Why We Bought TWO Chicken Coops for Our New Home 🐔 | Costs, Logistics, & Lessons Learned!
In this video, I explain why we decided to buy not one but TWO chicken coops for our move to a new house! 🏠🐔 From managing a growing flock of 18 chickens to the logistical challenges of moving day, I break down the costs, the planning, and the reasoning behind our coop choices. 🐓✨
You’ll get the details on:
Our experience with the Carolina Coop.
Why we chose a second locally built coop.
The cost breakdown for each coop and their runs.
How we’re managing the transition for our beloved chickens.
Plus, I share some fun (and chaotic!) moments with the girls as we prepare for the big move. Got ideas or similar stories? Drop your comments below-I’d love to hear them!

    Thank you for sharing. What are the best AI tools for beginners - if Adobe photoshop is too expensive too complicated ? HOW DID you get reviews? Did you use a service? ?

    • @AlainGrandemange
      @AlainGrandemange 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching. I can only speak from my personal perspective, and considering new AI tools come out every day, thing change fast. I found that starting with ChatGPT was a good entry into this world. there's a free tier, but it should be sufficient to figure out what AI can help you with and what it can't. As for photoshop alternatives, I use photoshop because I have it (it's part of my photography tools). If you're just dabbling, Adobe has a free product called Adobe Express that will meet 90% of your needs (www.adobe.com/express/). I believe Canva also has a free tier but I haven't played with it. As far as reviews go, I haven't pushed for any reviews and would never use a service together reviews (that just seems like it'll backfire at some point). Hope that helps!

      Every time we've been the ocean was always wavy (Red flags every day) but that might just be the time of year. that said, the beach in front of the Grand is not ideal for swimming. to actually swim people go down over to the other Iberostar beaches connected to the left. It's not a far walk. We only go to the beach to lounge (and drink) so it hasn't been an issue for us. Hope that helps.

    Hello! What type of room did you have there? It looks very nice. I’m torn between the Grand and the Maya, where I stayed in 2004. The food looks amazing at the Grand, and the adults only option is appealing too. The one thing that makes me hesitant is that I’m not sure if the Grand is the right fit for us. I get the feeling it’s like being on the first voyage of the Titanic-and I’m a second-class passenger. LOL. It even has the grand staircase, I see. Hope you know what I mean. Thanks for the video! Hi and thanks for watching. I'm a fellow introvert, as is my wife, which is one of the reasons we loved the IGP. The key selling point for us for the IGP is that it's adults only (we don't hate children - we have four, but when kids are around, they're very THERE and noticeable) and it's not a party resort. It's really perfect for people over 45 looking for a break.

    I'm just back from a week at the Grand. Unfortunately, I had 7 days of monsoon rainfall with only a few random hours of sun. We were barely able to enjoy the pools or beach. I found the food at the restaurants to be ok at best. There were many roof leaks, so they had buckets and absorbent pads everywhere. The free shows were not particularly impressive except for maybe the fire show. I would not call the alcohol anywhere near top shelf either. Yes, they are American brands, but $35 bottles. No way I would go back. I also didn't appreciate the multiple time share pitches they pushed. If this is the best all-inclusive around, that's sad. I found Secrets Wild Orchid in Jamaica to be much better.

How to deal with a non-existent tale of torment and woe ... well, of course, go on social media and tattle on the company that pre-fabricated perhaps the most elaborate chicken coup in the history of humanity. "OMG, there were so many nails." For God's sake, who in their right mind would drop thousands (many thousands) of dollars for a "designer chicken coup" for a dozen chickens ... it would take a hundred years (if not a thousand) just to recover the upfront cost. Taking my test Wednesday. Not worried about it as I’ve been in manned aviation since 1980 and got my private license in 1996 out of Andrews AFB. The charts and weather are easy to me. Just had to learn the drone regs and some of the stupid government ideas like “hazardous attitudes”, whether it’s risk management of CRM for a given wording in a question. Just peeves me that an ultralight manned aircraft at over 300 pounds in the air requires NO license, NO training, and NO test…… but a tiny quad copter requires a license and a $175 test if you want to post a monetized video. It’s nothing but a barrier to entry in an attempt to keep people out of the air so Bezos, WalMart, and their ilk can put their stupid delivery drones up there

    If I could afford the materials, I would just build my own. Everything has skyrocketed! So I would think the first tip is don’t buy the chickens till you have the coop built !

