As I Roved Out (Lyrics)
As I roved out on a bright May morning
To view the meadows and flowers gay
Whom should I spy but my own true lover
As she sat under yon willow tree
I took off my hat and I did salute her
I did salute her most courageously
When she turned around well the tears fell from her
Sayin' "False young man, you have deluded me
A diamond ring I owned I gave you
A diamond ring to wear on your right hand
But the vows you made, love, you went and broke them
And married the lassie that had the land"
"If I'd married the lassie that had the land, my love
It's that I'll rue till the day I die
When misfortune falls sure no man can shun it
I was blindfolded I'll ne'er deny"
Now at nights when I go to my bed of slumber
The thoughts of my true love run in my mind
When I turned around to embrace my darling
Instead of gold sure it's brass I find
And I wish the Queen would call home her army
From the West Indies, Amerikay and Spain
And every man to his wedded woman
In hopes that you and I will meet again.

One of the best singer of this whole culture currently.
Totally agree
Absolutely
I’m an 81 year old Irishman living in Western Australia. Never heard her before, but she has a beautiful voice suited to the Traditional mode. Go h-Alain ar fad.
This is the first I ever heard of her.

Her and Larla O'Lionaird are the best.
You should hear her rendition of Eleanor Na Run....magnificent!..its also on you tube
To not love niamh would be an impossibility. A true hibernian siren, enchanting voice and beauty. Eíre abú!
Well said!
Never been to a Fleadh but would travel just to hear Niamh sing.
And I’m an 80 yo Aussie bloke in Victoria and I have long been an admirer of her beautiful recreation of the Auld Irish.
I was in tears listening to Niamh sing
Haven't heard anything from Niamh since lockdown but worth the wait. Always think of Andy singing that but that'll do.
I also "wish the queen would take back her army" 🇮🇪
Niahm i love you voice so much😍😍😍
Great version of a fine song
Beautiful song, beautiful girl
What a voice.
And she's a genuine beatuy.
But, who cares really - she's a singer - and probably doesn't give a fk of compliments on her persons - she want compliment on her job, and she deserves all - beautiful voice.
I love this song and have passed it onto my dear mother . So beautiful thank you !
I love her voice is she still performing? Album? Social media?
Beautiful!
Gorgeous Niamh
Thanks for a great video. I could listen to this all day.
American, descent of the Irish.. I know, we all think we are, and, most are, a bit. But Im from that old Scotts Irish blood........( Scotts not Irish? I have both lol) Musician, all of us in my family. I understand myself, when I hear this.. Thank you
Very nice song beautifully sung and played!
Niamh and Larla gotta do a duet
So beautifully sad and moving ☹️Love it
Fabulous

Hear hear!
Are there two different Niamh Farrells? I keep seeing a blonde short haired one on Google that’s part of some rock band…
Yes I have come to the conclusion there are probably two. 'The Long And Winding Road' is not a song written in a key that suits her voice.
@@robertmoray988 Thanks for clearing this point up.
Llais môr hyfryd, ardderchog!
