This is why I love G1. All their alt modes were licensed cars which as a car enthusiast is an absolute win. Even the figure were very detailed in their alt modes in the 80s standard. I still collect all the car bots that are on spot to the vehicles modes. X transbots does an excellent job with this.
The masterpieces and 3rd party of that scale do a pretty good job replicating that aesthetic.

As a road racing fan. I gave the Cadillac 01 GTP the nickname Sunstreak. And the 31 nicknames Sideswipe. And the Porcshe with the toothy grin Grimlock.
An interesting idea. Personally, it wouldn't feel the same if it didn't have a large engine or intake in the rear to call it Sunstreaker. Unless going by other continuity rules as more reinterpretations.
Cliffjumper was not a beetle at all; there was indeed a red version of the Bumblebee beetle mode also made, but the Porsche car (924 Turbo) associated with the G1 Cliffjumper is factual; you can spot the telltale triangular air intake molded on the car’s front hood, on right side, it’s on the G1 figure too. The low profile spoiler is more exaggerated on the G1 figure, making it look different than the car.
The minibots have a resemblance to the vehicle they're meant to be, but weren't exactly accurate unlike the larger sized Diaclone cousins. Makes the fact Cliffjumper and Jazz teamed in the movie feel different since both are Porsches.
One correction I’d like to make: Swindle is not modeled after a Jeep CJ-7, it’s actually directly based on the Lamborghini Cheetah, which was an off-road prototype built in 1977 by Lamborghini. They even produced it in a very similar color to the G1 figure.
The reason I went with the CJ-7 is mainly following the front headlights of the car, which the Cheetah has them located above the front wheels. In the show, it has a similar look and style to the CJ-7 as seen in his debut episode and animation model including the front bumper. The toy is based on the Tamiya FMC XR311, which also has a configuration to have a gun mounted turret like how Swindle has his canon. But then again, it could just be the animators didn't fully know how to correctly draw Swindle's alt mode and thought of it as just another jeep looking car.

@@RedlineRendezvous all of them. I've been a fan since 1984. If only the live action movies would've used these vehicle modes instead for their Autobots.
Long Haul is not just a typical dump truck as shown in the video but an off-highway truck used for mining.
It does seem more fitting, will keep in mind if I make a complete G1 remake of this listing.
Yup, but its an old CAT 769, a much smaller model than nowadays modern 797F which is huge.

That's correct, a few of the G1 Autobots were based on specific racing cars, even had the same numbering.
Jazz is based on the 1978-83 GTX Porsche aka Moby Dick. Before they came out with 962

@@antiseize11 No it is not Hauler wa supposed to be released in wave one but was canceled before release of the toys unfortunately the cartoon had already been animated and he was left it but only appears sin a single episode. In the toy cases he was replaced with a second Mirage figure.
@@saimaidar9417 This was the same for Shockwave and Reflector who toys didn't get released until years later. That was supposed to be and IS Grapple, just with a different [name] then what he eventually ended up with. The [character] Hauler was retroacted into the storyline as being a green colored version of Grapple (which did not appear in the cartoon) and being a member of the constructicons.
I believe Hauler had a very small appearance in the 3 episode movie from season 1.
I always thought BlitzWing in tank mode, was a T-62😮 i forgot about the Type 74.

Optimus prime ❤
Optimus was actually a Kenworth K100 in the G1 show. He's a Freightliner in the Bumblebee movie and Rise of the Beasts.
I think you're mistaking the Kenworth for Motormaster. Optimus was always the Freightliner since the Diaclone design. Truck cab overs have a similar look to them, but he was intended to be the Freightliner.
I really liked this, know I know better the vehicle mode of many of them
Huffer was bit of a weird one to figure out since he was too small for a Freightliner like Optimus and didn't have as many wheels.

4:30 First Aid’s alt mode that was shown below wasn’t Nissan Vanette. Instead it was an E24 Nissan Caravan (“Urvan” in other market) Ambulance.
It's a little iffy when it comes to some of the later bots. First Aid is listed on the wiki as a Datsun (Nissan) Vanette C120, other online sources as a Toyota Townace.

