- Hendry County, a remote area in south-central Florida, has become the epicenter of the American monkey farming industry. For years, the county's private monkey farms had been quietly importing and breeding monkeys for sale to medical and scientific institutions for research. However, a proposal to build an additional monkey farm in the same region has recently caught on as a hot issue among animal rights activists, who hope to put an end to the entire operation. Have you watched monkey videos from Cambodia? Hell, this can't be any worse than what the mother monkeys (and alpha males) do to their babies.its all horrible but alot of them get treated (tossed out of trees onto rocks to suffer for days before death, gutted by males etc, )just as bad in the wild..
Also PETA runs animal shelters that have the largest kill rate of any other, they put down almost 90 percent of the dogs and cats that come into their shelters, don't adopt out hardly any, I really have a hard time believing most of what they say.

EXACTLY! PETA has an agenda and has no problem manipulating and out right lying to their audience to reach their goal. Not only that, most of the people who champion this cause, know little to nothing of monkey psychology. Most rely on anthropomorphizing their behavior to elicite sympathy. All the while, completely ignoring their cruelty and viciousness towards each other, children and other animals. Not to mention their documented destruction of their habitats and ecosystems. Widh we could hear from those that have to live around them, daily! A whole different story would come to light! NO T EARS SHED here for these Tree Demons! Getting EXACTLY what they deserve!

Why is it all we hear about is 'Stop the monkey testing'. By far, I coulkd give a rats ass about monkey testing and would 100% support 'Stop the testing of domestic animals!' Dogs and cats especially. Animal testing is animal cruelty plain and simple. But all we hear about are the monkeys.
Dogs and cats are just animals to so why not do testing on them to and they out number people to, to many starving dogs and cats in the United states and they get abused so why not put them out of their misery.

I saw a report that PETA stole pets(why pets? ) as well as took animals from shelters and killed them all. Percentages were way high of killing vs finding homes for the animals. How does that make PETA a good organization?

I'd be willing to bet a years wages that if Miss PETA's child got cancer and the doctors told her there was a cure, but the cure had been found through primate research, that she wouldn't have a single problem giving her child that treatment. It's always easy to say there aren't any benefits when it isn't your loved one, or yourself, dying in a hospital room.

These labs use research animals for testing before it can even get approved by the FDA to go through human trials.
All trials are on a volunteer basis, biomedical research companies don't just select a group of people at random like they do for jury duty. Testing animals are volunteered but the humans doing the testing after they've tested&completed their animal test trials are solely done by volunteers, and often paid
Why don't be we use you people in Florida for testing ? They could test to see if you have a heart be coming because I don't think you do. No one that has a heart would do what you do to those innocent animals. How would you like to be kept in a cage away from family and friends and we experimented on till you die , then dissected and thrown away? I think it’s a very controversial topic. I love primates and all animals, however thanks to the research done on pigs decades ago I can be alive today. I use an artificial insulin today, but at the beginning it was extracted from pigs. I hope that we will soon move on from the animal testing, but I am grateful for a development of a medicine that saves my life…

We live in a very cruel world and there is not way out of it - millions are alive today because we use and abuse animals - including me.

I think that it is wrong to experiment on cats 🐈or dogs, but, OK to use monkeys, especially in relation to neurological procedures, monkeys are far more suitable, as they are much closer in their resemblance to humans.
If there was a "faster, cheaper, more effective" way of creating drugs, that method would be used.
There is a cheaper more effective way test on pedos and murders.

3:28 I found it laughable when she said using the collars and restraint chairs is "more of a willing worker cooperative situation". I'm not saying I agree or disagree with animal testing, I just think the way she described using those restraint chairs was kind of ridiculous.
I was astounded by that idiotic statement as well and when she said the monkeys were "helping" in the research. The monkeys or any other animal are not volunteering to give up their freedom to "help" do any research. The monkeys are not a "willing worker" either. They are prisoners in these facilities.

