    Just made this today for guests in restaurant. They didn't want dessert. So i offered them this drink as dessert. They loved it 😊

    Love this cocktail. I first made a paper plane, and loved that, then I heard about this twist on the recipe, and man what a great "variant," as we say in 2021. The smoke from the mezcal gives it such a new depth.

    When you clip your mic to the straps of your apron you can hear the leather quietly creaking, and for some strange reason I love it.

    Great vid. The mic is picking up a little bit of scratchy noise (I think it’s the leather strap on your apron like before).

    Just tried this... picked up a bottle of yellow chartreuse, unfortunately they don’t have the small bottles... a regular one is 55 bucks here. Holy heck this is amazing... would this be classified as a Last Word variant or there a better term for it... equal parts shaken cocktail.

Also, given that you have sung etc at the intro of some cocktail videos (which I enjoy and think there should be more of the same), I'm really glad you didn't take the opportunity to go "naked and famous" for the into to this video. • @TheEducatedBarfly

    I just can't find a decent mezcal in New Zealand at a decent price range. So many great cocktails that I'm missing out on :-(

    • @TheEducatedBarfly
      @TheEducatedBarfly  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      are you allowed to order over the internet or will you pay crazy tax?

    • @franzfanz
      @franzfanz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheEducatedBarfly Yeah we can buy online but excise tax and GST (sales tax) pretty much accounts for half the purchase price of a bottle of spirits whether or not you buy in store or not. My usual go to website is usually a good ten to fifteen percent cheaper than stores but is still expensive for mezcal. It's mostly because it hasn't yet taken off here so importers are only buying it in small quantities which means high prices. Maybe later in the year when I have a little more time more money I might splurge on a bottle.

    What’s the difference between Del Maguey Chichicapa and the Ilegal mezcal?

    • @TheEducatedBarfly
      @TheEducatedBarfly  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The flavor profile has a lot more citrus in the Chichicapa but ilegal works too and chichicapa is kind of an expensive bottle at 71 bucks as opposed to Ilegal (which works wonderfully in the drink) which retails at about 35
