I don't think the infighting is _completely_ pointless. If we keep gushing about FNV and shitting on FO4, even if there's a good deal of exaggeration, there's the tiniest chance that that clamor will be heard and we'll one day get another FNV-esque spinoff. Whereas if we just go, "Yeah, they're all great games, keep pumpin' em out," there's absolutely *no chance* we'll get another well-written Fallout, ever. We'll just keep getting updates to the "Oblivion with guns" formula, which is fun, but kind of identity-less. Fallout 4 may as well not have been a Fallout at all - it was that divorced from all the things that made Fallout memorable and put it on the map.
Another FNV type spin off? Fuck no, I want fallout another 1/2 and Bethesda not handling the series anymore, they continue to be ill willed about the franchise.

To this day I'm not sure how Bethesda hasn't made the perfect fallout game yet. Fallout 1 & 2 were the stepping stones to see how a post-apocalyptic mixed with an rpg game would work, turns out that idea would be great. They were also followed by decent stories and fair combat if you're into rpg combat systems. Fallout 2 specifically giving the series that dark comedy we all know and love. However I don't think we would ever see any games like those two again in the current franchise. Fallout 3 for what its worth, lead to how Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 would be written to an extent. Making it into an rpg first/third person game was also a good choice moving forward. I liked 3's art style (nice that you also mentioned it Tie) with its blend of retro and realism. It gives that defeated look to the once alive world. New Vegas also suffers from Fallout 3's combat system but is HEAVILY improved in the writing. I also liked the depth of the skill system it had, it felt more personalized. The desert aesthetic does have the downside of being a desert, but it has its moments of course. Now, Fallout 4 is where the new generation of fallout fans resides. Personally I dislike the art style, Fallout 4 feels a bit more cartoonish when compared to every entry before it. Although the combat is what it needed in which it had. There are some decisions in the games structure that are strange, like where you can just wear power armour at level 1. I know that the lone survivor has military background but I think power armour would be better if it was introduced later, and had to be earned rather than given. You did mention that in the video but I'm still confused who in the boardroom thought that was a good idea. But the combat is too good to pass up so I can let it slide. The writing also dips a little bit too like you said, its not horrible but is digestible. Even with all the games with their years of comparisons to one another and judgement by the players, there hasn't been anything coming close to how Bethesda depicts a story rich post-apocalyptic world. (Excluding the STALKER and Metro series) (I don't normally comment at all, so me wanting to reflect on the series into a comment from a video must make it a good video. Good job with this one Tie!)
For me the combat is the same in NV and 4 but that's because I use vats or a sniper rifle. I started with fallout so killing everyone in vats seems normal to me.

1 - it's so much better listening to what you are saying than being a mute and having to read subtitles. 2 - it's so much easier to press a button than have to read your own subtitles. Why don't the little babies cry when the NPC's have the audacity to actually have a voice?
Because the voice acting isn't that great for the MC and it's a RPG where your supposed to role play whatever you want like the other titles.. giving them a voice and personality massively takes away from that. No one complained about having to or not having to read text?? 💪🏻👔

Again you are looking from a very biased viewpoint, it mention the look not working on comparison to the other titles where things are not rounded and more dirty looking. This is supposed to be the same world as them games but looks like an entirely different universe.. it's not a bad look I love it in games like bioshock but here it looks worse to me to the other titles 💪🏻👔
Siding with the Railroad and actually liking them has to be a sin. You sir are now public enemy #1 of the Fallout community. Even the NV fans hate the Railroad. In all seriousness great video just never side with the Railroad ever again...
Here's the thing, I think Fallout NV is much more crunchy. That being said.... Holy shit it is so unstable. I spent an hour JUST downloading and installing mods just so I can run it on ultra with Project Nevada. Just that. No massive textures or new weapons or spawning anything crazy. Just a gameplay touchup that includes a couple weapons, maybe. Fallout 4 is, by extent, a great game that's just absolutely ass story and questing. It definitely has that clunk ironed out and *feels* better to play.
