    As a designer and photographer and a Lefthand person, I see the Alice Camera as the first ambidextrous camera on the market with the addition of a secondary shutter button on the bottom of the camera. The camera is a balanced design, meaning if you turn the camera upside down you have the same form factor. This means that you can mount the smartphone in a different direction. Alice Camera please consider my suggestion.....

    If they ever get the chance to release another model, they definitely need to make sure that one doesn't have a sealed in battery. So many perfectly working gadgets these days die an early death because their sealed in battery stops holding a charge and can't be swapped out.

    Four years and one pandemic later...at least they're still around. All the Indiegogo projects I backed during the pandemic died. I didn't back this one, because the cost was so high. I wish them well, but it's very odd and fishy why there have been virtually no reviews of this camera from M4/3-friendly TH-camrs (aside from Emily at Micro Four Nerds), even though they are on the cusp of delivering the product.

    The major and the only one issue they genuinely need to fix to even have a sliver of chance of surviving in the market is the PRICE. I'd rather suggest people to go for Black Magic Micro Studio Camera and use it with a smartphone. That also has a MFT sensor and shoots RAW footage. Also is way cheaper than this.
    The DJI Osmo Pocket is cheaper than this and gets really good footage which is 10bit. The Sony ZV-1 is also good enough and pocketable. Plus they come with log footage facility. All these cameras are good enough for people who are casual video creators or travel a lot and capture footage.
    This camera is easily 30-40% more expensive and needs a smartphone to function.
    The advantage it has is interchangeable lens which is probably not something smartphone videographers care about, plus this adds more cost as the camera comes without any kit lens. With the lens perhaps this is cheaper than Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

      yeah this camera has a serious identity problem and I think that'll become very apparent once the end users start using it, IMO.

    totally agree the radio silence coming from the brand is scary and the marketing is now looking flawed too. I suspect there are issues with the Autofocus system and some of the other features as the launch gets delayed again and again. It’s a shame as one of the SP’s is the open source upgrade ability of the unit. If this is the case why have they not shipped? , Notice there are no real ways of contacting the team too which is worrying. Once the units ship the reviews could kill it or possibly make it a success. After 4 years of wait it better be good.

      absolutely agree. I find it rather puzzling that they're onto their 4th batch of orders, yet the first batch hasn't even shipped from 2021.

    I backed Alice on the first days they came out with the idea, as you said 4 years or so ago. Not received it yet. I told them while you are working on it, please make a phone mount which can swivel up, for content creators essential. Now it seems I need to mount another phone holder on top if I want to film myself. They told me, that they can't do anything for now. I just wish, they would ship my Alice.....

    They should also have a magsafe version like the switch lens. But damn, 1500$ is absolutely mental. LOL
    Sony also already did this almost 10 years ago now.
    Maybe I will entertain this idea when they use 1" or APSC sensors, but right now none of these products look actually usable.
    You could buy 2 lightly used Sony a7iii's for the same price.
    Or even a DJI OSMO would be significantly better for vlogging with the built in gimbal, 1" sensor, and phone connectivity.

    • @ZainRiza
      @ZainRiza  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I know, right. It's just so crazy when you just look at the fundamentals of the camera and compare them to far cheaper cameras.

    As a creator myself, who does mostly action stuff with BMX and Mountain Biking, I don't see a huge advantage of this camera. Especially for how much it cost!
    I use a GoPro for most of my stuff and my phone for some of it, which is a Pixel 7 Pro. The quality from my GoPro is pretty good. I get that I can't attach lenses to it, but I rarely have a need for that. For Vlogging a GoPro with a media mod attached to it is both small and good quality.
    If this micro 4:3rds add on was closer in price to an action camera it might make some sense. But for what it costs, without a screen and with the need to buy lenses it makes absolutely no sense.

    • @ZainRiza
      @ZainRiza  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yup exactly you make a great point about action cameras. Action camera quality is unreal now, compared to before.

  • @BrandonMilner

    I don’t know why Sony or others don’t partner with Google or Apple themselves to add AI post processing to get better shots out of camera. I know the chips would increase cost.
    Or… sell a M4/3 add on that’s way way cheaper that only takes the image and has the phone do all the post processing and heavy lifting. I don’t know why you couldn’t do that for under $400. I’d consider paying that for a major upgrade in image quality.

    I'm one of the original Alice Camera Backers - shipping has only just started and the iOS app is incomplete with critical features like autofocus simply not there. Even more worryingly, it seems that no Android software will be available at this initial flawed launch - so tough luck if you have that type of phone. Communication with Alice Camera has been dreadful, and the sorry litany of missed deadlines and weak excuses has been awful. In your video of concerns - all of the ones you voiced being reasonable - you did not mention the absolute necessity to have a decent interface. I'm not sure Alice Camera has demonstrated one, as on the phone you have to do everything such as set up your stream and then use it as a camera too. Workflow matters. Another concern is the capability Alice Camera have for support and development - they apparently have only 6 staff - how can that look after a challenging user base and keep this product relevant with new features? Seeing the price of the Switchlens - I have backed that - their roadmap gives delivery before the year is out. I gave a suspicion that Switchlens will beat Alice to being a fully usable product.

    • @ZainRiza
      @ZainRiza  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't have much memory of the interface when I tried it out at their pop up, so I didn't want to say too much on it. From what I've seen it looks pretty good but obviously you have far more knowledge on it and I guess it needs a lot of work which is disappointing.

    This product looks like a well-meant idea, but once the people behind it started the actual development and discovered how much everything really costs, they went the usual "postpone, delay and fabricate" route.

      not really a content creator's camera at that point. Pixii is a great example of making a superb camera for a hyper-specific niche, though. Alice Camera could learn from them.

    This product does not make valued sense. Carrying around an add-on device to a cell phone. Just to use the cell phone's display. Better off with a dedicated camera like a Ricoh GR III, and keep the cell phone in one's pocket. Even keep the GR in the pocket.

      I think "toy fixed to your phone" is a better description for the Switch Lens, which looks like a cheap Alice camera copy that just launched on Kickstarter. I was ready to back them, but backed out at the last second. Something feels a bit off about all their (Switch Lens) promises too.
