Hi Matilda, yes the press really do focus on 'bad news' rather than positive as they know that it sells newspapers! Us humans have a 'negative bias' in that we tend to pay more attention to bad news 😔 So they print it! Well done for focusing on all that is good about Morecambe and you've just scratched the surface. We need more videos like yours! Take care 😊😊
OMG Pam Ayres I went to school with her niece, Pam lived in Stanford in the vale and her niece went to Faringdon School with me...I seem to recall a moment at a school disco with Pam's niece oh and another one when her horse got out LOL x
We used to have our annual school trip from Calderbridge to Morecambe in the 1960s. Highlights I remember were the Moby Dick, Sea World and Café Roy ? From what I remember every year they (grown ups) would think we should go somewhere different but always decided Morecambe was the best. There were 3 bus loads of us. At school we printed out the instructions etc on a silk screen duplicator. The job of us kids was to carry the printed copies and lay them on the desks to dry.
Hello Matilda Great Video Of Morecambe I Watched A Video The Other Night Of The Funfair That Was There Do They Have Amusements There now? It Kind Reminded Me Of A Tiny Blackpool I Like The UK Seaside Attractions I Enjoyed All The Shops In Morecambe😊
Last time I was in Morecambe (earlier this year) and also out of season it was really busy. Unfortunately, I have only been in Promenade Music once as other times it has been closed and is a long walk from railway station. I do like Morecambe though but do understand what some people think of the actual town as like many others things close and some places look derelict. The fairground looked horrible for a long time before they started building on parts of it. A lot has been spent on making the promenade look good but then there are areas that were great many years ago in the West End like the Battery etc that have become tired. I still like going though.
@@matildariverwaldennews that is good to hear. I know money was spent on the play area near there and the cafe and toilets. The paddling pool is a nice addition too on the promenade there. I know that the Winter Gardens is being done up too over a period of time and last time I looked in it was going well. I hope that something similar happens with the Alhambra building as that was looking tatty. Over the years things burnt unfortunately. The piers, the aquarium, the Moby Dick ship. The the outdoor pool went. As a child I remember sailing a boat in the water feature outside the old pool and going to shows in the bandstand and the little ride on the beach outside the Midland Hotel.
