Grant, if you didn't know already know they make spot weld cutting bits, and when you're drilling metal its low speed high feed. You want to see nice curly q's of metal coming off the tip. Drilling full speed overheats and dulls your bit in seconds.

He said he wants to make the car as light as possible. A lot of big teams in FD acid dip their cars. This strips the outer layer of the cars metal making it thinner and shaving off another 100lbs. Seems a bit overkill but his goal is being light after all.

Grant! Should be a great build to follow. If I could guess...like others here....much of the car components is either going out to get powder coated or some type of liner...cage will be cleaned up and painted with steelit. I don't think though it's going for a beer livery this time though ;).

nice build, more updates on that beauty please. maybe consider to reinforce the rear struts and rear subframe mounts with the cage. these parts tend to bend and break apart with such setups. But I'm sure thats already on the todo list

I would make an aluminum panel with a lip on it to rivet into that cubby at the bottom of the 1/4 so if you needed access you just drill a couple rivets Definitely spend the money on some lighter brakes unsprung weight savings is huge especially when it’s also rotational typically 1 pound saved is like taking 10 pounds out of the car and it’s worth even more on rotational As for the stock fuel tank some things I’ve had issues with are venting, both sides need to be vented independently no t or y connection, the stock return can be restrictive but I just have a y through the bulk head one going to the stock return venturi and one not, a surge tank would probably help a bunch I don’t know if radium has one available but even an external one would do since the back of the car is open
My front wheel came inside and shattered my left leg. My femur popped out of my thigh my ankle has screws my knee is fucked. My pelvic is in 3 pieces. So yeah them anti-extrusion bars are important!
My buddy had plates and screws put in his ankle after breaking it. The pain never went away after it was healed. He convinced his doctor to take the screws out and the pain went away. @@Watchmedome3017
Grant. It might sound silly but could you run some type of super close weave mesh? So it stops a lot of the tyre getting in there. And if it gets hit, the mesh will just bend in and not damage anything.

I’m surprised you still running an optima battery unless they are a sponsor. I’ve found the Odyssey extreme battery’s cost about the same but out performs them in every way , more reserve, more cca and they handle deep discharge many more times without crapping out in you. ✌️

You could always make like a plastic or rubber like inner fender well per say to help limit the space between the over fender and the actual body of the car to keep rubber and debris out of that pocket also little thing you could do is make a plate that can unbolt in a case that you do need to push out the rear quarter area there

@@MrHianga I’m good now. That was a few years ago. I still feel the pain everyday but I’m walking. 2 rods - 3 plates over 20 screws and pins.

They have sk8 high and half cab versions of it