    • @AlainGrandemange
      @AlainGrandemange 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      100%. As cute as little chicks are, they grow really fast and having a coop ready to go when they’re ready to be moved out is key.

    Nice video. I loved the scenery when everyone was in that old classic Citroen. Your host was a very good driver, it’s a very sought after car especially in good condition, it was mint! I love old nostalgic vehicles. I have an old 1947 Indian Chief with sidecar that I bomb around with the dog 🐕 in the sidecar in rural 🇨🇦. It takes some extra effort to pilot these old relics properly. Thanks for sharing! I’m going to France soon, particularly the Dordogne and Lot River Valley regions. Cheers!

      There are some “balcony” roads on the way to Saint-Jean-en-Rohan’s just west of Grenoble. Unbelievable! Cliff side slow roads through short tunnels and short stone walls. The most beautiful views in the world! Also don’t miss L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue marche on Saturdays

    Out of all the videos I’ve seen, I’m going to go with yours. The only issue I have, is I’m going to smoke it with a Weber e310 with a smoker box and don’t think it’ll be able to reach a steady temperature of 225 Fahrenheit. I think the minimum is 300 degrees. What temperature did you smoke it at?

    • @AlainGrandemange
      @AlainGrandemange 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! I smoked it at 225(F, not C) until the internal temp reached 160. I think the key is to keep this part as consistent as you can do. 300 is a little high so keep an eye on it, but make sure you let me know how it turns out!

      @@AlainGrandemangestarted smoking it just now at 225. Picked up a pellet smoker at Sam’s for $250 and am using maple,Pecan bourbon pellets. I bought a 12 lb brisket and removed the fat but I think I could have left a little more. I took off 5 lbs of fat. The next time I do it, I’ll add 1/2 a portion more to the ingredients except the pink Prague stuff. I find at 7 lbs it could have used more. Maybe I’m not that good with spreading it. Any how, looking forward to steaming it tomorrow and eating it and giving some to my coworkers here in PA. They have no idea how good Montreal smoke meat is!

    • @AlainGrandemange
      @AlainGrandemange 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Biblelover1963 That's awesome. I think getting the smoker is the right move. Trimming the fat is always a tough call because i was raised with the belief "fat is flavor", but during my last smoke, i had wished i had trimmed a little more. It's a dance. The Prague powder needs to be very precise or it'll ruin the flavor of the meat. make sure you follow the exact formula (based on the weight after the trim). Keep me posted on how it turns out!

    We were there last September and no one ever asked for a tax or anything we walked right out of customs and to the taxi area with no nothing 🤷‍♂️

    • @AlainGrandemange
      @AlainGrandemange 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tax is for the entire stay so they may check on departure (not arrival). We weren’t checked either but given the low cost and risks associated with it, we just preferred flot follow the rules. how they deployed this tax is honestly a disaster in my opinion.

    Very informative video. I too am excited to get chickens after my better half (Borat voice: my wife!) agreed to it. We have been researching and looking at Carolina Coops for a couple of years now. We will be in the market to purchase a house this spring/ early summer 2024. After the home purchase and I've scoped out a good space, we'll make our purchase with the time frame for delivery factored in. We think we'll see if CC would install/ build the coop onsite (in Maryland). We're budgeting for that possibility.

    • @AlainGrandemange
      @AlainGrandemange 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. I remember their installation costs were really high. It’s honestly not that complicated to install. A good local handyman can do it at a fraction of the cost of CC. Best of luck with your future chicken adventure. Make sure you check out my video about lesson learned.

    Couldn’t quite catch the audio. Did you say the pool was cold? Paying extra for private pools or swimouts that are too cold to use is on my dealbreaker list.

    • @AlainGrandemange
      @AlainGrandemange 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Yes, the pool at the villa (at least when we go) is sooo cold, it's nearly unusable. My wife won't get in it, and i only go in it to say I took advantage of the pool, but otherwise, no, it's crazy cold (like, probably in the 40s or 50s cold). The private pool is definitely not a reason to stay in a villa. The private space around the pool, absolutely.

      Hi! We've only been there over new years (End dec, beginning Jan) so we can't comment on the seaweed situation in May, but i believe that's considered sargassum season. Luckily the beach is kept very clean of any seaweed so if you're just lounging on the beach, you'll be fine.
