What a set up! Absolute beast of a rig. Thanks for showing us around and for your honest feedback. Those death wobbles looked bloody gnarly. Really keen to see the work you did on the inside as well.
Wicked coaster man! In the thumbnail it definitely looks the goods but seeing on the dunes wow! We have a few 4x4 buses at work, including a Go4x4 Coaster, was pretty excited to see how went but even the Go4x4 is a huge disappointment. The bus has only done 100k km and it's noisy, no clearance (the diffs scrape on everything!) no articulation, barely does 100kph. It's offroad performance is worse than our 48 seat 2wd coaches lol and uses the same amount of fuel hahaha. All of the 4x4 bus conversions Ive driven have been so lackluster I just decided to stay with my 2wd sprinter. Was hoping you were using a kit that I could buy (assumed it was custom fabricated from the thumbnail) so disappointing to hear about the troubles you had with kit manufacturer and that you basically had to re engineer it yourself. Awesome job though and obviously a great 4x4 conversion can be done if you have the skills and time!
Haven’t started, piecing the parts list together and finding diffs. Currently just on super singles 2WD with a winch… winch has been getting a work out. Hope your enjoying The South West 👌
Just Aussie coaster mates, not much info on the conversions just a couple old forums about using NPS diffs or dana 60s with NP206’s… seems like a tight lipped secret. Tried joining the 4x4 conversion pages but no luck. Will keep looking 👍🙂
@@tomrobson761 depends what bus you have the abs models are difficult, particularly for engineering sake but the older ones are all sweet, canter diffs are the common older swap, need to turn the steering box around or get a Mazda t-truck steering box, that’s the most common older conversions. Do you mean np205? There was a build on exploroz but yeah, diffs are the easy part, steering box and transfer case is a bit tricky unless running it “divorced” style. If you want to message me on IG I have the drawers for steering box brackets to get cnc’d

Great video. Succinct and to the point and no annoying waffle either ... and I think your humour is great too! If the rear diff is Coaster and the front diff is Landcruiser, how did you get the ratios to match?
Thankyou! That’s what we aim for at least 😂 Front diff is Dana from American trucks such as F-truck, Dodge etc. Because they’re so hugely remanufactured and used there is plenty of ratio options, just have to make sure it’s right because these transfer cases will 100 percent not forgive mismatch 😂
like your build! Can't wait for the interior video. I've subscribed to your channel, liked the video, and also hit the bell to get notified for your next awesome video. Much love from the Philippines! 💗
That's an amazing build! I have an HZB50 (roughly the same bus as you do) and was thinking of an 4x4 conversion too. BB55 are rare as hell and we drive on the different side of the road as well, so that was not an option unfortunately. A kit from bus4x4 from UAE costs more than my whole build tho. So, after watching your video I made up my mind (at last!) and will stick with 4x2 from now on. Will install a diff lock, an air suspension and (probably) a winch and hope for the best. Thank you for the video and lots of love from Russia!
great conversion, years ago I made window covers like the outlet cover at 8:45 but window sized and that meant i could leave the inside windows open full time in torrential rain or while shopping and nothing or no one could get into the van, great for ventilation and as each vane was Z shaped, slightly stretched out z, you couldnt really see in from outside. Death wobbles, jeezus,

Enjoying the channel and being from Perth it’s cool to have someone who’s done what I’ve done… I’ve done around 80k on a continuous circuit for the last 4-5 years, paused back in Perth to help my folks in their their twilight…. My point? I’m keen to upgrade from my Delica which has been awesome for all those is on beaches across this land (a lifetime surfer). Happy either way but mostly a courtesy to ask…. 🤙🏄♂️
Looks like a beast of a bus.🦍👍💪🛠 Glad to hear you got that death wobble fixed. 😮 Have you thought about getting it wrapped ? Looking forward to seeing the interior. 👀 😊
Thankyou and yes! I’m glad too! I did! I concluded that the price of the wrap I would just ruin, Then I would have to replace that wrap to make it look not scratched after, so that’s the price of two wraps, then next time we travelled somewhere we would scratch it again and again etc 🤷♂️ I’m not fussed if the paint gets ruined, we built it for a purpose and don’t want to hold back. I’ve done quite a fair chunk of spraying on vehicles previously, so I may paint it down the track.. but then we’ll scratch it again..so I think… “what’s the point at all?” 😂 It’s funny because before we traveled full time I used to polish it, clean it all the time, worry about the paint etc. Now I’m more worried if it’s clean and if it doesn’t have marks on the paint because that means I’m probably not using it. I feel almost embarrassed when it’s too clean being 4x4… weird right? 😂
Hi, love the rig mate, well done👍 just wondering what suspension set up you're running plus would like to know how you've managed to get the super singles onto the rig, cos I'm also looking for a Coaster 4X4, new subbie here take care and thanks for the vids keepem coming cheers😁👍
Hey mate! It’s a equal length 4link setup in the front with a track bar, crossover steering and king coilovers, rear is still on the factory parabolics with a extra leaf for load and king shocks. As for the super singles it’s just a process, depends what GVM the vehicle is too, easiest way is to find a manufacturer that can confidently build and rate the wheels within a high standard and provide some kind of proof of design/quality, then you just need a mod plater/engineer 🤟🏾 Thanks mate! Will do!
Looks like a dream house to me ive been living in a tent and ford laser for 11 years now travelling aus my question is how much has it cost to build. i can see your pretty handy in the fab work department which would have cost a shit load i can do most mechanical jobs but am a hopeless welder ha ha .👍✌👏😁🤘
Thanks mate we think so! Cost as much as a new lane cruiser ute with a canopy 😂 but as you say, a lot of hours of mine, depends how I charge myself out to myself I guess
Hey mate! Nope, they have totally different design, they use a custom IFS setup BUT make sure its IFS otherwise its identical to the Enduroco kit. Bus 4x4 originally installed Enduroco kits before developing their own. Bus 4x4 essentially space down the factory setup with a custom subframe / IFS knuckle. Personally I think the only catch being it stays torsion bar. That limits the articulation and ride quality/tune ability in comparison to live axle and coil spung. Depends what the intended use is, for sand and most off-roading it’s totally fine, we tend to crossover into some recreational 4x4 so articulation and heavy duty simplicity is import to us. I’ve driven a couple Bus 4x4 ifs kits and they drive quite nice. Personally I say Enduroco components are in the right direction but the execution is terrible. Bus 4x4 seem more passionate about supplying a product that drives better and is safer. Unless you want a whole bunch of overwhelmed components and death wobbles, then Enduroco is the perfect choice 😂
Hey mate! Love the cruiser! Nah this is the first of the N04c’s 4L TD and 4 speed auto’s. Goes pretty bloody good with a tune, obviously no rocket ship though that’s for sure 😂
