In the book Nagash: The Undying King by Josh Reynolds, there's a city in Shyish that's has skeleton guards to defend the city. However, each skeleton has the original soul bond to the skeleton. This way, people can still defend their homes after death and pass on wisdom. The book doesn't go deeply into this, which is a real shame, but it shows that Grand Alliance Death can have interesting cities and cultures.
The ending of that book is my favourite to show people just how much of an asshole nagash is, I don't think I've been as genuinely angry at any other ending that I thought was good, it makes perfect sense just good god I hate him
I think claiming that warhammer saved vampires is a stretch, but the vampires in it are indeed pretty cool. Vlad and manfred are well written archetypes that are characters first, vampires second.
One other lore positive is that vampires especially are kind of difficult to keep dead. This taps more into old Warhammer Fantasy lore, but there's no shortage of vampire characters who managed to die in battle, only to come back through some magical bullshit or another. The whole purpose of the Black Coach, for example, was to carry the remains of a fallen vampire from battlefield to battlefield. Not only acting as a locus for amethyst magic, but allowing the coach to absorb death energy until the vampire returns to unlife. So if you are bothered by how your fancy OC vampire character can survive battles where they died, Soulblight Gravelords gives you a blank check to say, "yeah, they died, but it didn't stick". (You could arguably use this same argument even on Necromancers; they're all about death magic, so they can be brought back with whatever arcane ritual you devise).
The majority of the world's coal was created during the Carboniferous period (359 to 299 million years ago). During the Carboniferous period, earth had a higher atmospheric density and in particular a far higher amount of Co2. As such the world was warmer and most of it's landmass was covered in massive forests of early trees, which were inhabited by large arthropods and salamander like amphibious tetrapods. What it lacked was organisms which could effectively digest wood (a difficult process) and as such, if one of the scale trees in the carboniferous period died and fell down if it did not burn it would likely get buried and compressed into coal. Coal still forms, but at a less pronounced rate. Peat (decayed plant matter found in the bottom of bogs) is technically ultra brown coal.
I exclaimed out loud in delight upon seeing this. My dog looked up like “wtf?” I started SBG a few months ago so while the “do or don’t” aspect is kind of too late, it’s still fun.
Hellsing Ultimate and Hellsing Abridged definitely helped vampires feal terrifying powerful and interesting again. When it takes baby eating nazi vampires and the worst kind of Catholics to successfully make villians more evil than your protagonist. You have made a fascinating vampire protagonist.
@feral_orc they came out after. The first Twilight book came out in 2005 but the first Hellsing Ultimate episode dropped in 2006. Yes the Hellsing manga and the OG Hellsing anime predates Twilight. But Ultimate is the one that took off
white wolf would've invented vampiric bloodlines independently even if they weren't aware of the von-carsteins and such white wolf has always been centered around the idea of making up factions for supernatural creatures, and doing so based off of real-life folklore from different parts of the world. it's just their thing
One lore thing I liked (that was at least true in Fantasy) regarding the “every dead enemy is a new zombie” thing is that it doesn’t work with Orcs/Orruks. While a necromancer can raise them like any other corpse, the resulting zombie will not obey its new master and continue acting like an Orc as if nothing changed.
Kemmler in Total War Warhammer mentions something like that. He claims he’s one of the few necromancers that can do it when he speaks with an orc faction he’s on good terms in.
10:37 It was the only reason I started to level up Sienna and I think it's a very fun career, you get the skeletons and you can build her either as a very powerful wizard that can use her skeletons as batteries for your magic or as a grim reaper literally mowing down enemies with the scythe or any other weapon you want.
“You can have vampires who genuinely care for their living compatriots” You mean like Ushoran used to when he had an empire? We all saw how that turned out.
If anything I take that as one of those nice baked in lore objectives. You can be an Ushoran loyalist who didn't go bonkers and wants to return the greatest of vampires to his former glory so as to instigate a benevolent reign across Shyish once more. There's a good chance that even if you succeed it wouldn't work out that way, but it's something to aspire to.
@@Sara3346 Well in OG Fantasy he fell under the sway of the Crown of Nagash, aka WHF's One Ring. He thought he could control it, but spoiler warning he could not. Then as the cherry on top, Neferata led a massive orc Waghhh to his empire, and it fell.

