The buffet has always been my favourite restaurant at the grand. The choice and quality offered is just at a different level to any other hotels buffet. But that New Years Gala buffet looks absolutely amazing. Really loved all your videos about the Grand, makes me want to get it booked up again.

Thank you and yes, the buffet at the Grand is indeed unlike any other buffet i've been to. I highly recommend the New Years Eve buffet. I don't get paid to say that, i'm just sharing my honest opinion. it's truly special and has been for the past 3 years. Make sure to subscribe. We have a few more review videos coming up!

Thank you very much for your videos! My wife and I are headed to the Grand this coming weekend for 4 days, how is the reservation situation? From what I understand you have to wait until you get to the resort how hard or easy is it to get the French restaurant ?we also wanted to do one activity outside of the resort since our main purpose is to just relax what would you recommend is the number one thing to do within the city or maybe that's a good video idea??

Thanks for watching!! The reservation situation hasn’t changed and depending on how full the resort is, reservations can be a challenge, especially for the French restaurant. There’s unfortunately not much you can do about this. You could always plan on going to the buffet but check into the French restaurant first to see if they have any cancelations. The Japanese is typically good for same day walkups. As for external activités, we’ve honestly never done one. It just seems to add stress and there’s very little my wife and I haven’t already seen or done. We spoke to another guest who told us they did a private tour to Tulum and wished they hadn’t. Mexico for us, is just to relax. Maybe eventually we’ll do something, but we just haven’t felt the need. Yet.

¡Hola! Lamentablemente no he podido visitar el Barceló Maya Rivera (¿todavía?), así que no puedo comparar. Ojalá un día.

I'm not sure why neither of us could think of the word "calamari". It was so weird. Maybe it's because they just tasted like deep fried elastics, not calami. Thanks for watching!

The Maya steakhouse beats Toni's by a huge margin. Two words why Prime Rib. IB* has become weird lately. If an item is not on the menu, room service nor ala carters they will NOT prepare it anymore. I didn't like the Italian except the Beef Carpaccio, The lobster was so badly overcooked it tasted like rubber. Mexican for dinner is meh as all Mexican ala cartes at every resort I have vacationed at. At Toni's they don't tell you that you can pick the exact steak you want you only have to ask. Japanese ala carte is very good, teppanyaki is very bad. Overcooked and flavorless. As a sake drinker the sake at resorts is low end swill. Barcelo Riviera AO Japanese has an extensive sake list of very good sake's. I LOVED the buffet for all three meals. Smallish lobsters that are warm water Chilean and they used cheapo snow crab legs. The Grand should have had King Crab legs instead. The carving station look out of this world. Baked bone marrow is yummy if done correctly.

wow, thanks for all that. it's great to have a different perspective and we'll make sure to look at the Barcelo Riviera AO in the future. We'll need to try the maya steakhouse instead of Toni's next time - i love a good prime rib. As for the bone marrow, i was so excited by it, but i was disappointed by it.