Just a PR suggestion. Lose the smirk lady... Certainly there are many things that could be tested without harming animals, it is not like all testing is for vaccines.
This woman is nuts. She says there are effective alternatives to animal testing but does not elaborate. As the facility director states, computer simulations can only go so far. Primate testing is needed and will continue to be needed for a long time to come. BTW, you do know that one of the ultimate goals of PETA is to eliminate ALL pet ownership, don't you?
The animal rights movement simply opposes domestication and breeding, PETA also euthenises sick and injured pets. They have terrible rumors spread on them by the Center of Consumer Freedom. Animal experimentaiton is an inherent cruelty that we're morally obligated to abolish, I don't know what the alternatives are but we have to find them and stop subjecting animals to torture.
That last claim is totally false and should be removed as misinformation.

We can't do away with this testing in animals yet. Because of these experiments, countless humans have been saved from death. Eventually in another 25-35 years I believe this will stop, but even I who loves pets and animals believe stopping now is not right. Developing better ways is coming as I said before, in 25-35 years.
If a few monkeys have to die so that millions of humans can live, then so be it. It's logical.

Not that it's right to use these monkeys for testing. Peta needs to quit. If Peta, had their way we wouldn't have dog's or cat's in our home's. We would have a over population of deer herds, Elk herds and so on. No it isn't right to use these poor monkeys for testing. I'm a animal lover, my dog is spoiled rotten. Then again she should be. She is my fury daughter. I love her dearly. Peta, would love us all if we were vegetarians and have no pet's. And yes, there are people who shouldn't have pets. Then again there are people, like me who treat them like family. I throw birthday party's for my baby. And yes, Santa Clause always brings my baby Christmas gifts. I've been hunting and yes, I've shot deer for food only. So Peta, needs to well, shut up. Unless it is in case's like this. We all agree that monkeys are like humans, but using them like this is wrong. I think it's okay to have one as a pet, but you had better love it like it was your own baby. Not to use it as a test for human disease's.

Testing on humans who are already sentenced to death is common sense. It would be much more accurate for one thing.

Also, medical developments are already tested on humans with terrifying results. The animal testing phase is not for refining a product but for mitigation of catastrophic outcomes..yet, drugs can pass primate and rodent testing and still be toxic to humans. I don't want to see the ensuing carnage if we adopt/implement "no animal testing" in real life.

We need animals for many things: food, clothing, labour, comapanianship and more. Nobody on Planet Earth including vegans can say they have never used the products we need from animals. I love animals and do not approve of unesossary cruelty of any animal but we simply cannot remove ourselves from it. To all those who oppose these comapanies maybe they would like to offer themselves up for this experimentation or their children instead of these animals then we would not need these places.

Had a guy who used to pick up hazardous waste materials from the grocery store I worked at. Told me he got called to do a pickup at a monkey farm in florida…..said it was a long dirt road just like this one & said the people were SUPER sketchy in there about where he was allowed to go.

Hopefully, in the not to distant future, we won’t need animals for testing drugs etc. However, meanwhile - let’s demand that they are treated with respect and kindness. If an animal is coming round after being anesthestised , it should be given warmth and made comfortable and no animal should be handled roughly. The problem with macaques is; they are so unlikable and therefore people tend to treat them badly.....but the poor animal can’t help how it was born.
I see nothing wrong with this. If you've had any type of disease successfully treated or cured, chances are you can thank a lab animal for it.

Is this about the place past the Hendry county prison in Collier county? If so I've been there I did an estimate for their water treatment system it was some creepy stuff went into one of the holding areas and all the monkeys freaked out when this guy picked up a rod to push their water sensor
why with these little monkeys wiyh so much love to give can be treated like this by our government. Why try to deny people with physical and emotional needs with so much love to give are denied the monkeys love and companionship.
That was probably their PR monkey, that does nothing but climb in and out of that chair for treats. Come on who can't see through that? At best it was in training for getting in and out, which they might do with the monkeys several times to get them used to it. I'll bet a monkey that's actually been "worked with" would not so calmly walk up and climb in. There's a reason they have those poles, why it takes two people, why they're wearing face masks. Routine I'm sure is a thrashing about monkey that is throwing feces at them, resisting the whole way through.
Well your wrong soooo.... most animals are literally just getting some kind of shot and some blood draws. The small amount of pain does not prevent people from donating blood the same is true for monkeys. They really like treats and are easy to coax to do what you want. Its actually beneficial for them to be calm. If they move while being given a medication they may not get the amount they were supposed to, compromising the data. And they are expensive animals so abusing them isnt really in peoples best interest.
