    love your "was it worth it" bit at the end! So many content creators skip this part and sometimes the work and cost just isn't worth it even if it was fun todo.

      Hi KB, I ended up using a 3/4x5 1/2 x 8 ft Veranda pvc board I had in the garage. I made the cuts for the air duct, and height. I used foam weather stripping for any gaps. It worked out great. Your video was the inspiration I needed to tackle my own job. Thank You

      I did not use any of the plastic boards that came with the air conditioner on the patio door. I just used the pvc board cut down to size. But, I did use them for my window.

    Wood is a much better insulator than that crappy plastic they give you. I'm looking to do something similar to this for a sliding door, only i would like to have the wood extend the entire length of the door frame, so as to provide better insulation from the heat outside. I thought about maybe getting an extra plastic bracket, so it fills the entire frame, and then getting a single piece of wood...maybe quarter-inch thick, to attach alongside the plastic to create a better insulation seal. Thoughts? I'm an idea man more than an execution man.

    Can you tell me where you got the wood and what the dims are? I wandered all over Home Depot and could not find anything like that. The closest thing was a sheet of plywood veneer but I don’t need that much wood

    Any tips on getting it to stick to the stationary side but not the other side so you can still open and shut your door or window?

    • @kevinbrown1073
      @kevinbrown1073  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just used the weather striping with the adhesive side on the panel, and so the side touches the window doesn't have any sticky stuff on it. It just holds in place with the pressure of the window.

    Just use the sturdy box, doubled, and slide a wood-sized piece into the sliders you already have with the unit.
    Add extra tape (taped back into itself) for some extra edge blockage as your door will never be exactly square (so I found).
    Notice the sliders you have with the A/C have little holes to find the right fit, and use them with a nail to slide the extra cardboard-slider section into the main tube hole slider section. It helps while pulling out this extra cardboard piece when you want to remove it all and lock the sliding glass door.
    0$ - exacto knife, fat tape (duct, clear, whatever)

      @@kevinbrown1073 I made a video to explain setting up your own TV antenna (a really good purchased antenna, but which one to buy?, and how to configure it to find stations?, also not completely intuitive) but this is cutting a piece of cardboard and putting it in the space. Not rocket science. The science of OTA TV wavelengths however is.

    • @kevinbrown1073
      @kevinbrown1073  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, unless you've added someway to block off the door from fully opening. I used a piece of dowel rod in the door channel, but I also would remove the entire piece if I was away for too long so I could fully close the door.
