My lord, the fashion was so fabulous! And the dancing just makes you happy to watch...love dancing and trying to replicate these moves! (Most of them were pros)
I disagree. I watched from early 70s until 90s. The beginning it was high school and college kids. Maybe later you had a some pro dancers. But majority weren't professional especially in the 70s.
I love the whistle in the backround. It just screams 70's. "You Should Be Dancin" was a perfect Soul Train line song. Just the right tempo for those who know how to move & groove to the beat.
So proud of Soul Train it gave us brotha's and sista's growing up in the hood a show to be inspired by back the day. Every Saturday was clean the house and watch Soul Train before you did anything, big ups to Don Cornelius and all dancers
I learned a lot of dance moves by watching this show. Love the line up part. This was a great disco song back then. I am glad I lived then and got to have a good time in life. Everything seemed so much more free then, unlike today.
RIP Don Cornelius. Thank you for creating something for 'us' that ended up crossing boundaries and barriers. Thank you for creating Shalamar giving Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniels to, reminding us and teaching us with the scramble board, black pride with the afro sheen commercials and all that. Thank you and all of the dancers that made us want to get our funky boogie. We watched to see what to wear and how to dance. Love, Peace and Soul
Saturday Night Fever should have been made with black people !!! We wouldn't be able to dance without you !!! Most white people still can't even clap on beat !!! And I'm white ! But I do have rhythm!! Thanks to my parents who were Arthur Murray dance teachers back in the day !! Thank You Soul Train, for giving me all my greatest dance moves !!! 👍💃❤
Can't say I agree ... they were one of my dad's favorite groups ever. And if you look at their chart history, several of their singles - including this one - were huge R&B chart hits. Plenty of black folks loved the Bee Gees.
So incredibly well said! Disco was all about unity and losing the boundaries, that's what made it so beautiful! Plus this song kicked ass! Even if it was the BeeGees,
Those were the days! And you had Bandstand, too. The good vibes just flowed continuously! There are no shows like this anymore. Dancing With The Stars doesn't count!
NIGHT CLUBS WITH THIS KIND OF ENERGY WHERE PEOPLE REALLY DANCED. THAT WHISTLE AND SIREN ENHANCES THE DANCING EXPERIENCE. I KNOW, I AM GEN X.....BEST TIME OF MUSIC LIKE THIS. I WAS AN ANTUAL DJ FROM THE 80'S AND 90'S....
Tjis was just a woderful time in life when it was all about dancing, and having a good time, no drugs, and no violence, just move your body to the music. DC, and Bmore clubs were the best.
That's Jeff Daniel and Jody Watley before they were in the group Shalamar. Jeff Daniel is notable for having influenced the popularity of the moonwalk during the 80's, and for his dancing/choreography work with Michael Jackson
How things were much simpler and everyone was happy with music and dance.... They should revive the show but do we have the right music nowadays? Things just are not the same anymore after Michael and Whitney are gone Being nostalgic...
I heard from interviews that Don kept a tight reign on behavior in this studio. Any slight trouble-making would get you booted. It was a very select group.
Suzette DuPont when folks actually danced ( and by that I mean going for what they know even if it wasn't much instead of being just stuck in a two-step or looking like a lazy log)
It’s too bad that there’s no dance shows like this, American Bandstand & also USA network’s Dance Party USA (back in the late ‘80’s-early ‘90’s) anymore. Sad! 😪🙏
Young Healthy Very Well Dressed Beautiful Black Peaple I'm Puerto Rican on the outside , but a Soul Man in the inside BUT! WHO THE HELL IS BLOWING THAT FREAKEN WHISTLE ?
My mom was a part of the disco era. Those whistles were handed out at certain discotheques. Seems to me some of these soul train dancers or crowd had a few and used them to go with the Bee Gees. If you're not used to it, I guess it can be annoying.
Look at these 60s and 70 yrs old dancing. That's their age now. Mybrother was 5yrs old when this song came. Now he's 50 yrs. To the young enjoy your life it goes by quickly. As of 2022
Absolutely tideoftime. Well said. I'm Black and loved the Bee Gees' new sound. I remember hearing them on the R&B station where I grew up. By the way, AqauriusCampio, I didn't grow up in the hood. I don't understand why being Black has to be synonomous with "the hood"...
barry gibb said of all he was soo happy to have his music on soul train... he was a real brother when it was played

Love that! The Bee Gees were true soul brothers, they did it right! 🕺🏿

What this song needs is more cow bel...no, no, more disco whistle.
The bee gees are soul brothers. we love the bee gees. they could really jam.. this was one of my fav songs
That's what I call having fun and enjoying music, not like the crap we listen to everyday nowadays.
This comment remains relevant today in 2021!

These women show how you can be classy and sexy without falling out of your clothes or showing a lot of skin. RIP Mr Don Cornelius. We appreciate you.
Beautiful young people. A more innocent time.
+Fly Rod Bass Bum i would not say " an innocent time " instead , but people at that time were more respectful
Not really. Lots of drugs. Like today.
Beautiful heroine a scary time
Yes. The 1970's were my favorite times. Lots were happening.

Oh c'mon, whistles were common back then, we heard them all the time. ..during this thing called P.E.
P.E.....Wow...I remember that lol
If you remember the scene in Saturday Night Fever where Travolta dances to this song, there were whistles there too...
If whistles were common back then. Than Its amazing there wasn't more murders at Night Clubs in the 70's.
@@Lone432345 There's more angry gangsta music nowadays ..so kids are now Kling each other & disrespecting their parents.
everyone smiling and having a good time. good to see.

RIP Mr. Don Cornelius, you gave us Soul Train and for that, we'll always come on chucking.
That dude at :56 with the pop locking tie move is epic!
I agree, his robot glide was crazy! I've never seen anybody do it so good! seems like the dancers back then are better than the dancers of today
exclusivestuff I agree with you. They made those types of dances more fun and less complex than it is now.
That was Jeff
I know, I watched it over and over
Warren Henry II ... Jeffery Daniels from Shalimar
I can't get enough of this video. I miss my childhood. I was about ten or eleven when this aired.

the soul train dancers could dance to anything---they were awesome dancers!!!!
Why do all these soul train videos give me good energy? I was SO born in the wrong times!
Jeffrey Daniels and Jody Watley, members of Shalamar, at around :57.
I feel like smiling when I see this.
I smile so hard my cheeks ache! 😁
Dejeo'n Fikre I smiled too

Revive the show with this music & 80s music, would be nice.
Music not the same ... 70-80’s good dance music!
Everyone is so thin and dancing so cool and easy going
People stop arguing and watch and enjoy the frickin' video!!!
The Bee gees great time to be living disco year 1976 you should be dancing Soul train hosted by Don Cornelius I'm glad I was alive
You can't go anywhere these days without a fight breakin out. Good ol' days.
Difference is though, this is on TV.
I heard from interviews that Don kept a tight reign on behavior in this studio. Any slight trouble-making would get you booted. It was a very select group.
You have no idea what you are talking about, especially being this was a TV show... I'm sure a fight was going to break out.
I love watching Soul Train dancers.
I do too!!
I didn't even notice the whistle. The cat with the tie at 56s is my hero!!!
EGADS!!! Check out those bell-bottoms. I miss this show...

The Soul Train line had the most creative dancers ever seen on TV. Check the guy with the tie doing the robot.
Oh man blew my mind!!!!
