Dude line your catchcan with a garbage bag.. you pull the catchcan out. Pull the bag with the oil in it.. poke a hole in the bag, drain the used oil in your used oil receptacle throw the bag away done. No clean up..
One tip to remember is after installing new gear oil is to find a big empty parkinglot and do 8-10 slow tight figure 8's to slosh the gear oil with friction modifier on all the gears to coat em
BG also makes a great oil for the rear differentials and when I change any oil in my car that has the potential to have metal shavings in it, I like to run some clean oil through it before filling it back up again. Just a helpful tip to get any of the extra crap out you don't want in there. Good video though thx. Gustavo Musa so far yes, took care of the noise and haven’t noticed it since. But I can’t promise it will fix your issue in case it maybe something different. It cost about $40 for me to get the fluid
Gustavo Musa it did but what really made the difference was the little bottle of friction modifier XL-3 from motorcraft ad one every time you change the diff oil and everything will go smooth, in the owners manual are some specs too, page 301 I think.

The plugs already have seals on them. Adding teflon could actually cause them to leak. A little less then the 2 qts was added i dont know the exact amount

I'll likely pull it into my buddies shop next week and just pull the filler plug and stick my finger in to check, sucks that you can't trust half these shops to do it right. I got my oil changed last week as we have shit ton of snow otherwise I do it myself, I told the guy just dump 10l into it shit your paying an arm and leg get it done right lol guy puts in 9.5l shows me the dip stick and wow it wasn't on the full line so I politely said to put 10l and the guy literally poured tiny bit then closed up the car. Lol. Anyways thanks for the info, you still have the car by chance and if so done much with it I know this clip is 4y old just thought I'd check.
@BrandonChinMustangFan I think I'm going to add more diff fluid seeing you said you almost used both bottles, my 2nd has at least half in it so even if I add half of that it'll leave couple inches in it as you did with yours. Next I'm attacking my 10r80 changing the fluid with fresh oem stuff, states you do it between 30-60k or 2-4 year's so seeing I take it to the track I think it'll be worth the time to do it even though only at 36k.

Chris Blake nothing wrong with it at all! I preferred something with a higher viscosity for how much I throw at it, most people I know prefer that route as well. Also I’ve seen reviews of people who get better lubrication with other brands. But nothing wrong with motorcraft fluid at all!
Yes you can just remember it will lower your mpg if that’s something concerning to you. That weight is usually used when I go to the track to help keep the diff from overheating

Sometimes the gear whine can come from the oil but it can also come from the gears of the transmission itself, if that's the case then the rear end would have to be rebuilt to fix the problem due to how specific the measurements are on the diff

Manufacturer calls for 75w-85, and I use ravenol products! They are the best in the industry worldwide and for really good prices!! A lot race teams use it and they actually have 100% true synthetic. Unlike here in US group 3 oils can be named full synthetic when it’s not true. That’s illegal In Europe lol. I also use ravenol 5w 50 RRS race oil. Ford actually recommends to use 5w50 now. And it’s what the focus RS uses. But any how ravenol is the best best! Don’t take my word for it! Go do your own research about the company! It’s impressive!! Been around 80 years and endorsed by the best manufacturers and race teams in the industry! Unfortunately ravenol does not make transmission fluid for the mustang ecoboost but they got everything else!! For transmission fluid I stick with motocraft! Since the transmission are so sensitive I only use oem every thing on transmission. My buddy has a 1500whp mustang GT and he uses all motocraft fluids that’s recommended by manufacturer. But I just use motocraft for transmission and ravenol for rest

So idk how going with a thicker gear oil will benefit ima look into it.

Just did mine, at 41k miles, 75w140 amsoil severe gear and a bottle of ford friction modifier did almost 2qts and the 3.8oz bottle of FFM

I used the royal purple 74w140 it has additive already in it, I went with heavier stuff as I track the car as well.

Amsoil Severe Gear is the best gear oil. All I will run in anything.
Amsoil is the only true grade 4 synthetic oils you can get in the u.s. Best stuff.

I had this issue kind of vibration when turning any direction going slow I presume is the oil and friction modifier needs to be replaced

Ford recommends to change the diff fluid at 100k but I do mine usually every 50k

From what I know of Ford recommends 75W-80 on 2014-2019 Mustangs as of 7/2018. That was the last I knew of but that definitely could've changed

Every drain plug has a torque spec make sure your not over torquing look it up for every drain plug

Here you go man, I don’t recommend buying from that website because you can find it cheaper but there you can see the friction modifier is added in the gear oil already, hope that helps

FatGuyBuilds yes after putting it in while I had the vehicle it seemed to work better actually but you don’t want to put too much if you decide to use a separate friction modifier
