Gonna get ahead of this here even though I'm sure I'll get comments on it anyway. Obviously, it wasn't my intention to make fun of a character on the autism spectrum. I don't know that much about the condition to be honest and I'm not an expert at identifying it. Regardless, if I had known I probably would have been a bit nicer, so my bad if I offended anymore sensitive to the subject.
As someone who is on the autism spectrum and have many family members who are, I don’t think you were at all bad, it’s hard to understand something if you have no frame of reference and especially when movies kind of use certain tells for their evil characters. The biggest tell is the fact he was obsessed with having dinner at the exact minute, and how he needed order.
If you remember last year I talked to you about the word triggered and said I don’t like it being used as a word for just losing your temper as it was originally a word for mental illness when someone can’t control their emotions. This is what this was, but because of the lack of education on mental health, people don’t know the difference, to some this just looks like a nutcase getting angry and taking things too far, this isn’t your fault and I don’t feel you were too rude to the character.

Thanks for owning your comments, I guess it's so obvious to some that he's on the spectrum we forget it's not obvious to all. I love the diversity of the characters and when you know each person's back story it breaks your heart a little.
I’m autistic and it wasn’t a problem at all. It’s not obvious to most people. I’ve had ‘friends’ say worse things even though they knew about it 🤷🏼♀️
I meeean you're an adult in a first world country and this show was aimed towards kids and most kids understood that he had some sort of condition even if they didn't know what Autism was buuut...

I love watching dumping ground it’s not what it’s like in real life but I find it entertaining and there’s a 9th season in December so exited
Can confirm as an ex care kid they are nothing like this but I like watching it as it's funny
I don't think they were aiming for realism just a children's television program

Year 12 boys are the same as first year college boys. They are 16/17 year olds... Carmen is 13 and Tee is 12 that is so weird why would they even be invited?

@@milamcg40 They're not 15 in the first season of the dumping ground haha, infact, Tee isn't 15 until the fourth season because she's just less than two years younger than Johnny and Johnny is 16 in the third season.
