This highly praised arrangement of Amazing Grace was done by the ingenious Devereaux van der Hoven-Oosthuizen, who also arranged Flower Duet (duet with Corlea Botha), Halleluja, O Sole Mio (duet with Patrizio Buanne), Onse Vader, Plaisir D 'Amour. He appears playing guitar in the 2017 "My Way by Amira & Friends" video. You don't see renditions of non-classical songs with as much classic color as you see in Amira's flawless renditions. Towards the end, Amira explodes and unleashes a beautiful and effortless 5 seconds high E-flat, the marker of a true world class soprano. Amira has created a definitive version of Amazing Grace that will be hard to beat for decades to come.
many of us who have watched Amira from the beginning have long identified her as a world class soprano while so-called 'voice teachers' have said she is a mezzo. It is difficult right now to determine whether she will be a lyric or dramatic coloratura....but in the current class of of young soprano's she stands alone as having a truly operatic quality voice
@@michaelbarry8513 She is practicing dance and drama. I would bet on dramatic coloratura. She will be able to sing many arias and will also be able to venture into Broadway, IMHO. I also watched Amira since 2013. And she isn't a mezzo at all. Corlea Botha is a mezzo. She often sings as a light soprano, but here and there she reveals characteristics of a coloratura soprano. And she does it with a teenager's phonation apparatus.I wonder what she will be able to produce with a mature device in the near future. What she showed in La Vergine degli Angeli was already amazing.
Amira was 12 or 13 years old here (now 17) and what a controlled voice in a 2nd language. Beautiful. And yes, the pipes sounding in the beginning make you drift of to sad events…

When Amira first posted this a few years back it took me 6 months before I finally had the courage to listen. And sure enough I knew Amira would crush this. I love this performance. Yes hearing it does bring some Soares too. Year ago June lost my Dad, January this year lost my Uncle & Godfather, and two days ago lost my Cousin to covid. Listening to Amira really brings hope in the heavens. I like to think we hear these sounds on are way up. Nice reaction.

My favorite 2 versions are from her and from André Rieu with his orchestra and, i believe, around 150 bagpipe players. Honored that i was there on the day that we got King Willem Alexander when André Rieu was giving a free concert here in Amsterdam and they did that song. Will send the link here
