- "Leather and Lace" is a song performed by American singers Stevie Nicks and Don Henley. It was released on October 6, 1981 as the second single from Nicks' solo debut studio album Bella Donna (1981).
Nicks wrote the song for Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter's duet album Leather and Lace, but the song was not included on the album. Nicks' version, a duet with Eagles singer Don Henley, peaked at number six on the US Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in January 1982.

My parent's wedding song. It's always been special. They often joked that was the reason I became Stevie obsessed. My dad is gone now, but I just sent this to my mom...I hope she loves it. I know it's hard for her to listen to, but I couldn't just let this go, it sounds beautiful this way. Stevie using her upper register is so rare, ugh, it's perfect.

On top of everything else, pretty sure that’s a rare example of Stevie playing guitar. As she jokes at the end, it’s not sterling, but shows she could play more than well enough to write incredible songs like this one.

Yes and WE WERE\ARE LUCKY to have lived during her reign as a Rock Goddess. I get emotional when I think of her. She was my first crush, she was and is a major part of my life. When I hear her I am transported back to those beautiful days when my family were alive and we spent all of our time listening to music. I miss them all, but they come back to visit when I listen to my Stevie. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

The Best songs are the the ones that don't need electricity. The Greatest songs are the "originals", played live, instead of in a studio. This song brought the best of Rocks two bands together, Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles. I am so grateful for this song, for Stevie Nicks and Don Henley. I've been playing this song on guitar and singing it, since my first year of High School and I play it, to this day. I can no-longer sing, due to polypoid-corditis, but I can still dream.

What irony...Stevie wanted to write a song for someone famous...like...herself. Not to take anything away from the great WJ, but, Stevie, especially with FM...pretty famous by any metric. On the released version, besides Stevie's incredibly emotive delivery, Roy Bittan's keyboard is magical. Incredibly tasteful. Amazing how diverse the music was in 1981/1982. Sad the industry died with file sharing and streaming.

I’ve always loved this song & had no idea she wrote this for Waylon & Jessi. Love the “back story” of how it all came about. Not a huge fan of this version bc of the tempo but the pure rawness of it I love. So glad the released version was a little slower & the music (while maybe a little too polished) has so much more feeling & their vocals still capture ALL the feeling of the lyrics AND music! Thanks for sharing! Great story & rare glimpse into the raw magic of how this song came to be.
