Thanks for sharing this video. I'm getting ready to drop the fuel tank from my '76 to pull my rear bumper strut. You're video has me better prepared and a little less tentative with the tank removal.
Everything in these vehicles is very valuable as crazy as it may look or smell so definitely worth setting aside time and effort for this one particular vehicle class.
Great - Video , Thanks !! , 10 yrs ago I started doing some work on my 83ZX which has an extremely clean tan interior w 50k miles but sadly has underbody rust and dropped the tank as well… then life happened and still sits waiting for me to get back to it .
Good video. I agree with some of the earlier comments, it would be interesting to see more videos of this car. I think that the 240/260/280Z series was one that most of your viewers have had some connection to one or more of the models of this car.
These cars are worth a fair amount to someone, even in terrible shape. I thought that most for them were available on the aftermarket. I’ve owned a couple of these back when they were common. So much fun! Even better de-federalized and lowered to a proper height! Also ditch the bumpers for 240z skinny bumpers. Speaking of bumpers. If they are original it makes that one a 77 or 78 model! Fix the tank!! You can do it!!
There are at least 2 videos on TH-cam showing rusty fuel tanks being strapped to cement mixers and having small amounts of gravel inside, to clean out inner rust. If they're a bit thin, electrolysis could be used to restore some metal inside. On the other hand, $400 might be worth it to avoid the work.
I will definitely be keeping an eye on this channel to see more progress on the 280Z. I'm curious how much the subframe has rusted out and plans for repair. If you're looking to race that thing, structural integrity is important.
I always decide to grab a snack before knowing there's gonna be a giant mouse nest in these types of videos and instantly regret the snack decision. Love seeing videos about this car tho!
Whenever I see any video of guys dealing with old cars and various mouse, rat, bat and opossum nests, I am screaming out wear rubber gloves and mask. Just my own personal issue but my god when I think of all the sickness these animals carry I shudder.
Would be interesting to see more video's on the 280z. Not sure that tank is worth saving but thanks for the video Steve. 👍
If you're interested in more 280z content I got you :)

@@seymoarsalvage Kept popping them, tired of waiting weeks for parts too. Daily driving my cars include keeping things practical.

Hi Steve - you are likely going to be asked about that hose removal tool. You may want to add an affiliate buy it link in the description.
Yes I would like to see more of the 280z👍
Body swapping one currently if you're interested in another 280z story!

Glad it helped
Of course we want to see more Z !

@@davidbeaumont4455 it is a '77 as the spare tire cover angles up towards the hatch. The spare tire cover was flat to the taillight panel in '78.
9 months between updates, you know how to string us along haha
I love the look of the car. You've improved it a lot.
cant wait for next part
Glad you're going to bring the 280z back to life Steve.

Sadly this video wasn't about the Lectra, but it was still interesting. Well done Steve.
Keep 'em coming Steve.
Thanks for this. Looking forward to hearing it run properly and seeing it drive.
Whenever I get an old car, I spray ever nut 'n bolt I can see with penetrant oil. Then go watch one of your videos!

I can almost smell this video 😅 great video!
Moyer Fuel Tank Renu . That's who I used for my 78 280z.
Thank you so much great video it was very helpful I have a 280 ZX 1983 I'm restoring in this video was very helpful
Yes DATSUN!!!
Thanks for a very good detailed video.
I really dig that paint color and sticker placement. I actually have a model car that I did the same thing with. Cheers!
That is one expensive gas tank! Hope yours is salvageable
I want to see more work done on the 280Z. Budget restoration, repair some of the rust and make it road worthy again.

Would love more updates on this ride, love the content!
Damn I'm wondering how you''ll be cleaning the inside of this tank
Hi Steve are you going to remove those horrible front bumpers? we didn't get to see those over here fortunately!
Hi Steve can you share the information how or who clean the fuel tank?
Hi Steve, thank you! What about the parts that have rusted away as Kevin showed us? Will you deal with it or will be happy for the weight reduction?
I would like to see more videos on the 280z. These cars have good resale value when restored. Good job so far. Any news on the clutch?
Years ago I had the choice of a rally prepped 240z or a shark nose 525i. I chose the Beemer and regretted it ever since…
More please!
Like your videos. keep them coming. like the jag's and th A H 3000 . AZ
Yesssss! Love the Z!
Lovely car!
More of this car 😄😄😄
Just saw a new tank for $115 on Amazon.
BTW that is a early 1977 not a 1976. Early 77 have the sloped rear deck like yours and that is unquestionably a 1977 fuel tank.
More videos of this
What are you planning for the Datsun 280Z ?(I didn't get it?)
I don't think that is a 76. It must be a 77 or 78. The 76 didn't have good vents
i cannot find part 1
That car is as old as me!
Seems to have lots of lightening holes...via rust. Ugh!
👍
😎👍
Happy Holidays Steve. On the other hand... Steve, your videos are way to short. I dislike the suspense... can't wait until next week.
my 76 is nothing like your 76 as far a gas tank.
It might have a manufacture date of 10?/76 but it is definitely an early '77 model.
Hi Steve, any of the original 1st year 240 Z’s out there?
Whenever I see any video of guys dealing with old cars and various mouse, rat, bat and opossum nests, I am screaming out wear rubber gloves and mask. Just my own personal issue but my god when I think of all the sickness these animals carry I shudder.
This seems like a 77 or 78 and not a 76
That…is just nasty under that spare.
If you are going to race it , it needs a fuel cell so quit dragging this waste of time "resurrect
the fuel Tank" for no practical reasoning !
Really good point.
Hi Steve.
Dig a big hole and bury it forever.
Not worth the time, nor the money.
Thanks for your channel though, and the majority of your vehicles .
Well u can dig a hole and place your self there 🙂 i dont get why you are jelly 😛