You get the second worst Power Armor in bad condition and an almost depleted Fusion Core - how is this comparable to the Power Armor you get in previous games??? Also nobody forces you to go to Sanctuary or Concord. In fact ypu can complete the game without ever going there...
You are missing the point... The reason I don't like it is because these are things that used to take work and were rewarding to find or fight.. that's taken away in fallout 4 and just pretending it doesn't exist and walk past them like a blind man doesn't make it better 💪🏻👔
@@Guyinthetie no I'm not. First you really have to kill a dozen raiders and get the Fusion Core. Second the Power Armor you get is terrible. On Survival Mode multiple armor parts will break from the Raider attacks and tge Deathclaw will second hit you. The fusion core will run out as well as the Minigun ammo. Comparing the Power Armor from Fallout 1with this is simply wrong. If ypu want a fair comparison look no further then the Qzantum Power Armor in Nuka World. You need to compkete multiple big quests to get it and it is truely powerfull unlike the old rusty T45a. Even regular non powered armor can give you more protection than this. The T45a that you get in Fallout 4 is comparable to the leather armor in Fallout 1. And in New Vegas you can get Chance's Knife a minute after exiting Goodsprings anf it is one of the best weapons in the entire game and the only thing you need to get it is a literal shovel which is nothing in comparison to all the raiders you need to kill in Concord. And the elephant in the room - if you wpuld have really played previous Fallout titles you would know how ridiculously easy it is to get the second best armor in the game in Fallout 2. The Enclave will just hand it to you a couple of minutes into the game. And yes this Enclave power armor is WAY better than a T45a. In order to obtain a similar Enclave armor in Fallout 4 you would need to be at least level 40 and defeat a Sentry Bot or complete almost the entirety of the Nuka World DLC...
@funki4896 a few dozen raiders for power Armor is pathetic compared to the amount of time it would take to get power armor in any other fallout. Fallout 1 and 2 you need to do speed running strats if you want it early, otherwise it's a late game armor. Fallout 3 you need access to the citadel so another late game. (Or a whole damn ass dlc) Fallout New Vegas you need to get to the BOS which for a new player is expected to do like 4-5 quests before the end of the game. Fallout 4 giving you a set in the 2nd quest is wildly too soon.
@@jaytee12621 and my point still stands that the rusty T45a with an almost depleted fusion core is not an endgame item. Even conventional armor gives more protection on higher levels. There is T51, Overboss, T60 AND X01 power armor which is much better. You can complain that there is too much Power Armor but comparing it to Fallout 1 is wild. Fallout 1 has a dozen locations. Fallout 4 has three digit number of locations. In Fallout 4 there is literally more of everything - loot, NPCs, items, decorations, quests etc.
New Vegas doesn't count, they gave Fallout 3 to a small bunch of RPG obsessed nerds and said "You've got a year to rehash this into a spin-off so we can milk our new IP some more while we work on a proper Fallout game 😂......and cue the angry comments
@@Guyinthetie haha bit of a lucky guess, when you said there was a particular edit that hinted to it I started scrubbing through the video and stopped on the bit with the Doom song
That's absolutely fair you can enjoy each title don't get the reasoning behind hating the other titles because they are not your favourite mentality people have 💪🏻👀
Gameplay, great Graphics, good Story... bad Atmosphere... PG-13 Fallout RPG skill checks.... there's like one on that rocket boat Fallout 4 vanilla will always be "Just Ok" to me I remember waiting for the story to hit me the way 3 and New Vegas both did. but that never happened.
"RPG skill checks" there are no skill checks. There are only SPECIAL stats and perks. And these checks are everywhere. You want to buy an item? You need to improve Charisma/bartering prizes. You wanna mod a weapon? You need several perks. You wanna pass a speech check? You gonna need Charisma and speech boosts. Etc. Just because there are fewer of these boring boxes where you have to effortlessly click on an option doesn't mean that it's not an RPG. And just because Sneaking is a stat/perk now instead of a skill doesn't mean that it's not an RPG. You guys have a very baive understanding of what an RPG is. An RPG is not when you talk to the Think Tank for half an hour and click on a boring box. Not to mention that these checks are extremely flawed in all Fallout games - there is no 10 Intelligence check at all in FNV. Charisma is completely useless in every game - what kind of "roleplaying" is it if you ALWAYS pick only 1 or 2 Charisma and raise your speech to 100??? How does that even work??? That's not roleplaying that's just masquerading as roleplying...
