In ableton live you can just import a track, highlight the part you want to snip and copy paste it into a channel. However you can also do it the old fasioned way and import your track into a sound editing program like Adobe Audition, Soundforge or Audacity to do your clipping.
Sdddude123 basicly, you can find really good tutorials if you search on youtube, but once you get used to it, i really just boils down to isolating the sound you want to sample and copy/pasting it into its own individual sample.
