid?
Then catch them! The truth is that these young’s kids just got out of school and were playing outside walking home. They didn’t steal any car. Then to just send her off without contacting a parent. What percentage of 11-14 years olds are stealing cars? This little girl will never trust cops again.
Maybe you didn’t listen to the news. They said a girl matching her description was seen as a PASSENGER in a stolen car. They handcuffed this little girl for STEALING a car!!! They handcuffed an 11 yr old with hands behind her back because they THINK she matches the description of a girl that was a passenger. Maybe you’re related to the female cop that thought this was amusing.
I am FURIOUS for her.
Specify the names of the officers and the department
It was definitely not a mistake this baby was handcuffed! The sorry azzzz cops should be fired, charged, and jailed.

They just let anyone on the force
Her family should file a lawsuit, they are not allowed to question a minor with a parent present, all black people look alike....How Racist Is That.😢

Comments raining down on the departments Facebook page...at a level that probably motivated the Sheriff to institute some changes...