Compared to 3 and NV? Nah. Those games are as deep as the ocean and 4 is shallow like a puddle, but still as vast as an ocean. It isFallout for dummies. The gunplay, building, and power armor are better in 4, it loses out in every other quality. Still fun to play. I've struggled to get into it like I did 3 and NV.
you missed the part where he said he doesnt care for the dialogue sequences and just wants to play a looter shooter😂 some people just play games to play a game
Fallout 3 is deep like the ocean??? Are you fucking kidding??? There is only one true ending in the game and most quests are simplistic good vs. unreasonably comically evil decisions. Is FNV deep "as the ocean"??? No it isn't. Every faction is evil in it's own way and the Legion is painfully obviously the wrong choice. "Slavery=bad" is not deep at all. "Dictatorship=bad" is not deep at all either. FNV has an extremely shallow narrative. The NPCs are either unreasonably comically evil (Lanius), stupid (Fantastic), angelic (Sunny Smiles). Boone is a literal war criminal. Fallout 4 at least tries to play with ambiguity. Are synths too dangerous? Is Atom (the deity) real? Are the Hubologists up to something? Some quests are very ambiguos when the player has limited information - like if you do the Covenant quest before meeting a friendly synth and directly after the synth Art random encounter or after fighting your way through Arcjet. There is no satisfying ending in FNV. And the Courier has no agency. You only can act on behalf of someone. Just like in Fallout 4. No matter if it's Preston, Gage, Desdemona, Shaun, Arthur Maxson, Yes Man, Papa Khan, McNamara, House, Caesar etc. Stop acting as if FNV and 4 are different no they aren't. In fact Fallout 4 is almost a carbon copy of FNV. The quest structure, main story, factions etc.
@funki4896 New Vegas allows you to act alone. You decide which factions survive and which don't and can take over NV yourself. It gives you actual choice. 4 just said "let's copy New Vegas" and still managed to shit the bed lol. 3 is cartoonishly good or cartoonishly bad and I don't like that. But New Vegas has plenty of gray areas and isn't nearly as black and/or white as 3 and 4.
@Matt-id5mi I didn't miss that part. I enjoy his videos. I listened. 😂 I'm just giving my opinion. If you don't care for choice, RPG, dialog and lore? 4 is without a doubt the best if that's what matters most and of course the gameplay and looter shooter side of it. I'm not saying 4 is a bad game. It's an amazing game actually, I just don't think it's as great of a Fallout game.
fallout 4 is the only fallout that you can put hundreds of hours into and not do a single mission. fallout 3 and new vegas are about the story and fetch quests. fallout 4 is about living in a wasteland.
"Living in the Wasteland" is the true Fallout 4 experience! Its just such a shame the intended focus is finding your son who turns out to be a total catfish....
That makes no sense ... if you ain't doing a mission of any type you ain't doing anything in ANY game.. the only thing fallout 4 has other than missions is building stuff and it's the most Bs addition to a game .. instead of having that I rather have a good story
@@blueoval9548 who said anything about it not existing , you said fallout 4 is living in the wasteland when really it's the same thing as fallout 3 and NV but with a much weaker story , none of the rol playing aspects the other games had and the only thing that adds to your argument of living in the wasteland is the building mechanism and it's a boring thing that brings nothing to the game and would be the same if it wasn't there. Your original comment makes 0 sense.
@@JstKingx you said because you don't wanna play like that that nobody plays like that. I don't care how you like or what you like. The fact is that you can put hundreds of hours into fallout 4 without doing any missions.
It's a great game, but a piss poor Fallout. Also, it's a great survival game (by the modern definition of the genre, which are just building games with light survival mechanics), but a terrible RPG.