Aswome video, although Cliff Jumper is a beetle like Bumblebee, Wind Charger was not a Fire Bird.
Glad you liked it. There was a red beetle, but there doesn't seem to be an official name known for it. While Windcharger is still one of the squished carbots, the tells are in the headlight slopes and the curvature of the rear window being that of the Firebird.
Very nice, do one on all the Combiners. G1,80's is the best.
I plan to include all of G1 combiners if this video gets to 10k likes! Who knows, I might do a 10k sub special of all Transformers from every show continuity from G1 to the latest show. So share this with anyone else who might be interested.
You forgot one Autobot, Protectobot Groove, he transforms into a motorcycle.
Not counting motorcycles or trains. But I did cover how tanks are street legal, so Blitzwing, Brawl, and Warpath are fine.

Gears wasn’t a Chevy. He was a Jeep Gladiator 1965 I believe
It's hard to tell for certain, especially since the minibots were more "interpretations" of vehicles being penny racers. The square headlights wouldn't match the Gladiator look. And the front of the hood sticks out past the grill when it doesn't on the original toy or animation model.

Long haul is a mining truck, possibly a Liebherr, not a road dump truck
Will update that in the re-release with every G1 Earth based alt mode. It seems more of a Tomica Hitachi mining truck. It's hard to nail down the specific make or model with some of the vehicles included as the time period used a lot of similarly designed vehicles.
Another Commenter in this chat gave the exact make for Longhaul, it’s the Caterpillar (CAT) 769. I checked some pics online and it looks spot on even in the details on the chassis.

I love the transformers theme but when you really listen to the music, that lead guitar stinks on ice. Like when a 12 year old gets his 1st guitar and tries to start a band with some friends from school

Surprisingly, this is the most of the Autobots. The show did have a few others not on this list, but this is the car bot cast of the 1st 2 seasons.

It's a shame that Blitzing is the only one who transforms into equipment from the countries of the socialist bloc. This is doubly strange when you watch anime from the 80s and 90s and see the unhealthy, in a good way, love of the Japanese for Soviet weapons and equipment (the same planes and ships in the first Evangelion).
Japan certainly does have an interesting love for machines from Italy, Germany, and Soviet equipment.

A lot of truck makers at the time made very similar model trucks. It's why it's also hard to pinpoint specific brand or model the Constructicons are based on.

Why the hell does transformers have four characters whos legacy alt mode (their original alt mode) is a Lamborghini cuntache, theres sideswipe, suneatrearker, and red alert, and G1 breakdown for the decepticons, why are there four of them
The Japanese Diacolone makers were really fond of lambos. Even when they aren't just recolors like Sideswipe and Red Alert.
Recolors and remolds are not a new thing in the Transformers franchise.

G1 Optimus was based on the Freightliner. Bayverse Optimus was around a Peterbilt.

Skids is the only Honda, but he's always been forgotten. The Japanese makers of Diaclone were apparently big fans of Porches, Lambos, Nissans, and Mitsubishi. It could be a matter of licensing or availability at the time.

Gears was a car not a pick up truck..
He was in fact a truck. Similar to Hoist or Trailbreaker where both had extra attachments to fill out the rear bed of the vehicle. In Gears' case it was his legs.

That he is. It's harder to tell with the G1 minibots since their car proportions were...squished to have that penny racer look.

Thats just Grapple
He's just green Grapple (the missing Constructicon).
Hauler was literally in only 2 seconds of the first episode when he pulled Hound out of the ditch. He was the same color as Grapple and was never seen again after this. People speculate that Grapple was meant to be a season 1 toy, but was pushed back to season 2 for some reason.
@dangerousdays2052 Yeah there was probably a bit of back and forth over exactly what toys they were getting over from Microchange and Diaclone so a few errors slipped through.
Personally I think that's why Reflector shows up so much in season 1, they had planned at one point to release him but then plans changed.
