BYD, I started using Image for POA after seeing your videos and it works great, but also folks should be mindful that the RED label is for warm season grass ONLY. DO NOT use red label Image on Fescue/cool season grass, it will damage it. Image makes YELLOW label that kills POA on cool season grass, which does not damage the fescue/cool season grass and that works great. Just FYI.
Your old video did the trick for me! The pre-emergent, bagging the grass, and post emergent is a death blow to POA. I can testify to that. Also, the POA becomes less prevalent each year with your method.
Here is the Negate formula; 1/4 teaspoon per gallon. I bought several stainless steel 1/4th teaspoons off Amazon for about 5 bucks. Put a quarter teaspoon in a shaker bottle such as a 16 oz soda bottle half full with water. Shake it up for about a minute and it'll turn milk white. Pour that mixture into one gallon of water; double it if you need 2 gallons. I then put in a tank sprayer with a several oz of blue dye such as turf mark. Shake that up extremely well. Start spraying all of the POA then water it in in a few days. It does not work through foliar intake but through roots; that's why you have to water in it. Apply within a few days before a known rain will help also. The Negate bottle will tell you have to mix up the entire bottle at one time. This formula keeps you from having to do that. Hope this helps
I am about to start my spring scalp while my Bermuda is still dormant and the POA is running rampid, especially in the shaded areas. Headed to the Big box store to get the Image. Thanks
Thank you so much for the great video tutorial. And thank you to my sister. Barbara Wilkey Sisson for sharing it and identifying this very invasive poa. I am certainly going to follow up with these recommendations.
BYD great video, but you are not alone on this one, POA has been tearing me up this year as well, but watching your videos I got it under control. Thanks BYD
I tried Round Up and Image. Some POA was killed but it has spread all over my yard. I finally gave up on chemicals and decide to burn it out. My yard now looks like a war zone. I plan to aerate and re-seed with dilute urine for nitrogen. My neighbor had a fire and it burned up a lot of his yard. Later, it looks marvelous. Hoping for the same.
One site online said MSM Turf would kill Poa, but I haven't seen that anywhere else. Anyway, I sprayed MSMT last Sunday on my Poa, and if it works, I'll let you know. I know it worked well on the Bahia I had, but it took longer than other weed killers.
Atrazine will kill Poa and prevent it from germinating. If you have warm season grasses Scotts Bonus S does a good job of controlling Poa. You have to apply it twice a year spring and fall. If you have San Augustine, Zoysia, Centipede, it works great. Will damage Bermuda (yellows) but it will return no problem.
My pre emergent doesn’t seem to be effective against poa. I use Scott’s halt for crabgrass and grassy weed, but every year it’s here to stay. I try to pull it as soon as I see it emerge
How long after using image can you seed/overseed? And tips on how to gage how much you use? I mean i don't have 8k sq for yard. Thank you. I reseeded last fall, thought my tall fescue lasted good through winter, well it's infested with poa anuua, trevelis and some dallis grass. I'm thinking of resseding in spring again. But want to eliminate as much of those as possible before mid may when temps here will be good to seed. I spent 3 days pulling a lot up, Thanks

I have the sprayer, I have the Image, and I have the dye. But, what I don't have is the dormant bermuda ... the yard is starting to green up. Is Image still safe to use on non-dormant bermuda? Or should I wait until next February or so?

Question, my backyard has been destroyed with Poa, I used the image about 3 weeks ago, can I cut my grass in the backyard or do I need to wait before I cut and put down fertilizer
Hey BYD, I’m Newnan, GA so I have Bermuda grass. I have this big tree in the front yard. HOA won’t allow me to cut down. What type of grass would you recommend I plant in the areas where the grass won’t? Should I do seed or sod?
Either or but it will need to be a sun shade mix seed. zoysia sod can tolerate shad e a little better also. Also depends on how much shade and tree roots. What subdivision is this?
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral thanks it’s Belmont Park, roots are visible. I sent a pic on IG a while back. I also have an area on the side of the house where there is little sunlight and moss grows. I’ll probably go with the sod
You should get in writing that the HOA accepts all legal responsibility for the tree should it fall and cause injury or damage to a person or property. Otherwise I see it an uphill battle trying to force you to keep a tree that you want to cut down. The only exception would be that the tree is really old or something and marked for preservation as a result.

Hey BYD, I had some POA in my fescue so I sprayed Image on my whole lawn to kill other weeds. Then I saw don’t put on fescue. Did I screw up? Did I kill it? Thanks
It probably won’t hurt it much but it will sting it. Stay on you lawn care program and you should be good. A boost of Miracle Grow liquid nitrogen won’t hurt.
I'm going to go with the Image. POA is abundant, but only near property lines. Do I do multiple applications or does one treatment do the hopefully trick? Also may hire some teenagers to pull em! Thanks for the video.
I bought Sulfentrazone to get POA and nutsedge. Much cheaper than buying IMAGE, just buy spray bottle and surfactant and make your own. Pays for itself in less than one season.
I’ve got a question for you BYD. My neighbor has a nasty poa infestation and I’’ve got the same backpack sprayer as you that I’m willing to let him borrow and I was going to recommend the Image for his lawn. Looking at the label on the concentrate bottle it says to use .8 fluid ounces of concentrate per gallon of water and this only covers 200 square feet. At that rate it will take 6 full tanks to cover his yard (5000 square feet). In this video you put in the entire 32 oz bottle and filled the rest of the backpack sprayer with water and covered 8000 square feet which doesn’t quite match the label rate. Will this damage his Bermuda lawn or will it be fine as long as it’s thoroughly watered in after spraying?
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral You’re the expert so I’ll take your word for it and pass it on to my neighbor. He needs all the help he can get to Crush Thy Neighbor.
Being i I like blue grass I really like POA Annua and POA comprressa. I am changing my yard to perennial ryegrass from bermuda grass so the POA will go bye bye this year.
$20 for 8,000 sq feet isnt that bad when you think of it. I pay around $40 for 5000 sq feet of pre-emergent. Having a good lawn just requires a little extra cash each year