Thank you for simply stating your opinion and not being a prick about it 😂 too many of those. I like fallout 4, especially survival - but my favorite will likely always be Fallout 2.

@@Guyinthetie that is my whole point tho, it's so nerds can pretend it's them as the hero, what if I want Mr. House to speak like Mr. Burns and it breaks my immersion 🤷
@@laernulienlaernulienlaernu8953bro thats just you
You do you. I dont feel your opinion. I would have loved it without a voiced MC.
@@dominikwusa3570 but why have every NPC actually speak to you and you reply in sign language? Isn't that immersion breaking? It's a game for Christ's sake, having to read out everything you say as your character stays mute is so 2006
"Why are the edges rounded?" RETROFUTURUSM
And what "oversaturated" colors and "clean look" are you even talking about??? Everything is rusty, dirty, dead plants everywhere and what about the dirty bodies of water, the Glowing Sea, Far Harbor, the desert of Nuka World etc???
Again you are looking from a very biased viewpoint, it mention the look not working on comparison to the other titles where things are not rounded and more dirty looking.
This is supposed to be the same world as them games but looks like an entirely different universe.. it's not a bad look I love it in games like bioshock but here it looks worse to me to the other titles 💪🏻👔
Siding with the Railroad and actually liking them has to be a sin. You sir are now public enemy #1 of the Fallout community. Even the NV fans hate the Railroad. In all seriousness great video just never side with the Railroad ever again...
I'm a simple man.. deacon made me laugh right out the gate with the railroad that's all I needed apparently 💪🏻👔
It's a good step for the series in terms of replayablity, exploring and stable engine they just need to iron out the writing 💪🏻👔
You would pick The Railroad lol
Honestly it was like I said, deacon made me laugh so that was that 💪🏻👔
You get the second worst Power Armor in bad condition and an almost depleted Fusion Core - how is this comparable to the Power Armor you get in previous games???
(Or a whole damn ass dlc)
Fallout New Vegas you need to get to the BOS which for a new player is expected to do like 4-5 quests before the end of the game.
*Where
New Vegas doesn't count, they gave Fallout 3 to a small bunch of RPG obsessed nerds and said "You've got a year to rehash this into a spin-off so we can milk our new IP some more while we work on a proper Fallout game 😂......and cue the angry comments

My prediction for the next video is DOOM!

@@Guyinthetie haha bit of a lucky guess, when you said there was a particular edit that hinted to it I started scrubbing through the video and stopped on the bit with the Doom song
Fallout 4 was never "that good" the story is stupid and the mods are the only reason people play it.
And the pretty fun vanilla gameplay loop
I played it and I had fun :) (I had more fun with new vegas tho)
That's absolutely fair you can enjoy each title don't get the reasoning behind hating the other titles because they are not your favourite mentality people have 💪🏻👀
That good? Most people say it's the worst fallout. It's better than general opinion, not worse :P
Was tempted to name it a "was it that bad" video but wanted it flush with the other fallouts in the channel 💪🏻👔
@Guyinthetie fair enough lol I'm a massive fo4 fan and sick of the shit it gets 😂
Cait or Harley Quinn??? 😳😳😳
Why not both 👀
Yes
Gameplay, great
Graphics, good
Story... bad
Atmosphere... PG-13 Fallout
RPG skill checks.... there's like one on that rocket boat
Fallout 4 vanilla will always be "Just Ok" to me I remember waiting for the story to hit me the way 3 and New Vegas both did. but that never happened.
its less fallout and more borderlands which is why it is extremely fun and people do like it but doesnt feel like the other games nearly as much
@@lukegibb1967 I ... couldn't agree with that more.
Damn, well said man
"PG 13 Fallout" yeah and that comes from an FNV fanboy who wants teenager edgy things like Gomorrha 🤡
@@funki4896 You're mad enough over my opinion of Fallout 4 that you wrote me two paragraphs. I'd rather be the edgy teenager than whatever you are.
@funki4896 there are massive differences between 4 and New Vegas but the "look you have a couple choices between factions at the end" is the same.
@@JstKingx so because you would rather have it the way you would rather have it, it doesn't exist?
