This is a fantastic video! That pricepoint for TvPaint really can't be understated. I'd be most keen on seeing a TvPaint vs Krita video, as I find TvPaint has tons of features, but Krita is slowly working on catching up to them it seems, while still being totally free.
Not to mention TvPaint's model of paying for updates (at a slightly lower cost than buying for the first time) is, not ideal.
It's also worth mentioning that Grease Pencil being a 3D Object can feel really strange to an artist, the strokes are no longer just regular strokes one can erase at will, but they are embedded with very palpable points that makes erasing strokes, difficult for a newbie like me.
And, the exporting process is, strange. At least last time I used it, I had a big issue of colours exporting in a weird way that gave what almost looked like z-fighting (i.e, the colour would flicker between shades of itself inconsistently upon export).
I imagine my settings were not set up right but that really adds to the learning curve when in TvPaint you export and it looks exactly as it should.

The untold truth is that blender set of skills si necesary. You can do somegood work it but someone that knows 3d modeling, cell shading, geometry notes, and Grease pencil is going to be able to do better work in less time

How would you rate Clip Studio, especially with its 3D assets and Vector layers?

From the standpoint of a novice, who's used Grease Pencil, TvPaint, Krita, and CSP, CSP is by far the worst of them.
I have a powerful computer, and yet it cannot play my animations in real time properly, when it comes to scenes lasting longer than 15 seconds or so, it'll stutter.
There is no Audio Scrubbing, at all. That is a total dealbreaker for me, because now, instead of being able to just scrub the timeline and sync accordingly, I have to open up another program, like Blender or Audacity, zoom in, do some math, figure out what sound clips line up with what frame, and then guess, insert audio, export with audio, check, then fix frames, and go back and forth between exporting and stuff until the audio syncs up right.
That is, incredibly tedious, when Krita, which is totally free, has way more features (storyboarding features and actually has Audio Scrubbing!) and functions much better for me. My only gripe with it is the eraser doesn't work how I want but that's not a problem compared to the total lack of Audio Scrubbing or real time playback that is accurate.

@@grrawesomenessc.8399 I use CSP for a lot of things outside animation. Having worked with Flash and a little C4D, I thought that CSP's approach to animation was pretty confusing and "non-standard," too. (BTW: I believe that Version 3 *_will_* get Audio Scrubbing, so yay, I guess. ;) I can certainly see how its absence would be a *_major_* shortcoming.) I use CSP-EX in comics production for *_everything_* and it is my beloved workhorse. :) Sorry it sucks at animation. :(

The 5 december 2023... TVPaintPro is used by animation studios like Folimage (Bourg-les-Valence) in France, since many years.
It is my favorite 2d animation sofware. I tried also After Effects, Krita, Tupi2d, and Opentoonz but it is the software I prefer. Regards, Mikael