6:30 Oh my god I thought I was the only one left. On Xbox I literally bought the founder's edition to Fortnite: Save the World which was very pricey because it came with two free copies. I only bought it because two of my friends recently became fathers so I bought it to throw both of them a bone. We absolutely loved the game and would frequent the founder's world chat and talk to the devs. Everything seemed to be going so well. One day the devs asked if we the player base wanted to add some sort of multiplayer pvp to the game. As a collective we said yes but only if it was a team battle with construction that had objectives that you had to protect and a home base that could be captured for a game over situation. The devs pondered for a bit to see what they could do. At the moment PUBG was exploding in popularity so they decided to do that instead. The rest is history. The player base for Save the World started dying because even though the Battle Royale was free people bought the STW edition thinking they were getting more of a bonus and team play during missions turned into squads of Main Character Syndrome people creating lose scenarios out of pure pandemonium. One of the rare instances where a game was actually great but shelved because doing something easier and cheaper is the corporate thing to do.
Grand Alliance of Death has some of the best theming. It all goes together so well and each one has their own thing going on. Vampires are always going to be cool.

my advice would be to figure out which dynasty you'd like to play as and collect the models for that dynasty's playstyle. Unfortunately, my adhd ass couldn't do that and now i am building an army capable of being played as both Legion of Blood, Night and Vyrkos
The thing that saved me from thinking vampiers are lame was Hellsing, because Alucard is so charming and iconic that literally undid all the damage Twilight ever did in those years, basically hard carrying the whole vampier idea on his back.
Necro Sienna is by far my favourite Sienna career, couldn't recommend it enough! Infinite cleave and explosions on crits just never gets old, especially on higher difficulties with higher horde density.

I'm about 10 years older than you, Idk if you've heard of it but the 1 saving grace vamps had was the underworld series in the 2000s. A weak vampire or wolf from that series would pick up overgrown chihuahua (jacob) and shovel face (edward) and snap them into a pretzel....and then eat them. Check it out its a badass series! It's the best vamp/wolf series since the first 2 blades. (Blade 3 should be called Bruno, cuz we don't talk about it😅)
So, for the Vampire the Masquerade side of things, each Clan and Bloodline was based on a different vampiric intepretation/mythology, so it could just be a weird coincidence, but I also wouldn't put it past White Wolf to sneakily take some stuff from Warhammer and hope no one notices.
Well I never been interested in Vampires at all in my life until Total War Warhammer 2. Despite my main factions are all 3 branches of Elves, Empire, Chaos and Norsca I started to like vamps. And I was playing with Mannfred out of all vampires without knowing that he is an lores asshole and switched to Vlad after knowing about lore.
I would say Siennas necromancer class is worth getting. You can change out how her minions work (attack or defense focus) and it's fun to use them against the hordes sent against you.

I once charged 10 chaos chosen against zombies. My poor chosen of khorne kinda ended them selfs... the vampire on a zombie dragon on the other hand was basicly part of the scenery.
Nagash and the vampire hierarchy over the mortals can be best described as something akin to the clusterfuck of assassins sent after Padme in episode 2.
Wait a second....I literally just caught on that you were using zombie song lyrics as lines in the script and BOOM you drop the Dier riese trailer. touché my man very touché

Im a simple man, I click on Funny Video Man, the get surprised at the Sponsor of the video. At this point i really shouldn't, cause they're always on brand somehow
AoS is growing on me, but one of my lingering pet peeves is GW's penchant for replacing real words and phrases with trademark friendly nonsense substitutes. "Soulblight Gravelord" just has no inherent meaning to me like vampire does.
Agreed. I was never into Warhammer fantasy until well after AoS had already killed it. I only got into WF after playing the total war games, came to adore the vampires, then started looking into their actual lore in WF. Then when I came to try and find out what they had turned into in AoS it took me a while to figure out who they even were, at first I thought the faction had just been deleted and it's various parts turned into the factions of the death alliance.
I am intereted in lore only atm. Reading the books. However, if i should ever get into the hobby, tanks would probably be it. I love astra militarum tanks
Siennas necro career has the same level of new toys as the other new careers but in my opinion a lot of the customisation boils down to more skeletons, it’s a fun career if you want to be spooky but it’s not grail knight on release levels of powerful
12:30 woah… nagash needs me? What am I gonna do? Nagash chose me to lead the soulblight gravelords. Ok. Im going to bat for you nagash! I got your back nagash!
10:30 yes necromancer career is really fun. they honestly managed to balance it pretty well while still making her viable for legend and even cata if you know how to play right. also it just looks fucking awesome. its honestly nice to having something new and unique that has actual downsides and doesn't feel like a pay 2 win career like grail knight can feel like. its not like, SUPER lore accurate but i mean, its end times lore so her being a necromancer is easily the least of lore sins.
I hated vampires because they were such a cool concept that got wasted by Hollywood.... kind of like Hollywood is making superheroes less cool now by trying to make them an easy cashcow. Warhammer showed me the true potential these bloodsuckers had in coolness factor, and I will love it for that. Speaking of cool: the fact they are necromancers, another thing I adore for it's coolness factor, makes me love them all the more. I get to be an undead telling other undead to do awful shit for me. sorry high elves, THAT'S what magic is about. Not your nature or goody two shoes 'keeping order' crap. Abusing your power until someone tries to stop you is ALL magic should be used for.
while i will always be a sour bastard about Old World I do like these AoS videos because i know VERY little about the setting, factions, and game honestly the orc warclans was hilariously awesome to me. hope you can do a Kharadon Overlords one soon i really wanna know how they work c:
Siennas necromamcer is abselutly worth it. Unique playstile and lots of cool points for bringing skelingtons to the fight. Vermintide 2 dlc are cheap anyways.

