This baritone has a lovely tone Ken. You're such a good advertisement for Ohana - if I ever wanted a baritone, I'd definitely consider this one after hearing you play it.
@jpablosnm Provided you deal with the nut issue, there is no problem. Unless, of course, the saddle is offset (compensated). If so, this would need to be "reversed" too.
Always enjoyable watching your review Ken. It is a lovely sound you get...Sure I read somewhere you coulod get traditional uke tuning strings for a baritone somewhere. The extra size could give more bass to a nice low g sound if so Chris
Ken, thanks for a calm review, thoughtfully organized. I appreciated it very much. I have an Ohana BK10. I retired and wanted something to learn. In time I will trade up to the BK35 . I’m leaning to the satin finish instead of gloss for a softer sound. Stay well.
could sit through a demo of all the uke's you promote and not get fed up with your playing Ken might even buy a euke myself after listening to the tones you achieve. cheers Clive
I'm going use this vid to convince my husband he needs a uke. He's pro-uke, but learning something radically different from guitar tuning puts him off. This isn't radically different, and from my sk38, he knows how good an Ohana can be.
Lovely sound. I'm looking to upgrade from my Brunswick BU4B which has been amazing value for money but I'm looking for a softer tone. Your demo certainly suggests that the BK-35 is an instrument to seriously consider. Many thanks for your excellent, informative and enjoyable upload. I'm betting that you're a superb teacher with your gentle style.
@jpablosnm It is not quite that easy. When you put the strings on upside down, the grooves in the nut will be the wrong size. The shop where you buy it may be able to do it for you though.
A Ukulele novice I didn't realise that chord shapes I'm learning on a tenor could be played on a baritone.. albeit under different names. Thanks for that. Re: supply.... I want to get a solid wood Ohana but TK35s don't seem to be available in the U.K. ?? Are they coming?
HEY KEN YOU TAUGHT MY OLD MUSIC CLASS BACK IN HIGH SCHOOL ABOUT 3-4 years ago? ALSAGER HIGH SCHOOL! me and u used to talk about ukulele's a lot in class!
The 35 series from Ohana is far and away my favorite line among all models in this price point and even higher. So when I decided to buy a Baritone, after already owning an Ohana Concert 35 series Uke, this was an easy choice...
@rishiomedia California is probably the best state for buying Ohanas. No it is not a new model. Yu can use guitar books up to a point, but don't think of it as a small guitar. It is a ukulele.
just started playing the ukulele. I bought a cordoba concert ukulele but I really want a baritone. I am looking at an Oscar Schmidt mahogany acoustic electric OU52E and the Cordoba baritone (looks like they only have one). I was wondering if you had a preference between these two or any suggestions for a new player like me in the mid range prices.
Hi Ken, I have seen some of your videos and you are awesome. Can you tell me why you prefer the tenor over the baritone? Have you considered ever trying the baritone with the standard ukulele tuning?
Very nice , I just got the bk-20 for the price which only has the solid top and the rest laminate. Nice enough sound and balance full solid. Still better than the cheap 150 all laminate ukulele Mahalo. I’m restricted by price unfortunately and 1 solid top adds to the quality of the sound. Bought from a shop so I could play and hear what I’m getting.
No idea about prices at the moment. If it is new, there should be no issues at all. Ohana have been making this model for many years. It's a great uke.
Forgive my question, but I was wondering about the very last note that was played in the opening tune. I am unable to locate any info on what that is, let alone how to do it, because I have no idea what it is called. Any help would be much appreciated... it has been weeks of searching with no results. Have a blessed day :)
I just ordered mine this morning. I had not heard you play in this video yet. Mine has the cutaway. I hope it sounds as good as the one you played.
If you want to hear it with my strings on, check out my latest couple of videos.
I could listen to you play all day
Thank you. If you ever want to do that, just choose one of the playlists.
@Kroffe75 GHS are OK. They get a bit of a bad press, but in the end they are just strings.

Nice Ken.. I have both baritone and soprano and enjoy both for different reasons. Thanks for that review of the ohana,
@JChoneybell Will do, JC. But I can't say when.
@freackykit I think the baritone strings may work better though, Chris. Tenor strings on a baritone body would change the balance quite a bit.
@emjenic There used to be a gloss version, but it is not a current model.
Great review, Ken. Beautiful music you make.

The BK35 is a baritone that I still use regularly.Either the matt or glass would be a good choice. There is virtually no difference.
Nice review as always ken!
Must say i'm not a big fan of GHS strings but they sound very nice on this baritone, a bit more mellow, jazzy even.
Enjoyed watching a review and demo from someone who can ... actually play! 🙋♂️
Thanks for watching and commenting.

Very interesting comparison to the other instruments.
Sounds great.
@MrEricgal They sell too well worldwide. Yes, they will arrive soon.
Thanks for listening. I am just making something up. It is not a tune that is famous.
Thanks for watching.

Super instrument, thank you for the introduction! ;)
Thanks for watching.
@clivedavies3 Thank you, Clive. I really appreciate your comments.
It really depends in which store and in which country. But check the Ohana website for the current list price.

Nice and clear review of a beautiful instrument, Ken, thanks! Is there, or will there be, a Bk-35G?

Thanks for a beautiful rendition i would love to know the name of the melody you are playing. Many thanks Ray.

Excellent choice. I have used mine at several major festivals.
@cariboubill Thanks very much, Bill.
@fourteentwelve Thanks Michelle. It really is a nice uke.
@songblurred Thanks very much.
Nice review Ken, since a certain time I'm more and more interesting about having a bariton…could be a right choice…
If you are getting one of these, it will certainly sound pretty good.
@woodcutter610328 Thanks for watching. The tenor size is my all-round favourite uke.
Lovely!
Thanks.
@waterdog226 Thank you, Lynda.
Thanks again.
Thanks Ken, most helpful.

@Wrongemboyo3 Thanks for watching.
Are all those ukes yours?
@Apollostowel That sounds like a plan.
It would depend which shop, in which country.

The tenor without question. I have done over 400 tenor ukulele videos.
Hi Ken, I have seen some of your videos and you are awesome. Can you tell me why you prefer the tenor over the baritone? Have you considered ever trying the baritone with the standard ukulele tuning?
@samuelastley Hi Sam. I remember.

Yes, the solid top version is great value and has a terrific sound. Congrats.
what's the price of the ukulele?
@deach69 Not all of them. None, in fact.
What song?
@friendlyfloatees Thanks.
is this available online
I would be surprised if you couldn't find it online.
Are they still as good today , Just ordered one,
No idea about the newer ones. I am using the one in video at a concert this coming weekend.
Thank you for answering do you think it will be any good i payed £289 FOR IT.@@KenMiddletonUkulele

@@KenMiddletonUkulele Thank you Very much for your Help, it is a new one.
Can you tell me How much it cost?
Nope. You will have to check with a sore. look at the Ohana website first.
@CorporealPatronus Thanks for watching. I see that you are looking at quite a number of my videos. There are a lot to choose from.
i think your soft melodic playing more than made up for the new strings slipping.
I work for Ohana, but, in all honesty, i would not advise any player to buy either of those two ukes.
There isn't a song. I am just playing a few chords.
Dublin Guitar Centre. Tune it whatever way you want.
Simply beautiful....(crap-now I'm gonna put money out for one:)
Thanks for watching.

It is called an artificial harmonic.
Well thank you. Weeks of searching answered in a few minutes :)

Sorry.
Thank you. I would like to won and practice on one of these.