please something on cathay or the 40k ogres or the 40k dwarfs or the 40k any of the normal races
I once charged 10 chaos chosen against zombies. My poor chosen of khorne kinda ended them selfs... the vampire on a zombie dragon on the other hand was basicly part of the scenery.
Now that is a funny way to spell the "Soulblight Ravelords"
insert Necrodancer theme here
Hear me out
Morbius
Nagash and the vampire hierarchy over the mortals can be best described as something akin to the clusterfuck of assassins sent after Padme in episode 2.
42 is not "around 25 years old". Luckily as an aelf most people can't tell the difference.
Lol same. 2005 is just a few years ago, right?
@@Techpriest101019 years ago, yeah
I appreciate a good pink woman and roundmeal jumpscare.
Today I found out Pancreas is the same age as me.
I'm glad I don't look that old though
Today I learned he's in the same age range as me *and* we have the same name lmao
Wait a second....I literally just caught on that you were using zombie song lyrics as lines in the script and BOOM you drop the Dier riese trailer. touché my man very touché
What a fine companion piece to playing a Carstein campaign.
Wording the function of vampires as the generals of monster hierarchy is interesting. I didn’t think of it that way.
cannot wait for the flesh eater courts video, I want to get into aos but havent found a faction I really gel with but I love the concept behind the courts and wanna find out their lore
30 days of night single-handedly kept vampires terrifying for me. Huge recommendation for that movie if you haven’t seen it.
My soulblight army is the New Sylvania Tourism Board’s legal team. They are sent to deal with whoever leaves a bad review of New Slyvania in order to make them retract that bad review.
I love the style you make your videos in keep up the good work you’re funny asf.
I've always loved vampires, but reading Dracula and playing Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines amped it up to 11.
Vampire the masquerase v5 brought back to modern Vampire single handedly
Siennas necro career has the same level of new toys as the other new careers but in my opinion a lot of the customisation boils down to more skeletons, it’s a fun career if you want to be spooky but it’s not grail knight on release levels of powerful
12:30 woah… nagash needs me? What am I gonna do? Nagash chose me to lead the soulblight gravelords. Ok. Im going to bat for you nagash! I got your back nagash!
Since you asked, yes, Sienna's Necromancer career is very fun and good.
I just got these guys and I wanna do a pure Skelton army
I have fun with necro in Vermintide. Sit in the back and point minions to do the work. The new weapons are fun too
Man just 2 hours ago I was checking for a new video.
Day 1 of asking for a video on Vlad Von Carstein.
29:51 I remember commenting that on your Manfred von karstein video.
Damn, that nostalgia tickle hit hard. The good ole days
Are there any hard-core dedicated anti-vampire forces like, uh, The Van Helsing Squad, or is it just kill evil thing when you see it?
I cannot stand for slander against New Summercourt! They definately have a plan... maybe? Anyways amazing video!
Abusing your power until someone tries to stop you is ALL magic should be used for.
while i will always be a sour bastard about Old World I do like these AoS videos because i know VERY little about the setting, factions, and game
honestly the orc warclans was hilariously awesome to me.
hope you can do a Kharadon Overlords one soon i really wanna know how they work c:
Siennas necromamcer is abselutly worth it. Unique playstile and lots of cool points for bringing skelingtons to the fight. Vermintide 2 dlc are cheap anyways.
